I think now what DRK really needs is a P2P trading platform with fiat (like LocalBitcoins). For this coin to gain any serious attention by businesses and markets this is what is needed.

But now I think about it, would this be better handled by a centralized website or could a system like this be incorporated in to the masternode network in the future (by this, I mean have its own interface on the DRK client and is hosted on the masternode network)? Users would need to be able to create accounts which would allow them to post listings such as "selling DRK for UK bank transfer", and people would be able to leave feedback after a trade. Could add additional security measures such as the ability for people to link their real name with their account (which only becomes visible between 2 participants of a transaction) and as part of the feedback system the participants can confirm whether or not the bank (or whatever payment medium was used) was indeed linked with that real name.
Basically a platform like LocalBitcoins hosted on the masternode network usable within the DRK Client.

I dunno, maybe something like this would be deemed unnecessary as being this integrated with the coin. Could also lure a lot of scammers/fraudsters and with it being integrated with the client, loads of noobs not knowing what they're doing and getting fucked over. Then again, it has never been done before either (fiat integration that is). And this possibility exists on LocalBitcoins too, but the feedback system, ability for sellers to request images of the debit card associated with the bank etc, and the chat system negates this. I've never been scammed on there.

Just an idea.
But yeah, this would bring us further to decentralization. Currently we're only tradable on exchanges (centralized), obviously private trades happen probably more often than we think but there's no platform for it.

What do you guys think, does DRK need a P2P trading platform, and if so should it be as integrated as I've been babbling?

like this

http://shapeshift.io/

I put an unofficial feature request for BTC<>DRK running through the Master Nodes, which, now I find this service ^^, I can tell everyone about.

It's not guaranteed to be worked on, but I think that because of this service being available for LTC, and soon other alts, it will be worth keeping track of this service and pushing a little harder for something similar.

Being able to move from BTC>DRK>BTC for a very small fee to MNs would be a killer application (why would you need DarkWallet?), especially if we could effectively have wallets acting as BTC and DRK mini-exchanges / liquidity, and the MNs as the automatic escrow.

There was a cryptic message that there are secret projects...who knows? I certainly don't, but I do hope something like this could be created with MNs and wallets giving liquidity could earn a few DRK for their efforts.
Nah not like that, like: localbitcoins.com - if you've ever used it.

But yeah, a development like that is definitely required for the near future IMO.
A wallet where you can deposit BTC and DRK, and trade between them within the wallet. This would allow people to trade their BTC for DRK so they can "mix" them and trade them back to BTC; effectively allowing (low-tech) people to trustlessly mix their BTC's. I actually think that if something like this was made it would generate a LOT of attention towards DRK (from the places where it's really needed) bringing it closer to becoming used as it's own currency.

Any posts from me that were posted in Russian were NOT from me. A cykablyat obtained my forum login details when they were leaked, I was inactive from the forum at that time.

I've read at least 2300 pages and the latest news relieved me and helped alot with my status as a shitclone basher. The only counter-argument that the anonymous shitcoin developers and ass kissing fanboys could bring when i dared to piss on their 4 commits forks was that DRK was an instamined scam. Ooops! no more, sluts! Now, who's ass do i need to kiss in order to get a masternode ? 314 drk's are peanuts. I want the big thing. hehe

The way this is traded makes me fucking sick. You dumpers are fucking scum.

DRK liquidity is shit-tier. 7000-8000 coins knocks the price of the coin 5%! What kind of weak investors/traders/liquidity providers do you have here? I understand that some/a lot of the trading/liquidity providers is tied up in masternodes, but with massive swings like 5% for only < .2% of the currency surely someone could knock two braincells together and figure out that theres much more money to be had by providing market liquidity than entirely masternodes. Whales, I'm talking to you.

This coin needs more traders, not grandmas tucking their coins under their pillow forever. Or people like jams951 will continue to make profiles and post angry and confused posts here that don't seem to encompass the idea that DRK is a currency and people are going to trade it regardless of whether or not jams951 is sick of it, or they really are scum.

Eh? BTC has 3x coin supply yet if you dump 21.000-24.000 BTC the effect on price will be "somewhat" larger. We also saw what happened after the FBI announced the 30k auction (mere announcement = -7.15%).

Snowden it is.

Right. Six degrees of separation

How do we 1) get Snowden to load a DRK wallet; 2) have people sending him DRKs, if they are allowed to in their jurisdiction; and 3) get him to post a picture on r/darkcoin?

edit

quite frankly, I'm surprised no one voted for David Chaum, you know the guy who started off the whole digital coins thing before Satoshi. Actually, come to think of it, why didn't I vote for him? Oh, well. Mr Snowden will probably get more headlines.

Looks like the fight's just getting started:

Europol Report Connects Anonymous Digital Currencies to Dark Net Crime

Quote
Called the Internet Organised Crime Threat Assessment (iOCTA), the report examines the use of bitcoin on various dark web sites, by organised crime and individual actors, and calls digital currencies an ‘enabler’ for cryber-criminals and a challenge for law enforcement.

However, it made a clear distinction between bitcoin and digital currencies designed with true anonymity in mind, like darkcoin, warning:

“We feel it should concern everyone that the latest cyber currencies are intended to be truly anonymous and to facilitate anonymous transactions. We face a situation where law enforcement may be completely unable to trace even very large criminal transactions.”

Quote
There will be an increase in the use of virtual currencies for CAM [child abuse material]. Producers of CAM may realise that new virtual currencies such as Darkcoin offer further anonymity possibilities and that there is an additional opportunity for financial gain in the exchange of CAM.

I am not surprised. Some people expected some undefined miracle to instantly happen after the opensourcing event which obviously haven't been the case, so some people are selling their DRK and try to buy "the next miracle of crypto" (or even get out of cryto for now because of the BTC price decay, or play it safe and just sit on their BTC). It's not even that big of a dump (at least not yet and I don't expect it will be) but the markets are very quiet these days, so those sells can easily drive the price down significantly. It might cause some panic which can generate a heavy dump but the generally quiet market doesn't support that either, so I expect a slow decay until something changes the overal attitude (into either directions).

That's my point, DRK has 3x less market supply, and 80% (2880/3600) of the DRK coins compared to BTC produced monthly that 'need' to be bought. Even less because of the PoS reward structure to the masternodes, so it's really 64% of the BTC emission for DRK compared to BTC (2304/3600 daily). When compared to the total supply of each coins, 1.497% is what DRK increases its emission by each month (a value of 487 BTC). The bitcoin emission each month increases by 110k BTC/month, or .823% of the current emission. That's a value of 110k BTC/month. The total value of DRK made in a month is .443% that of bitcoin. This means that there needs to be at least 1 person interested in Darkcoin for every 123-223 people interested in Bitcoin for this to be a valid metric.

88k DRK coins need to find a home in the month. So far the price this month has gone from .006/.0065 to just past .009. That's about a 40% swing. That's waaaaaaay more than enough volatility to absorb the 88k coins in the month (1.87% of the currency) without spending or gaining any value at all. Even less because of the PoS from masternode rewards, so really only 70,400 DRK need to be 'purchased' by the market monthly (even less because of likely buyers purchasing directly from miners OTC). What's causing the massive swings, IMO is weak liquidity providers because their money is tied up in too many masternodes. Don't get me wrong, the nodes are great .. but a 40% maximum gain on 1000 DRK is a much better turnaround than the peanuts (comparatively) from running a masternode.

I think that the numbers are fair right now, but my point here is that I think the volatility gap can be bridged by using a % of your masternode money for market liquidity money. Make it competitive .. because there's provably a lot more money to be made by providing DRK liquidity than collecting the PoS reward right now. It's as if you whales are passing up free money Smiley

I take it it's legal to send him DRKs? If that's the case, 200 DRKs bounty to the first person to get him to open a DRK wallet, post a picture on r/darkcoin to show some evidence (don't try and photoshop something crude) and also for Snoweden to post a picture of the address for the person claiming the bounty.

Snowden would need to hold up something to confirm he has a DRK wallet.  Anyone from the DRK foundation can be the final judge on whether the funds should be paid out to the bounty hunter.

(I will also need to double check none of this is breaking any laws).
