I can't wait.  Still working through learning the nuances of C.A.T. but I agree that that capability would be a nice option for fire and forget.

Question: does the bot attempt to buy and sell right away to make a profit? Or does the bot make a purchase and try to sell at the specified price hoping to make a profit? I just don't want to be holding coins and the price drop thus losing money.
Any feedback would be great!

Ugh....I've given up on Cryptsy.....constant website and login issues....rubbish volumes now.....its just not worth it.

Moved to Bittrex and things seem a lot more reliable, and volumes are good.

Another point on not sensing/stopping buying on a market thats about to fall.....

Currently the %min gain is not checked retrospectively. Currently CAT works like this....

* Wait for difference between bid and ask to be > your min. gain (say 3%)
* Place a buy order
* Lets say the market starts to top out, and the bid/ask difference falls to 0.1%
* CAT does nothing with your buy order, leaves it where it is...and you end up buying at a time when bid/ask diff. is very low.

I would like to see an option to check the % diff. on EXISTING buy orders.....so it would work like this....

* Wait for difference between bid and ask to be > your min. gain (say 3%)
* Place a buy order
* Lets say the market starts to top out, and the bid/ask difference falls to 0.1%
* CAT sees this and cancels buy order....and waits until diff. is over your min amount again

Simple to add. I appreciate this may end up taking longer to get buy orders filled but its another tool to prevent our biggest problem which is ending up buying at too high a price.

...also Sampey....the Sell All if % option....Correct me if I'm wrong but is this taking the % drop from the Ask price ?

If so this is incorrect....in a panic sell situation, CAT will end up selling at the best current Bid price instead.

Another question on this option....does it sell ALL orders (like it says), or only the ones that have dropped lower than your max loss % threshold ?

Question for everyone who uses this bot..

Should I be making smaller or larger trades?

Or will the program buy the quantity available that it can sell for a profit..

Any feedback would be greatly appreciated!

Okay let me try to rephrase my questions

to get the best results. Should I be trading smaller amounts? Example: 50 dark coins. Rather than 300 dark coins for the specified settings in the trading bot.. Or am I missing something?

Brian

the STR volume is higher
https://bx.in.th/BTC/STR/

and also this exchange - btc38.com
http://www.btc38.com/trade.html?mk_type=btc&btc38_trade_coin_name=str

I see a lot of good arbitrage opp between STR and BTC

Vag:
I don't think the amount really matters. You'll get a higher ROI on small amounts because they are more likely to fill and don't push the market. But, not a big deal.

Have requested this before...but hey...

In the Ping Pong Generator window, next to the live BTC Balance, could you also display the <Available> BTC for new trades. This is calculated by BTC balance minus all of the Total Buy Pools.

Reason : If you have lots of BTC in your markets buy pools...waiting to place orders when conditions are right...it is difficult to keep track of how much BTC you actually have available for new orders. Its quite easy to end up over placing orders so you run out of BTC.

Maybe even add a checkbox when you request a new ping if you are going over your available balance ?

What is your roadmap with C.A.T. Sampey ? I know you have been mega busy with adding the new exchanges...which is great...but are there plans to start looking at the many feature requests ppl have made ?

thanks Smiley

I think i could add this feature in the September release.

I'm planning to add some of these request in the 2.1 Version, and i hope that Mintpal will officially release the APIV2

It's important to understand that some request are too much "user-custom" and C.A.T. is used by a LOT of people.
I Can't add all the request, i must evaluate each one.

Example : nobody in 1 years ask me about a "Trade Always On Top" mode. Wich means BUY->SELL or SELL->BUY always on top of book orders, even if there's a loss. Now there's a request, but only 1 users ask me about this feature......

I'd be interested in Technical Analysis indicators being added to C.A.T.  I would even be willing to pay for it.
There's already a library with around 200 functions for that so you wouldn't need to build from scratch.
See /http://www.ta-lib.org.
Stoch, RSI and Volume would be indicators I'd be interested in to begin with for when to allow buys and when to sell.

Problem with indicators is that i don't have historical data from the API Calls. So it's impossible to calculate this data.
The only way is to buy a server and save on a database all the Exchange data every X minutes, and then C.A.T. will talk with this server and  calculate markets indicators.

Too much complex.
There are a lot of sites with indicators.  Wink

Sampey:
It looks like all the following have agreed with me over the last page of the thread that this is needed. It's really important.

*However*, the point is not to trade on top of book. C.A.T. already can trade at X market depth which is a great feature.

All that is requested is to "ignore" the min gain %.

I would prefer to constantly trade in the min% no matter if i am at a loss.

Yes I get orders stuck sitting for some time.. That's what I thought the bot would work (average spread between bid and ask).

I can't wait.  Still working through learning the nuances of C.A.T. but I agree that that capability would be a nice option for fire and forget.

* CAT does nothing with your buy order, leaves it where it is...and you end up buying at a time when bid/ask diff. is very low.

(This one is a little different - he is only looking to have active orders when the "Min Diff" for the market is higher than X%).

I would agree this is probably not the point of C.A.T (to use indicators) right now.

It's closer to a market maker bot.
