8% up today, what is next?
Is the surge because of dash text launched by dash team in Venezuela or it is general altcoin rally?

I think it is more of a general altcoins uptrend combined with a somewhat slower bitcoin uptrend.

https://www.newsbtc.com/2018/09/21/crypto-market-surges-20-billion-with-positive-developments-factors-and-trends/

I hope DASH will be in the top 10 in Coinmarketcap again. This is one of the most promising and very active project I've ever encountered with.

Dash Core 0.12.3.3 Release Announcement

Dash Core 0.12.3.3 is a critical bugfix release of the Dash Core 0.12.3.x series.

There was a serious vulnerability discovered in Bitcoin Core's codebase recently which
can cause node receiving a specially crafted block to crash https://github.com/bitcoin/bitcoin/pull/14247

We encourage all full node operators (masternodes, mining pools, explorers, exchanges etc.) to update ASAP.

Full release notes are available at https://github.com/dashpay/dash/blob/v0.12.3.3/doc/release-notes.md,
release binaries can be downloaded from https://github.com/dashpay/dash/releases/tag/v0.12.3.3.

Note: this release does NOT require masternode owners to start their masternodes from cold wallets.
Masternode operators should stop the daemon running on a remote node, replace old binaries with the new ones and start the daemon again.

Same ann on github:
https://github.com/dashpay/dash/releases/tag/v0.12.3.3

Update Progress for the Masternode Network :

60.8% on v0.12.3.3
34.5% on v0.12.3.2

This shows that a majority of the masternodes have already upgraded to latest version within 2 days.

To the 34.5% of the masternodes who are still on v0.12.3.2 : Please update as soon as possible to implement the critical bug fix !

Buying Pizza with Dash At Papa John's in Venezuela

Alejandro Echeverría, co-founder of Dash Help, Dash Merchant – Venezuela, and Dash Text has filmed a new video of him buying pizzas with Dash from Papa John’s, the international pizza chain, in Caracas, Venezuela. As he walks into the pizza shop, he points out the store proudly sporting a ‘Dash: Accepted Here’ sticker displayed on their door and another one on their register. Before he makes the purchase, Alejandro mentions that Dash Merchant – Venezuela has affiliated four Papa John’s locations with Dash throughout the country. He then demonstrates the quick and seamless process of paying in Dash by quickly scanning the merchant’s QR code on the merchant’s phone. The pizzas are made and he walks away with two delicious-looking pizzas paid for with Dash.

Venezuelan Online Grocery Stores Processes 80 Dash Transactions in One Day

Tu Pana Charcutero, an online store that sells groceries, delicatessen, and charcuterie has recently processed 80 Dash transactions in a single day.

The online order book shows the amount purchased per order, exchange price, Dash discount, price in Dash, and transaction ID for the 80 orders paid for with Dash. José Manuel Da Silva, founder and representative of Tu Pana Charcutero and co-founder of Dash Maracay, was excited of the accomplishment and hopes to increase these numbers even more.

For some reason Dash prices are rising and this can be considered healthy for a possible return of high prices. The project is gaining space every day and we can find it even in Pizzeria but still the big problem of Dash is adoption on a large scale compared to Bitcoin. However issues such as adoption and disclosure can find a slight increase every day, anyone agree? It's possible that Will one day we find Dash on the same level as Bitcoin?

I would like to think that DASH have its own niche in crypto space yet I don't think it will have massive adoption as compared to Bitcoin but it will definitely have its own place.

https://www.coindesk.com/the-latest-bitcoin-bug-was-so-bad-developers-kept-its-full-details-a-secret/

Quote
While this sounded bad enough for many, it turns out developers for Bitcoin Core kept a second, bigger part of the bug a secret. As disclosed through an official Common Vulnerabilities and Exposures (CVE) report,
an attacker could have actually used it to create new bitcoin – above the 21 million hard-cap of coin creation – thereby inflating the supply and devaluing current bitcoins.

This makes the latest mandatory Dash update that contains a hotfix for the Bitcoin vulnerability (mentioned in above link) even more important. It also makes me wonder if Dash and any other direct forks from Bitcoin,
were informed by Bitcoin's Core-Team in time about this bug, including receiving full details about the "secret" part.
Since mining pools can be notoriously slow on updating, i hope this additional information does not put Dash network in any danger.

Emphasis should now be on having Dash mining pools update as soon as possible

Current update progress with regards to versions seen on the network in the last 24 hours : https://chainz.cryptoid.info/dash/#!network
(i assume these include the Dash mining pools)

50,7% updated to v0.12.3.3
23,0 % still on older version 0.12.3.2

It seems that alternative coins markets are being moved one by one and this is new trend to use individually these markets. Dash is still sleeping giant else news which caused to spike other markets same are here as well. Dash should also wake up anytime if this positive environment lasts longer like this. Most of the time Dash moves when others have less expectations from it.

Hello:

I want to be a good crusader for DASH but I need a graph or some numbers showing how much DASH has risen against BTC over the past couple of months.

Does anyone have a graph or some numbers I can show people who are interested in buying cryptos?

Thank you

You can use these charts :

https://coinmarketcap.com/currencies/dash/#charts

Just be informed that Bitcoin and pretty much all the altcoins (including Dash) have been in a very strong bear market this year and only recentely (september) started to bottom out.
It is not even sure Bitcoin and the altcoins are currently out of the bear market, basicly it is too soon to tell.

Qwizzie nailed it really. I use trading view to look at the chart

https://www.tradingview.com/symbols/DASHBTC/

Heres my one showing the ratio to bitcoin going back as far as 2014

chart

My personal opinion is that Dash has likely bottomed versus bitcoin (but yes probably too early to be sure). It's recent bottom in September was near 0.02, I don't think it will get near that again, currently above 0.03 as I write. It is at the bottom of a large channel where it looks to have bounced. Also weekly MACD indicator has crossed bullishly. Even icebreaker our previous biggest troll is now a masternode investor  Grin

Obviously do your own research before making your own trading decisions

ps Volume is a bit misleading on this chart. Previously this exchange had highest volume of Dash trading, this is no longer the case.

What Venezuela Is About to Teach Us About Cryptocurrency

Everyone by now knows that Venezuela is undergoing a significant economic crisis centered around the hyperinflation and sharp devaluation of its currency. This, of course, makes it a prime candidate for the narrative of cryptocurrency as a solution, and this country is often looked to as a perfect opportunity for the world to learn what will happen in a society suffering from a broken currency that adopts a better one. However, I believe that the biggest lesson will be about the state of cryptocurrency, and its community, right now.

Already the number of pages in this topic will soon reach 7,000 pages. When will bitcoin grow, what will happen to Dash? Will not it be lost among thousands of coins? The coin is already quite old.
