My wallet won't sync past block 15915 now.

do you have the latest wallet version? download latest one, it should work
I have the latest one, It was working fine until I woke up this morning and noticed it was stuck on block 15915

Edit: I just re-downloaded the new wallet and it still didn't work. Then I deleted the blockchain and it still gets stuck at block 15915.

Mine isn't syncing either. I'm stuck at block 15915 as well. Stopped about 18 hours ago, was working up until then. I hope this isn't a permanent stoppage. I have several hundred thousand coins in my wallet. And yes, I have the latest client.
Yeah I hope it isn't permanent either because it wouldn't be to great to lose over a week of mining.

wonder if the price will be pushed down lower after this rape fest.....

No rape fest as they they were not able to get many coins due to the difficulty rising quickly. You can see the hashrate getting back to normal after they gave up. No need to worry.

Are you sure? It didn't go up quite as quickly as it should have to prevent the reaping.

Looking at the block chain: http://explorer.karmacoin.info/chain/Karmacoin it appears you are somewhat correct. The diff didn't quite rise as fast as it could have. This is public knowledge so I feel there is nothing wrong with posting this here.

My block counts per hour are (all times PST for 2/16/2014):

11 to 12 am = 59
12 to 1 pm = 211
1 to 2 pm = 190
2 to 3 pm = 102
3 to 4 pm = 6
4 to 5 pm = 9
5 to 6 pm = 11

So the average over those 7 hours is 83 blocks per hour which is above the 60 per hour ideal. Remember though that whomever put the amount of hashrate that we were seeing at this coin could have made a nice profit on at least a dozen other coins if they didn't choose Karma. The best protection from these attacks is for the price of Karma to rise so more miners are on the coin on a consistent basis to minimize the % hashrate increase. Thankfully this will average out over time and the length of the attack was very short in the grand scheme of things. If you are a consistent miner of Karma then you should see a decent average return as the diff and total network hashrate comes down.

It is good to see we are making progress and I hope we have more to come. I think there is room for improvement here though. Dev's what do you have to say about optimizing the KGW to react faster to massive hashrate changes? Maybe reduce the number of blocks before re-target or change the algorithm for calculating the next black diff to better reflect total network hashrate?  Vertcoin as an example seems to have a good system as the difficulty varies very little and the total network hash stays fairly high and constant. Of course Vertcoin uses N-factor Scrypt but that shouldn't make a difference in the KGW implementation.

The trick with reacting faster to massive hashrate changes is if you react too fast you have the problem where a multiminer with decent hash rate can dominate miningThere are a number of coins that have just implemented KGW that still have this issue (Reddcoin was one).  See https://forum.megacoin.in/index.php?topic=2791.0

The exploit was they would turn on their miners for about 20 blocks, then turn them off.  This caused difficulty to spike (since the reaction was quick), then drop way below where it should have been when they turned the miners off (because the algorithm tried to normalize over 14 blocks- since there was one block with a huge difficulty it drops the subsequent blocks to very low difficulties until it rises again).  They turned them back on again and would take advantage of a low diff rate for about 10 blocks, at which point the difficulty came back.  Meanwhile normal miners are basically blocked out by competing with a high difficulty or a huge hashrate.

To immunize against this, we changed the settings to almost what Vertcoin (and several others) have, this was the update that kicked in on block 15700 Feb 15th.  The difficulty does not adjust as quickly, but we are also not susceptible to the exploit.

We thought about other strategies but given the popularity of the coin, did not want to risk a new algorithm which could cause destabilization.  Instead we went with settings that have a good track record.

As always, open to suggestions.

As long as you have a backup of your wallet.dat file you are completely safe. In fact your actual wallet.dat file is fine. It sounds like you are just having an issue with your wallet client. Don't worry, as soon as you get it working and as long as you have a backup you are good to go

So I got it to work. First make a back up of your wallet.dat file (If you haven't already), Then re-download the latest client just to make sure you have the right one. Then go to the "Roaming" folder (If you are using windows, if you are using mac or linux go to where ever that folder would be on that OS) and delete the whole thing. Then run the karma client and let it sync either past where it usually gets stuck or all the way doesn't matter, Then close the wallet and replace the wallet.dat that it generated with your back up and relaunch the client and it should be fixed.

In roughly 5 days mining block reward will decline from 1.5 million to 1 million. If the site launches in roughly the same time, it will be a nice double punch.

I agree they are a blight on the crypto world but according to my calculations they only could have made 11 BTC worth if they mined every block during the attack period and that is if they sold them all at 3 sats. I am sure they didn't get every block. Still they didn't help and we are all glad it was short.

still enough to take away from genuine miners who are supporting this coin, i can only dread how badly they will hit karma coin once the value actually goes up.... when that will happen i cant say sadly lol

I've a question.

Look's like a large private pool is connected to network...
At this time is 1400Mhs network hashrate.
pool.karmacoin.info - 387Mhs
karma.hashstrike.com - 296Mhs
other officially announced at start page ~ 10-20Mhs
Black hole: ~700Mhs
Next.
Block 17840-17845 generated by K7SBPBYDkEPpDqpARgE9xBes7f1FZ6w68Z with total amount of 4869397,001 KARMAs. 811566,1668 average per block. Higher than other pools... Ok...

Some investigations in block explorer...
http://explorer.karmacoin.info/tx/d02563e283e1b438b9d02c19bddcad584fd661384b8346bea625f41df3f936fe
K7SBPBYDkEPpDqpARgE9xBes7f1FZ6w68Z sent appx 27517929.016 to KUMpz7KSH2ym3XVDFws3YhqapcA26JdQW5
Ok...

Sent, sent and sent...
And voila:
Code:
Address KUMpz7KSH2ym3XVDFws3YhqapcA26JdQW5
Details
Balance 2589363996.56565243 KAR
Transactions in 742
Received 6955117377.22357766 KAR
Transactions out 336
Sent 4365753380.65792523 KAR
omg... 2.6 billion... 77btc at 3e-8...

And yes, only K7SBPBYDkEPpDqpARgE9xBes7f1FZ6w68Z sent to KUMpz7KSH2ym3XVDFws3YhqapcA26JdQW5.

May be I'm wrong, but...

And now my question: is it possible 51% attack at KARMA network?

add/
From block 18100 to 18143 all blocks with reward > 1mio except one was generated by K7SBPBYDkEPpDqpARgE9xBes7f1FZ6w68Z, and smallest reward was appx 0.65mio.
So lucky )))

Feels like the devs knew the algo and how to highly increase the chances of getting the bonus rewards, or that someone found a way to do so. If it's the devs, it starts to make sense as to why the bonus rewards are so high..

best way to solve this problem is set exact block value (750k), because in crypto is not random really random. You can know block value in the future. people abuse it at doge, they will abuse it at karma too. Random block value is most stupid thing ever.

At this time is 1400Mhs network hashrate.
pool.karmacoin.info - 387Mhs
karma.hashstrike.com - 296Mhs
other officially announced at start page ~ 10-20Mhs
Black hole: ~700Mhs
Next.
Block 17840-17845 generated by K7SBPBYDkEPpDqpARgE9xBes7f1FZ6w68Z with total amount of 4869397,001 KARMAs. 811566,1668 average per block. Higher than other pools... Ok...

Some investigations in block explorer...
http://explorer.karmacoin.info/tx/d02563e283e1b438b9d02c19bddcad584fd661384b8346bea625f41df3f936fe
K7SBPBYDkEPpDqpARgE9xBes7f1FZ6w68Z sent appx 27517929.016 to KUMpz7KSH2ym3XVDFws3YhqapcA26JdQW5
Ok...

Sent, sent and sent...
And voila:
Code:
Address KUMpz7KSH2ym3XVDFws3YhqapcA26JdQW5
Details
Balance 2589363996.56565243 KAR
Transactions in 742
Received 6955117377.22357766 KAR
Transactions out 336
Sent 4365753380.65792523 KAR
omg... 2.6 billion... 77btc at 3e-8...

And yes, only K7SBPBYDkEPpDqpARgE9xBes7f1FZ6w68Z sent to KUMpz7KSH2ym3XVDFws3YhqapcA26JdQW5.

May be I'm wrong, but...

And now my question: is it possible 51% attack at KARMA network?

add/
From block 18100 to 18143 all blocks with reward > 1mio except one was generated by K7SBPBYDkEPpDqpARgE9xBes7f1FZ6w68Z, and smallest reward was appx 0.65mio.
So lucky )))

That worries me a lot. Someone could enlighten us?

lol that address almost has 16% of all KARM in existence on it lol

Feels like the devs knew the algo and how to highly increase the chances of getting the bonus rewards, or that someone found a way to do so. If it's the devs, it starts to make sense as to why the bonus rewards are so high..

I think dev needs some explaining to do here.

This wouldn't surprise me if it was true.
