I don't think so. Darkcoin is pretty much coinjoin/sharedcoin. I think the techniques would still apply to Darkcoin as well.

The inputs in the above diagram are not identical.
Check the difference with a DarkSend:
http://explorer.darkcoin.io/tx/56b3b95b76995d3e4d3107cf753c8496493010f625fc04d971e9262d74e6a5a5
Good news to Dark coin as DarkSend is working pretty well. I believe it will have another soar soon...  ;-)

For all you believing in the 'double top there is only a way down scenario'. This stock picture of apple says it all!

Are you actually trying to compare an altcoin to a behemoth like Apple that actually makes products that work and are used by millions of people everyday?  Darkcoin is just another cryptocurrency that could fade away tomorrow and the world would never know or care.

I was a big supporter of Darkcoin until it turned into a cult like following.  People need to keep their expectations realistic.  Darkcoin peaked and is unlikely to hit the level it was at anytime soon.  Also, to those that keep talking "hold for long term", how long are you going to hold?  And regarding the common saying used in this thread "shaking out the weak hands", the weak hands have been getting shaken out for months.  What is weak about selling for a profit and using that btc to make more profit on other coins.  It's not weak it's smart.

There is a lot of competition these days.  Darkcoins value has always been based off of it anonymity feature and that has not been delivered.  You can only push things back for so long before people start doubting everything and move on.  On top of that there are new coins using the cryptonote protocol that offers anonymity without the need for a complicated masternode network.  Once the GUI is out for those coins and they have addressed bloating on the blockchain, all of the major arguments against cryptonote coins will be gone.

I dumped all the DRK I had above .002 and plan on buying back at the bottom which isn't even close yet.  But I guess I'm those weak hands getting shaken out.  I would rather be weak and rich in BTC than a bagholder.

You're right, comparing Apple and DRK is daft - DRK is a real product that's useful to the majority of Planet Earth, Apple is just overpriced niche hardware. Several orders of magnitude difference in customer base.

And competition? LOL. Making vague promises does not count. The Darkcoin team is doing actual WORK. Darksend is functional, and it will continue to get better, we're just perfecting the masternode payment code right now.

+1

Wow, some of you Darkcoin cheerleaders resemble brainwashed cult members.  DRK is a real product and Apple is just hardware?  Apple is used by millions of people.  DRK is just another altcoin with a lot of unfulfilled promises.  Those promises may or may not materialize but Apple is here and proven today.  The fact that someone would make a comparison to Apple with Darkcoin being praised while Apple dismissed is just ridiculous.

In case you don't get it.

Darkcoin market cap  $ 42,191,903

Apple market cap $564.980.000.000

Compare Darkcoin to as many other cryptocurrencies as you want.  When you compare Darkcoin to Apple and imply that Darkcoin is more useful you just sound ignorant.

Apple is only IP. DRK is a network effect.

IP is a fake, statist idea, nothing more.

You guys are delusional.  Darkcoin will never surpass bitcoin and it has a market cap of $ 8,358,258,977.  Apple is 13390 time larger than Bitcoin.  Yet you people act like Darkcoin is bigger than everything.  Bizarre.

I will say one thing.  This is an interesting study in human behavior.
Did you guys not hear ? Darkcoin is Apple  Grin

So comparing them is not that crazy ..or is it?  Shocked

The car...

I wanted Silver, but I think I'll go with Dark Grey for obvious reasons.

I'm not really a luxury car kind of guy... But, how else superchargers? I'm gonna have to get all fancy now... Bleh.

This is why I wonder about people talking bear mid and long on DRK... 4 months from now, where will price be? Well duh, where will development be in 4 months? I could have a parking lot full of these things...

Yep - Its starting to catch on that bitcoin isnt private at all - and even the bolt on solutions that were created are not secure either.

More and more people are realising that an independent solution is what's required (Darkcoin). bitcoin will never fork to introduce privacy, the risk is too high. Bitcoin for public ledger transactions, Darkcoin for all other!

All it will take is a website to start capturing business addresses where you can enter someone's bitcoin address and uncover their entire history of spending. Smiley

Just read the article and I really like Kristov Atlas, he seams to know his stuff. I nominate him to be the third code reviewer

So the dream team I would like to see
If they would review the code would be:

Damn it.  DRK = Apple.

I guess we're going to have to go out and start suing people for using X11 even though it's an obvious collection of open source SHA-3 candidates.  We're going to have to find a way to violate the Sherman Act and collude with other developers to keep coin prices high.  Oh, and don't forget, no poaching members of other coin teams.  We'll have to raise the price of masternodes for our followers and convince them that we have better servers and support even though the backend of all coins are all hosted by Amazon.

Man, I don't know how we are going to do it.  It took Apple years to become that good.

Yeah that was what I was thinking they are both well know and respected in this space.
Kristov has a B.S. and M.S. degrees in Computer Science, independent security researcher and security consultant
and Andreas well there is a whole site about his awesomeness here http://antonopoulos.com/

I think they'd both take up the request if Evan asked them to please look at the system Smiley.  They both know about DRK Smiley

Still those were just the ones I personally would pick for my dream team, I just feel like they have to be someone that people know and trust that will go over the code, not just some Joe the coder from kentucky  Tongue

There could be others that I cant think of right now that would do just fine.
Just wanted to start some kind of discussion around this.  Smiley

maybe some democratic voting is in order  Wink

Edit: or of course if Evan has his own ideas about who would be best candidates

Apple fans accusing other people of being delusional and brainwashed - anyone spot the irony? Wink

Seriously I have yet to use any Apple product that did not almost instantly infuriate me with its complete inability do do anything actually useful, or do it the way I wanted to.

I hope this post makes someone choke on their iTrinket.  Kiss

One thing they are right about though - Apple has a ridiculous maket cap and deep pockets, but I don't think any one corporation will be bigger than ecash (whatever ends up being the de-facto ecash, be it DRK or something evolved from DRK) for very much longer. Both BTC and DRK are still at a very early stage, nobody has missed either train yet.

Greg Maxwell
Andreas Antonopoulos
Kristov Atlas

What do you all think ?

Add Vitalik Buterin to that list. Any combination of two in this list would priceless. Literally.

Personally, I think A.A. would be the top guy to audit. From all I have learnt from him, not about techy stuff but the core principles and philosophies that made Satoshi sit down and write the whitepaper, and the social implications bla bla bla... I think he would happily audit DRK

This news article is just the tip of the iceberg, as example

http://www.coindesk.com/how-bitcoin-helps-afghan-girls-achieve-financial-freedom/

problem is they dont mention these girl's younger IT skilled brothers.

DRK will promote freedom, actual freedom to gzillion people out there. Not only hi-end capital, but safe small tx too. Be it large volume, be it micro-tx. Totally private and anon.

The first real "e-money" ever.

THIS IS HERE AND NOW... Evan is just ironing some kinks. Testnet is getting stronger by the second!
