Thank you very much. I will give it a go and see. Appreciate your help Smiley

Final question, the command line  cgminer -o stratum+tcp://solo.ckpool.org:3333 -u "zzzzMY BITCOIN ADDRESSzzzZ.0 -p x has a .0 at the end of the bitcoin address, this is not some sort of typo, so I put my bitcoin address and add a .0 at the end??

Thank you very much.

You don't need to.  That's for different workers.  If you have several different miners and you wanted to be able to distinguish them from one another on a pool then you could do that with  a different number for each miner.

For solo mining on one device you don't need that.

I haven't tried 20.10.  Others have tried other versions of the .10 beta's and have had trouble.  I would probably try the 20.4 LTS.  Or switch to a Pi 4, which is what most of us did.

But, these instructions are a little more detailed.  Give them a whirl to verify you didn't miss something.

I just unboxed and setup my two R606's after my move.  My older unit is flashing, in a wig-wag fashion, the power LED's.  It seems to be working so far but it never did this before.

Is there a meaning to this flashing?
Thanks,
Sam

If it's flashing continuously it means overheating. Check that the fan is spinning.

Yep the fan is spinning.  The power lights started flashing on power up.  It's been running for a couple hours now and is stable.  So it doesn't seem to be overheating.

Didn't the early units have some issue with false overheat indication?  This one is #33 at the end of the S/N.

Could very well be. The temp sensors were for some reason not handling rated voltage so a fix was applied but we didn't see the issue in bench testing, it showed up later on deployed units. That's probably all it is. An updated firmware can tell the difference between a bad temp sensor and an overheat so the flashing is different for the two conditions but yours probably doesn't have it. We were at least about 50 units in.

I'm thinking that's the issue.  The unit has been running fine and stable overnight.  So I'll run it this way till your new units are available.  Keep us posted on possible ETA's.
Thanks,
Sam

Code:
I am having issues with running cgminer with my rpi 3b+ and gekkoscience newpac. I installed the newpac correctly as I get the following output with the [tt]-n[/tt] command:

[code]
[2021-01-30 06:20:49.480] USB all: found 6 devices - listing known devices
.USB dev 0: Bus 1 Device 5 ID: (id number is here)
Manufacturer: 'GekkoScience'
Product: 'NewPac Bitcoin Miner'
[2021-01-30 06:20:49.480] 1 known USB devices

I joined slushpool and now I am having issues with cgminer resolving the url. I enter the following command:

Code:
/cgminer -o stratum2+tcp://v2.stratum.slushpool.com/u95GEReVMjK6k5YqiSFNqqTnKU4ypU2Wm8awa6tmbmDmk1bWt -u (my username) -p (my password)

And the output is:

Code:
[2021-01-30 06:26:07.824] Started cgminer 4.11.1
[2021-01-30 06:26:07.825] Probing for an alive pool
[2021-01-30 06:26:07.830] Failed to resolve (?wrong URL) stratum2+tcp:

And it eventually fails and returns me to the bash prompt. I also attempted removing the url and replacing it with the IP address and get the same output. I tried different servers with no success. I even tried using the v1 stratum server URLs and I get the following output:

[2021-01-30 06:28:56.109] Started cgminer 4.11.1

And it doesn't go any further and returns me to the bash prompt. The rpi has a dedicated IP and I set it up my router to allow all ports to work for that up address. Any idea how I can resolve this issue and get to mining?[/code]

Try using a normal stratum server and not a “V2” one. Also try the test.bat file and see if it runs with that aswell.

For a normal stratum server, do you mean something like stratum+tcp://stratum.slushpool.com:3333?

I can try the test.bat later in the week when I get access to a windows PC.

Try you closest one from this list:-

https://help.slushpool.com/en/support/solutions/articles/77000423438-bitcoin-mining-urls-stratum-v1-

Also your command line looks a bit odd. Does your bitcoin address start with a "u"??

Should it not read:-

Code:
/cgminer -o stratum+tcp://stratum.slushpool.com:3333 -u 95GEReVMjK6k5YqiSFNqqTnKU4ypU2Wm8awa6tmbmDmk1bWt -p (whatever password you use)

Thanks for your help so far Wink

No, my wallet address doesn't start with the letter u. I am using the url provided over at https://help.slushpool.com/en/support/solutions/articles/77000423566

I've tried a bunch of them and get the same error for some reason and I don't know how to resolve it.

Hi guys. May I know if I have one particular usb newpac that can't always shows no 'found 0 chip" on cgminer, no matter which usb port I am using.
What should I do to solve this problem? Or is there some issues with this usb newpac?
Thanks in advance

Need more details.

What USB hub are you using? Is it mains powered?
What OS are you using?
What version of cgminer?

Try the server i linked above with your specific username and password and see of that works.

I tried the closest server and I get the following output:

[2021-02-15 15:00:23.243] Started cgminer 4.11.1

It doesn't progress any further and after some time (10 seconds or so?) It goes back to the bash prompt.

For the cgminer command, after the -u I entered my slushpool username. After that failed I then tried my BTC wallet address and get the same outcome. It simply starter the cgminer and doesn't progress any further.

I wonder if my ISP is blocking stratum to ports 3333 to 3339. I might try tethering the raspberry pi off my phone to see if that works but I want to exhaust other options first.
