Is Bitcoin a Digital Gold??

With what is happening now, I suppose the bitcoin is worthy of calling digital gold, although it is a digital currency but not yet used as a currency for paying commodities.

I agree with the poster that bitcoin is never a digital gold but a digital currency. Bitcoin was developed as decentralized digital currency, as a means of transacting goods and service on P2P basis without the interference of any third party. There was no mention of bitcoin as an investment in the whitepaper. It was so designed to reduced cost of transaction between peer to peer as compare to when transacted between conventional banks where  charges will be paid and reduce the profits of the people involved.

Yes, Bitcoin is like a precious treasure like a precious gem that we have because it can change our lives. This is in the same category as gold. In the course of time it has become a major cryptocurrency in the world and even though its value has dropped dramatically today I think it's still Bitcoin is the core of world cryptocurrency.

No when it comes to physical feature obviously bitcoin don't have it but instead it is an agreement that everybody agrees to its market price when they invest on bitcoin. But yes they have similarity and that is both are profitable investing on it. However, I prefer to invest on bitcoin than gold for the market price volatility is good compared to gold.

Hello friends this is right question ,bitcoin is a digital currency gold so i have 1 bitcoin i am very happy so please save own bitcoin ,I agree with the poster that bitcoin is never a digital gold but a digital currency. well, I don't think anyone says that bitcoin is digital gold, but I think they assume that bitcoin has a high enough value, like gold, so many say that bitcoin is digital gold because the price is quite expensive.

Obviously I feel that there is a real difference that bitcoin is a digital currency and cannot be said to be digital gold, although it is clear that the similarities about usability and results received from both are valuable for those who have.

After reading a lot of posts made by people on this forum, I realized about 75% of them see Bitcoin as a digital Gold. For me, I don't think Bitcoin is a digital gold. Cryptocurrency or Bitcoin to be precise, was developed to be a safer option for transaction of goods and services and also the best mode of payment. Bitcoin was introduced to disable all the restrictions that banks and the financial system presented. A lot of people have lost huge sums of money because they saw bitcoin as a digital gold. I know others will argue that bitcoin has also made people rich but for me, I don't think it is advisable to consider Bitcoin as a digital gold. Bitcoin is a digital currency.

Yes bitcoin is certainly digital gold as all its properties and digital value is same as that if gold . So it is always compared with gold as gold is used as an asset for one as it's proven that gold's price is evergreen which is same as that of bitcoins price .

You wont agree with me but I believe bitcoin is digital gold because of below reasons,

1. Gold is unique and we don't see other metals with same properties like gold and bitcoin is unique too because its demand, popularity and mainly because it is the first of its kind
2. Like gold is valuable among other metals  Bitcoin is the most valuable digital asset I see among other cryptos in today crypto world
3. Gold is a standard or for most fiat currencies and bitcoin is a standard for most digital currencies that is why most financial experts predict the future prices of cryptocurrencies by considering bitcoin status
4. Because gold is hard to buy it is known as a symbol and also for many people in the crypto bitcoin is a symbol of victory because it is the kind of cryptos
5. Any one who knows how valuable gold is main idea is to collect as much as they can and in the crypto world most investors and traders main mission is to collect bitcoin as much as they can for there future to take profits and that is why even most traders do invest in altcoins at the end they end up in selling them to buy more and more bitcoins


Because of the above I think we can consider bitcoin as digital gold but some may have different ideas and I respect them because it is against the bitcoins vision which is to become a global digital currency and not digital gold but the reality is very different at the moment

It can't be taken literally. It is truly obvious for a bitcoin not to be a gold physically but in terms of its worth, it can be considered as a gold gem in the digital world. Bitcoin's worth is relatively high compared to other digital currencies. It has been established and it has proven its worth. Thus, it is unquestionable why some compare btc's worth with gold.

for the first time bitcoin release, im sure they want to make it like what you think about, but now its different because of there are price differences between one coin with other coin, one fiat with other fiat. so, people can take profit from this difference.
just not bounty hunters, but ico makers think that crypto can make people rich.
for some people that use coin for transaction, bitcoin is the other media to exchange items, but for money seeker bitcoin is digital asset.

No matter what you think about the effectiveness of a cryptocurrency. What matters is what the public think. My mother knows what Bitcoin is. This is not the case for ETH or others.

In terms of scalability, the BTC is not a currency made to buy a coffee. We should stop belittling it. It is a currency designed for situations like Venezuela, Turkey or such

At the current price, it can be said for sure! Bitcoin and the altcoin are very attractive for long term investment! Top # 100 on coinmarketcap is always my choice for investments!

Yeah if you talk about its characteristics. Although bitcoin is a digital currency, but its function has changed a lot and its characteristics are more similar to gold. The price is limited and the limited amount makes its characteristics similar to gold, that's what makes many people more interested in investing bitcoin than using it as a payment tool, after all, the unstable bitcoin price has not fulfilled the requirements as a currency.

Bitcoin can be a digital gold, could be an assets, a currency for direct spending and can be an investments for both short and long term. In general, it will depend upon the users on how they will see fit for them the use of Bitcoin in which these are the unique characteristics of Bitcoin that it can be flexible to use by anyone.
