If that could be done, then surely a better alternative would be to have a wallet that does that automatically by creating a running "genesis block" and keeping it say 6 months (or less) behind while retaining the last 6 months of blocks.

This is basically block-chain trimming, right? I am not a programmer, but I am a conceptualizer.

If I understand this, it would have to be set up so that it would be created every so many blocks... Like every 1-million blocks. So when the 1,000,001 block arrives it has code that automatically pulls in the information required. Then after 1,000 more blocks go by, the 1,000,001 block becomes block 1.  Is this possible to implement? We just need someone who can code it. I really think we should do this if possible. All problems would be solved.   Cool

I mentioned this before as suggestions to other Coins as something I'd like to see happen and work with a few people to achieve something like this.

What you would do is parse all the addresses of the current chain in a snapshot, then a new genesis Block would be created with 100% premine and all the Coins sent to the addresses of the previous chain. You guys should talk to SuperClam from CLAMS, he would be able to give you a better idea about it but you will need to look into the znort Blockparser https://github.com/znort987/blockparser and the sidecoin project https://github.com/AugurProject/sidecoin

Still fuzzy about how to be able to do it myself though but maybe I could help in some way? I haven't been able to track down anyone that was able to help me with it, I had talked to a developer from CamorraCoin and he was going to help but then disappeared.

***MintCoin Official IRC Chat***
#MintcoinOfficial and #MintCasino

#MintcoinOfficial - Community discussion, support, and development news:
Hosts: Cryptomommy, Fuzzbawls, Supasonic
Bots: MINTip-Bot, MintFact-bot, ShapeShift, LightningTips
Bot Developers: Fuzzbawls, crzybilly, AlphaTech

This is the main channel for MintCoin now and a great place to talk about anything Minty! Even though it's just getting off the ground, we've had fairly consistent and steady activity. General discussion, support requests, MintCoin information, and development updates are all provided here.

#MintCasino - IRC based mini-games and gambling:
Hosts: AlphaTech, Fuzzbawls
Bots: MINTip-Bot, ShapeShift, TheCasino
Bot Developers: Fuzzbawls, AlphaTech

Want to take a risk and have some fun with your MINT? Head on over to the #MintCasino channel and give the various games a try! MINTip-Bot and ShapeShift are both present in the channel so your IRC MINT balance carries over from the main channel.

Upon joining, it is a good idea to register your IRC nickname. This can be done by typing the following (only needs to be done once per nickname):
Code:
/msg NickServ REGISTER password youremail@example.com
Replace 'password' and 'youremail@example.com' above with your desired password and email address. See https://freenode.net/faq.shtml#userregistration for full details.

Once you are registered, you'll be able to utilize the bots and collect MINT from tips and random "rains", as well as tip other users and play the casino games. For a full list of available commands, you can type the following in the channel:
Code:
!bothelp

Supporting the developers and maintainers of these IRC services is always appreciated, so if you are feeling generous, you can type the following:
Code:
!donate
This will give you all the information about various ways to donate to each specific developer, as well as how to donate to the MintGuardians and MintcoinFund programs

As far as cryptsy's mintcoin wallet being in maintenance. it is not an issue with the blockchain but rather an internal issue that effected a few users.

We discovered a bug in security protocol that would see some transactions as unauthorized withdrawals and debit a users account for the amount of the transaction. To prevent any others users from being effected I have taken the wallet offline until the issue can be fixed. This was present in a few coins Saturncoin, Bluecon and Mintcoin.

I am hoping to have the wallet back up within 48 hours. We apologize for the delay it has caused

Out of curiosity can you share this error? Or point me in the correct direction. So many coins are descendants of MINT.

I interpreted an "internal issue" with a "bug in security protocol" as a Cryptsy specific protocol issue.  However, I'm now seeing this isn't completely clear one way or the other.  Perhaps Cryptsy can comment further?

The 48 hour timeframe has come and gone. Can we please get an update as to the status of Cryptsy's MINT wallet??? For reference, the wallet went into maintenance mode on or around Aug 15 and has remained there with no communication whatsoever aside from the post quoted above.

Cryptsy is a total joke . They do not hire competent techs who can solve any coin issue. Take a look at the page that says condition of coin and you will see at least 10% of all coins are in maintenance.  I have had lost coins there for 7 months and no help just endless lies like we have our top techs working on the issue. I will escalate it for you to lvl 11 tech support.  What a joke of an exchange.  Cryptsy kills coins. Should be there motto. Crypsty the great coin killer how proud those guys should be to their contribution to killing cryptocurrency. They should be so proud.  This last dump can only be attributed to no external trading on the Number #1 mint exchange for a month.  The better question should be why does Cryptsy want Mintcoin to fail?Huh?? I have lost at least 1.5 btc on this downturn.  So yes I am pissed.    Plus $ 100 in reddcoin that has vanished into their pockets

@mullick
Should we all move the mint from cryptsy to another trading site like https://poloniex.com?

The best scenario would be for Cryptsy to get their act together and not let many wallets in maintenance for months.

Once they do get their MINT wallet out of maintenance it would be wise to transfer coins to another exchange that is not as careless about their customers.

Poloniex doesn't allow people from New York to trade. I think that is worthy of boycotting them altogether. I have been using Bter mainly, and a little on Bleutrade

Poloniex doesn't allow people from New York to trade.

Due to BitLicense and Poloniex being based in the USA, right?
