Personally,I dont like ying-yang logo.
What KARM is aiming?
Doing good is good.It sends a positive friendly soft feeling.
But most of all,KARM means JUSTICE and ENCOURAGEMENT.  It is just like an old wise man.
So cute and mysterious logo is not ok.
The old elephant is ok.Though not perfect.Maybe add a balance?

When people have done good things, but receive nothing. That is not right.
We will donate he/she to encourage people to doing good.
That is the meaning of KARM.

I think the behavior of giving is the core.

What we have to do is trying to spread this coin.Tell they this is a meaningful coin.

I think the 2+G hashrate may explain a lot.
"Governments are good at cutting off the heads of a centrally controlled networks like Napster, but pure P2P networks like Gnutella and Tor seem to be holding their own." -- Satoshi

As someone with years of marketing experience working for the biggest ad agency in the world, I would suggest staying away from symbolism like a dharma wheel.

A white elephant outline is neutral, and would work much better (as a brand) than something that means different things to different people (and would cause many others to become indifferent to Karmacoin).

i.e., come up with something new. The elephant is good. Just make it outstanding and emotionally appealing.

The simpler the logo the better. If I was to design it, I would do something completely different. A blue and red logo like the old Pepsi logo but leaning towards a horizontal yin-yang and getting rid of the dots. Also, there's no need to put "Karmacoin" on the logo. (Such is the sign of an amateur.) The text can go next to it, on the right side.

This makes for a familiar symbol but still something new. Thing big picture and long term. As in, what symbol would make a 9 year-old in the Kenyan highlands smile when they see it just as well as an adult in Shoreditch?

Nevermind what you like. The question is, what would most of your potential users like?

A good logo could mean the difference between success and failure of a company (or coin). (But again, it's not what you think is good...)

+1

good point, remove the karmacoin lettering for sure

Nice looking logo with colorful elephant (and such) is one thing, but I believe what some currency are missing is to keep in mind the practical value of a *simple* monochrome denomination symbol (e.g. BTC).

The logo should be an appealing/marketing interpretation of a simpler/practical official symbol (should be like a font character that can fit in a few pixels).

I am not an artist, so I suggest here only a concept around two highly recognizable symbols: The dollar sign + the yin yang.

Graphically:
  - The dollar sign has a single middle line cut at the perimeter of the outer circle (do you see the yin yang?)
  - One can choose to enhance this into a marketing version with two reverse elephants heads (the ends of the S are the trunks and the two small half circles are the ears... do you see it?)

Just my humble contribution, not worth taking any credit. If any talented artists like it... then please feel free to derive something better.

I figure just a K with 2 lines in it would make more sense

I don't mind which elephant we use but we could use something like this for simple notation, or the icon for the coin when its displayed in small/tiny icon format for tabs, minimized windows etc...
but I agree with other posters if it doesn't have a K its not immediately obvious what it is.

A good logo could mean the difference between success and failure of a company (or coin). (But again, it's not what you think is good...)

its funny how you say that karmacoin should stay away from symbolism and then point to the pepsi logo (which is nothing more than a cheap knockoff of yinyang with the colors changed) as a good example.. lol
yinyang is a religious symbol used in both Daoism and Confucianism.. it also represents a balance of forces (light, dark, good, evil, man, woman etc) which is at odds with the Karma coin motto of "doing good is good" lol

please do not mix Karma with Dao they are completely different ideas and messages
it would be like calling your Coin the RepublicCoin and then using a Crown as your logo or having Easter coin with a picture of a Dog on it.

I agree simplicity is good and I agree that the elephant should stay.. having a mascot will help the cause.. so we should keep the message simple and NOT try to confuse people by mixing symbolism and ideologies.

Well aware. I used to teach Tao te Ching in China (where I live now).

I was suggesting coming up with a new symbol that seems familiar rather than "symbolism like a dharma wheel". No need to be technical about the origins of the Pepsi logo or doing something similar. we're going for emotional appeal, not relating the logo to history. I always go what has worked in some way for others. (Only the world's first logo was an original)

How about a black/white elephant? (An elephant head with the left side black and right side white, for example?)

Is it a sign? Or people just are afraid of price drop even lower...?

guys the coin needs community effort for the price to go up.
This coin got attention in the last few weeks because of its profitability for miners.
Now the community has to take over and show what karm really is about.
The new website will be a great start for this. Pumps and dumps will do the coin no good.

Website publishing is the most wanted thing. As description says, it is smth different than just a coin website.

Btw, who is so dumb to sell 100mio coins @4sat.. OMG... Is it so bad with coins future?! With what TOP, PENG and MRC are better. Even prices of those are not so low.
