Sorry guys - but new site doesn’t look like like promo site of «first and only already working, easy and ready to use anonymous coin» for ordinary people.
It looks like techno-blog for crypto-geeks testing prototype who already know everything about Darkcoin.

So this new site is great for active adepts of Darkcoin - OK. But to attract new people - IMO we need smth like https://bitcoin.org site.

May be we need to have bouth 2 sites:
1. Promosite to attract users-investors with professional design, usability, promo articles, video, ... with simple interface (strong selling site). Click to understand -> Click to download -> Click to buy. No distracting info.
2. Techno-blog with all the information for adepts that already use Darkcoin and intrested in RS, mining pools, updates and all such stuff ...

+1
Like the "First and only fully-functional and easy-to-use anonymous coin."

The first thing newbies see now is some Mandatory update that sounds like the coin was broken & needed an urgent fix. Not the best key selling message.

Also - the first line of definition people may still read is soooo boring: Darkcoin (DRK) is an anonymous digital currency based on the Bitcoin software. - To me it sounds very much like just another BTC clone.
Totally agree. The new site is quite poor in terms of design, layout and presentation. This site undersells our technology.  Even the old site was better. I'm a bit disappointed. We need some pros to build a site for us.

Agreed on this point. Tungfa, I think you have your next crowdfunding project...

While I love the idea of adding fiat into the equation, I think that should remain with exchanges otherwise we get an excess of regulatory heat. Crypto<>Crypto is much easier to start with.

Yes Crypto<>Crypto to start, but I'm already thinking ahead for a wider adoption.  Tongue The biggest hurdle to access to any cryptocurrency is IMO the FIAT > Crypto conversion.

Credit card > BTC ATM > DRK > [optional: BTC]

Bank account > regulated exchange > etc.

Its not the site thats the problem, its the content.  We need an experienced PR and comms person on board. I have suggested this a few times before but have to admit I gave up pushing the concept after I met some mild resistance from parts of the dev team.  To attract new money we need to appeal to somebody who doesn't know or doesn't even need to know what a release candidate is for example.

DarkCoin

Open Source =

For the ShitCoin Minions:

http://imgur.com/X79ss1j.gif

1. The investment crowd now knows that devs without their own anon solution = incompetent. Clonecoins do not have traction these days. Innovation is rewarded more by the markets, compared to clonecoins with* or without tweaks.

2. The masternode network of DRK has significant value invested on it and it can't be easily replicated. A cheap clone cannot offer sockpuppet resistance as well as the expensive DRK network. If you can buy hundreds of masternodes for peanuts, their network would almost be DOA for anonymity.

3. The faster a clone coin arrives at the scene, or adopts DarkSend, the bigger the indication that the clonecoin dev is some kind of incompetent dev &  scammer (he wouldn't even have time to examine the code for how it works).

* Possible DarkSend tweaks: Increasing mixing rounds to 10, peers to 5 from 3, integrating TOR out of the box etc etc. This is definitely going to provide positive stimulation for Darkcoin as well by seeing various parameters related to anonymity getting tweaked.

Just another point, when are we going to get away from the "anonymous" angle? ElTito said that the PR wording was going to go more in the direction of "privacy", which I completely support.

I submit that the wording on that site should be changed from "anonymous" currency to "private" currency...I am tweeting that angle every chance I get, it resonates with more people:

CURRENT WORDING:

What is Darkcoin? Darkcoin (DRK) is an anonymous digital currency based on the Bitcoin software. It allows you to stay anonymous while you make transactions. It is like using cash, but digitally.

PROPOSED:

What is Darkcoin?  Darkcoin (DRK) is a digital private currency that is completely open-sourced. It allows your finances to stay private as you make transactions. It is like using cash, but digitally.

I also eliminate references to BTC, we should stand on our own.

IMHO

EDIT: I feel so strongly about this, I have submitted it to JIRA:

The site's new design is nice IMO.

It is hard to please everybody... Tongue  Tongue  Tongue

I also like colors, fonts and so on - but not the structure/content.

You see - site have to be good not «in general» - but good for it’s main goal.

And the main goal for Darkcoin in 2014-2015 IMO is PR and attracting new users (Bitcoin’s users at the first stage).
So logistic is: user reads a press release (gets friend’s advice and so on…) -> goes to our site -> understands that Darkcoin is great -> Downloads wallet -> Buys coins. That's it - goal is done!

If user needs additional information - we send him to forum-wiki-blog-support’s site with all additional info.

So for this particular goal best site doesn't mean most beautiful. For us best site = site with best ratio "number of visitors / number of downloads / number of bought DRKs".

So sending you friends/wife/colleagues to the different sites and monitoring the number of wallet’s downloads and amounts of DRK buys - we can definitely say which site is really better or worse…

Sorry for my bad English - hope my opinion is clear...

Much better. I would smuggle in the sentence that it is the only coin that offers anonymity (or highest level of privacy if needs to be) and passed an independent review by an industry expert. This is the selling stuff.

http://shapeshift.io/

I put an unofficial feature request for BTC<>DRK running through the Master Nodes, which, now I find this service ^^, I can tell everyone about.

It's not guaranteed to be worked on, but I think that because of this service being available for LTC, and soon other alts, it will be worth keeping track of this service and pushing a little harder for something similar.

Being able to move from BTC>DRK>BTC for a very small fee to MNs would be a killer application (why would you need DarkWallet?), especially if we could effectively have wallets acting as BTC and DRK mini-exchanges / liquidity, and the MNs as the automatic escrow.

I was thinking about BTC-> DRK->BTC some time ago, and there seems to be a logic problem Smiley At least I think so...

If you think about the transfer details:
1. Have pseudonymous BTC (local wallet)
2. Buy drk from btc
3. anonymize drk
4. buy btc from drk
5. have btc (local wallet)

If you want to do this without exchanges, he would just get his btc back he bought drk with in step 2.

So only solution I can think of is:
1. have pseudonymous btc
2. buy drk with btc on exchange
3. transfer drk to local wallet
4. anonymize drk
5. send drk to exchange and buy btc

but even in this case, exchange could probably get the original btc address from step 1 by comparing send drk amounts from step 3 and 5. So actually you have to solve all the problems evan solved with darksend if you want to mix drk with btc

I think this works through the master node network if there are distributed wallets that are happy to provide liquidity to transactions.

Say you had 10 BTC. You could allocate 2 BTC to be drawn down by the Master Nodes if there is an order that requires processing.

If 1,000 people allocated 2 BTC for this, you would have a pretty decent decentralised exchange.

Its got lots of security and trust issues that would need to be worked out, but it would rock.
