This was a crazy day for sure. I followed it while at work and was definitely having trouble concentrating. It really is amazing how different it feels in this thread. Dark being the diamond in the rough while all other hypecoins get pumped and dumped. Honestly, I barely remember how I heard about this coin , someone mentioned it on a reply on reddit briefly and I was curious because of the name. Then I started mining on my cpu and got 10-20 coins (first coin I've mined also since it was a cpu coin and my GPU is older and has trouble with adequate drivers). Then I saw someone mention amazon ec2 instances and went and learned about those and within one night I was running multiple 8core virtual cpu instances. Now here I am barely a week later and I'm hooked. Can't wait for the coming months.

I'd like to thank eduffield and the other developers for this critically important evolution in virtual currency. DarkCoin is what bitcoin should have been. Some might call it "Bitcoin 2.0" but would do better by saying: "DarkCoin is digital cash." - Child Harold - February 28, 2014 https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=421615.msg5424980#msg5424980

Sorry everyone, I know there have been a ton of questions bout this but I'm so flustered. I've been trying to get a server up and running for3 hours now and can't seem to get sgminer -- kernel darkcoin to work
my server is the g2 large, I believe these are the specs:
NVIDIA GRID™ (GK104 "Kepler") GPU (Graphics Processing Unit), 1,536 CUDA cores and 4 GB of video (frame buffer) RAM.
I've updated the gpu driver
The bat file looks like this:
sgminer.exe --kernel darkcoin -o stratum+tcp://drk.lotterymining.com:4444 -u TanteStefana.Miner2 -p P
What could I be doing wrong?
Not being an AMD Radeon, I'm wondering if it's possible to get this instance to work? I thought this sgminer worked on NVidia? No? I"m running Nvidia as well... but I'm running them on a windows box. What driver version are you using?

The new Windows CPU miner that elmad created doesn't seem to have increased my hash rate. I just copied the bat file I was using on the old one. Does something else need to be added?
check the .exe names - the original was minerd.exe There are 3 new executables, check the readme to determine which one you need to use (based on your processor)

Ugh, even with pause, I couldn't see the error message, and I've been trying to screen shot it all night, LOL. Finally got it and it says there is no opencl sdk installed, so I'm off to do that Ah - try running the .bat in a command window when you have errors instead of running it straight from explorer. It makes it easier to see the errors. Here is the .bat I"m running. I don't know if it will help, but maybe. sgminer --kernel darkcoin -o stratum+tcp://xco.cpu-pool.net:3500 -u Hammerhedd.690 -p x -I 17 -w 256

It says cpuminer 1.3

Just a little thought here, but thinking about the average user in the official pools I think it may be time to drop the withdraw TX Fee.
At this rate the average person wont even get 1 coin in a day, and soon it will take a week etc.. 0.1 TX is really high
I had also accidently left my withdraw set to every 1 coin at first and lost about 30 dark to tx fees lol
we are growing, come and help mine darkcoin, and get a chance of winning the lottery pool. once a week 50% of the fees, plus ive added a 100 drk on top, will be drawn, to one lucky winner... is it your turn next? Witdrawal fee: 0.0 Please spread your hashing power, we dont want 1 pool to have >50%

It says cpuminer 1.3 OK, try this link - https://mega.co.nz/#!pBZzQAII!yuvzhcnx3ezLre9fek_G67D0_IyiNqIbEHKY4cKdovA That's reposted from elmad's post. There are three executables in there. The readme explains which one is compiled for which CPU type you have. you will need to change your .bat file to use the correct executable (change the name from minerd to minerd-xxxx-xxx) You might also find this helpful if you aren't sure which instruction set(s) your CPU has available: http://www.intel.com/support/processors/tools/piu/sb/CS-014921.htm

Aaaaand... another 10% of daily profit goes to Elmad. Keep on the good work!
I call upon CPU miners to support this incentive of Elmad's work! Let the CPUs rule! We have at least 50-100% of potential performance gain.

Hi everyone, I'm still trying to get this amazon instance to work. I can't get the sgminer to run because it says it needs opencl sdk to work. when I try to install opencl sdk, it says it needs opencl sdk for cpu, and I can't find that download. I've been at this for 5 hours now, and don't want to go to bed because then I have to let this server go, can't have it running all night and not producing Wasted enough money on it already Help is very much appreciated! My error message, caught on a fast print screen, is: Started sgminer 4.0.0 Error -1001: clGetPlatformsIDs failed ,no OpenCL SDK installed?> clDevicesNum returned error, no GPUs usable Alll devices disabled, cannot mine I did install the drivers that Amazon said to install, 320.59-grid-desktop-win8-win7-winserv2008r2-winserv2012-64bit-international Is it possible to make this work? Please put me out of my misery!!

Have you got Amazon instance with GPUs?
Edit: Ah, yes, I see now they got ones. Thought they had only CPU clouds.

Getting a ton of trojan alerts on both CPU and GPU miner from the first page on VirusTotal.com
Can you confirm those are false alarms? (usually only 1 or 2, but this time more than 20 on both)

I get virus alert with virtually all mining software. It's because it's often used in trojans (e.g. botnets). Nothing to worry about in general.

- 84 Million Coins Max
- Block reward halves every year
Does the difficulty changes affect the number of max coins and block halving? How many coins are to be realistically expected?

Difficulty is skyrocketing! http://coinz.co.vu/diff/?drkIs it because of GPU miners or just because the price of DRK got to new heights in the exchanges? Are there that many GPU miners yet? Anyway, the trend is impressive!
