Well "Dash" is lame we mostly agree on that but "Digital Cash" is actually cool so I suggest to meet at the middle here:
Let it be read as "dash" but written something like D.Csh, d.cSh or D-Csh, d-cSh etc...

Dash is the most stupid name I have ever heard. Name should have been changed one year ago,but back then everyone was against it, and in that time DRK was heavily undervalued.

Bump for clarity. As the post says, nothing is final. I for one welcome a re-brand, although I think right now is not the right time for it. And this is the reason you don't panic and dump all of your coins. The communication was very poor, but NOTHING is final and all Evan wanted to do was to open up a formal rebranding discussion. NO dictatorial decisions have been made. Time for a buyback I suppose... |

But this ain`t gonna chance is it? If it is, I actually am disappointed. I don`t care much about the name Darkcoin. Actually I was slightly worried about it limiting the target group, but I really liked the target group it adressed (Deep Internet etc.). As far as I get it right now, we now focus on those people AND the rest, so both. We don`t drop the former, but add the latter, right? I'm for as wide user base as possible. Quoting myself (sorry) ...
We don't have to call ourselves DarkSmth to be used on Deep/Dark Internet. Think of it this way for a moment: cash is always cash. There is no special "criminals only cash" or "general public cash". It depends on how you USE it.

The point of a name change is to remove the hurdle that the "Dark" name creates for mainstream acceptance. People have absolutely no idea what crypto currency is, and when they're prejudiced with thinking it's something illegal, but bitcoin is OK, well that just leaves us as a niche market when we deserve to at least be side by side with BTC, IMO. Aside from that, the changes in the world that I want to see can't happen with Bitcoin. Bitcoin is too transparent. I want to see the people take back their countries, and it can only happen if the people controlled the money and governments have to beg for funding. That's my (exaggerated) opinion. And to make that happen, we need total mass adoption. So anything that takes us in that direction while staying and supporting everything to do with privacy is what I'm here for I think we need to keep the name Darkcoin, but change what we're known as. Like use an acronym or initials so that Darkcoin is known by something else less off putting to the public. I know it'll mean rebranding, but we're still young, and I think it needs to be done. However, I think calling it DC, although bland, is probably better than tossing out the baby with the bath water. Keep Darkcoin, but change the branding. What do you all think? Could this be done? Dark InstantX and Send Coin = DISC I dunno........ |

This is severe market over reaction. Fundamentals of the coin has not changed. If anything, the change of the name is a positive news!
Yes, we love DRK, though this name wont take us nowehere. Hence for the brighter future a new name is required that should not give any associations with shady part of economy. This is just human nature.
For I was pleased for the rebranding, also kinda expected over-reaction of market manipulators to sell off.
