In relation to network, it seems that the Ethereum network has already stabilized, the scalability issues can be solved in 2018 the developers of Ethereum should already contain a solution to this problem, they are just testing the Platform in practice, we can see that the transactions have returned for normaly.

If the scalability problem will not be solved ASAP Ethereum will be at risk of being replaced in its leadership by the first platform without those scalability problems.

Ethereum has changed life of lot of people this year and still looking very good at the end of the year. I am much more optimistic for next year with new hopes and big profits from Ethereum. This is real starting year which brought alternative coins market.

ETH is completely different than BTC, but they have something in common. Both are now great crypto, with bright future. You can expect some nice growth. But as being kinda expensive right now, they are like safer investment with "lower" % gain. It can still be hundreds of % per year, which is awesome, but you can probably multiply your $ faster, if you find some great project, with good devs and undervaluated price. There are some and the potencial is great.

ETH is great and kinda safe for long term, but dont expect to order a lambo in 2018.

I'm sorry, but in 2018, I was more optimistic about the throne of Ripple. Ripple does not rely on block chains, but rather uses the nodes network formed by banks and financial institutions. Transactions are fast, safe and cheap, which is regarded as an excellent way to send money.

XRP is a long-term investment that will bring the maximum profit in a few years.

I agree, ETH has full potential to at least double in 2018; I am just worried how ICOs will continue their existence in 2018 (as you know there are predictions of "end of ICOs and stuff"), as nowadays ETH is greatly dependent on ICOs.

I don't think icos will die but they may highly be regulated.

Ethereum project does not have to type in its blockchain a whole bunch of ICO to be in demand. There are many applications for smart contracts in real life, as there is an interest of big business to use the capabilities of the system.

ETH is not keeping it's price vs BTC; ETH is not recovering like Dash; LTC or XMR, so ETH's price depends on BTC-USD.

Ripple is an interesting asset to follow, yes. But I'm not sure it can be seen like all the others cryptoassets out there as it's not really decentralized.

So yes, you can make fast and cheap transactions but that's thanks to the few number of validators (55 if you trust the last Ripple update on that matter) i.e. centralization of the ledger-keeping. Saying that Ripple is cool is like saying: "look, VISA is dealing with a huge load of transactions". Thus being said, the Ripple company seems to be commited to push decentralization forward but is moving really slow on that subject. And until there is around a few thousands active validators on the Ripple network, it cannot be seen as a decentralized ledger IMO.

For comparison, Ethereum is dealing with the same number of transactions daily than Ripple (roughly 800k-900k in the last few days) but with more than 27k nodes that have to reach consensus. That's the real challenge here!

So for now, and also because ETH intend to offer much more than only settlement, I'll say go ETH!

I wish you had been right and to be honest I thought the exact same thing But it seems we have to be a little bit more patient to see ETH break $1,000. I have a feeling that we might see a little bear market for a while. Let's hope I am wrong this time
