The Taliban may not care about anything other than money. But Afghanistan is playing good cricket now. The Taliban will not decide to stop it now. They now want to make the whole of Afghanistan their own. They will also revive the Afghan economy and try not to upset the people of Afghanistan again. So they will not decide to stop other sports including cricket.
When the news first came that Taliban took over Kabul, a number of left-liberal voices (i.e pro-Taliban) were flooding the social media claiming that this is the more "moderate" Taliban and they are not as bad as the ones who were in power before 2001. And within the next 48 hours, we have had confirmed reports of government officials executed point blank, women shot dead for wearing tight dress (Balkh province) and those who celebrated the independence day with the Afghan national flag getting shot at (Jalalabad). On top of that, they have rounded up thousands of young girls, to be forcibly married to the fighters. Under these circumstances, I really don't think that things will be very smooth for cricket in that country.

Well looks like some pretty interesting discussion is going on here, I was too thinking of the Afghani Cricket future that day, it's almost certain that there won't be any National team unless Taliban is creating a cricket association and going into ICC I think top players like Rashid Khan and Nabi would move to some big middle East country and play leagues around the world to earn good money while rest of cricketers might have to move to other nations and try into teams of these countries, best option could be Oman and UAE, they are closest to Afghanistan and will love to create a good cricket team.

I have a question isn’t there a rule of ICC which says governments can’t interfere with the cricket board, but with Taliban in place Afghanistan will be in breach of this rule. Also will other countries welcome Afghanistan player’s now, because there’s always a risk of Taliban fighters boarding with the team, and hence I feel that it’s the end of road for Afghanistan national player’s. Majority of people are scared to death in Afghanistan and we are talking about sports when everyone is running for their life . I do not want to see the team getting banned because they have some exceptional talent but the idea of Taliban boarding a flight with players is silly to the core .

Guess in the last meeting ICC mentioned about maximum 12-14 teams for the first tourney. On automatic qualification Our PIG 3 were reluctant to play any qualification matches due to schedule and other cricketing nation also in favor of existing ICC ranking based qualification, we have to wait and watch for the final confirmation. T-10 seems perfect for Olympics but ICC already cleared that they will start this journey with the T-20.
In the Olympic football tournament, a total of 16 teams took part and this will be an ideal number for the cricket tournament, IMO. But the big question is regarding automatic qualification. In the Olympics, only the host nation gains automatic qualification (and for the 2028 Olympics, that means the United States will gain direct entry). Everyone else (including teams like Brazil and Spain) played qualifier matches. And I don't think that the Pig-3 are going to accept this. Imagine India playing against Myanmar and England playing against Bulgaria. Lol yeah forget about Myanmar or Bulgaria. Top 5 teams won't even play against existing bottom 5 teams for the qualification. They are playing their schedule card very well, its a lame excuse but it has some merits as well. Just look at England, New Zealand knee jerk reaction on upcoming Bangladesh and Pakistan bilateral tours respectively or upcoming Pakistan vs Afghanistan series.

That will be a problem, as there is no system of automatic qualification in any of the Olympic sports. Even the defending champions have to play the qualifier matches in sports such as baseball, football, basketball, volleyball and hockey. The only exception is given to the hosts, who are given direct entry. I am sure that the pig-3 and other self-proclaimed pigs like New Zealand would not agree to this idea. Now it needs to be seen who will blink first - the IOC, or the ICC. In case of the former, I don't think that they will treat cricket as a VIP sport and give it a luxury that is not granted for others.

Did anyone saw some of the memes that has been getting around related to the future sports activities in Afghanistan. For now the Taliban needs everything under their control. Afghanistan looked highly progressive as a new team, and we as an outsider doesn't know in what situation they've practiced and progressed. Now the pain is big, it takes long to reach and get co-ordinated.

It is sad. Afghanistan was perhaps the team that made maximum progress during the last 10-12 years. They started off as an affiliate member, then progressed to an associate, and then finally they received the test status in 2017. And unlike many of the other associate nations, Afghanistan never relied on expat players. Now all that progress is lost. I don't know whether cricket will survive under Taliban rule. Some of the national players are based outside the country, but the domestic cricket will be disrupted.

I was watching the news closely about the situation and there are some protest from woman from some parts of Afghanistan, earlier they used to execute people in public when they protest and this time they are allowing these to happen. But the general viewpoint is that since there is international media covering these things, the Taliban is letting that happen and once that dies down they will enforce their barbarian rule. Sports will be affected without a doubt and Rashid Khan who is their successful player conveyed his situation as he is not able to help his relatives back home.

It is a just a matter of time before the ICC suspends Afghanistan from its primary membership. They did the same when South Africa implemented apartheid policies. So why should it be any different this time? If they allow Afghanistan to participate in the ICC tournaments and receive funding, then there is no guarantee that the funds will not flow into the Taliban treasury. Hopefully Afghan players like Rashid Khan and Mujibur Rahman will be able to make a living by playing in franchise leagues around the world.

I am not sure what action they will take but they should ban Afghanistan from playing International cricket until this issue is solved. At the moment Taliban controls that country but has not formed any government. After the 31st most probably they will form the government. You can expect a decision by ICC after the Taliban confirms that they now have officially taken over Afghanistan.

No, they are not against Cricket. ICC monitors Afghanistan's situation closely, I suppose. Several countries have shifted their attitude and are willing to accept Taliban government if the present situation continues. So far, I haven't heard anything about the suspension of Afghanistan Cricket by the ICC. However, I'm waiting for the ICC's official decision on this matter.

The ECB is claiming that their new franchise league (The Hundred) was a resounding success in terms of revenues and viewership. https://www.espncricinfo.com/story/the-hundred-2021-ecb-set-to-increase-women-s-hundred-salaries-committed-to-double-headers-1274466These are some of their claims: 1. More than half a million tickets sold, despite the pandemic 2. 16 million plus viewers on TV 3. 55% of those who purchased the tickets were watching cricket on the ground for the first time 4. 57% of those who watched the tournament in BBC/Sky were watching cricket for the first time in 2021 5. Children constituted 19% of all the admissions If what they are claiming is indeed true, then these are encouraging signs.

Which team do you have a chance to win? For both the teams, the ODI matches are more important than the T20. They need to finish within the top-8 in ICC ODI World Cup Super League, in order to avoid qualification matches for 2023 World Cup. And I would put Ireland ahead at this point, since their players are in form and they have the home advantage. They performed creditably against South Africa, although before that they had a disappointing outing in the Netherlands. On the other hand, Zimbabwe performed very poorly against Bangladesh at home.

Also I don’t even remember when I got excited to see Zimbabwe play in recent year’s, because earlier one could expect them to create an upset but these days they don’t perform at all.

^^^ Ireland is currently at 7th position in the table, but it will be hard for them to maintain it. They have played a total of 12 ODIs - won 3 and lost 8. One ended in no result. The 8th placed New Zealand on the other hand have played just 3 ODIs (and won all three). Ireland has played half of their available 24 matches, including a three-match series against Netherlands. They had a good opportunity to get 30 points, but they managed to win only one out of the three matches against Netherlands. Now they need to win at least 5-6 out of their remaining 12, and that too against tough opponents.

Zimbabwe is comparatively with BangladeshCan compete very well. Today I will put Zimbabwe ahead of Ireland.

Now Zimbabwe is going down very badly in all formats in today match against Ireland they are just 117/7 which is very bad from them in reply Ireland is 14/0 in Just 3 overs mean It's just nothing special for them to chase this target and take lead in this series.
