Here comes the first unpredictable result! Absolutely everyone believed in the victory of the Netherlands, and the Czech Republic wins 2-0!
By the way, even without the red card Czech Republic looked quite good... Congratulations to Czechs with the win!

I am completely disappointed in the performance of the Netherlands. I expected better performance from Depay and Wijnaldum. They played very badly. Lots of gamblers have lost bets today. I never thought a team like the Czech Republic would be able to beat the Netherlands 2-0. The Czech Republic played great.

The Netherlands outperformed itself in the group stage, but its problems were clear today.
The Czech Republic, with its group and organization, is capable of disturbing any upcoming competitor.
The technical, psychological and mental difference between Koeman's stage and Frank de Boer's stage is very, very, very big

Big mistake from Matthijs de Ligt. He got the red card when almost 40 minutes were remaining in the match.

He fully intended to touch the ball a la goalkeeper in the box, a brainfart moment right there...not the kind of thing you expect to see from a CB worth almost 90M, maybe lack of experience got the better of him in such a crucial match. Still, very dumb thing to do, ended up costing them the game

If you have observed the Dutch National team in international tournaments all the way from the past, you should be knowing by now that they are bottlers
I don't remember at anytime all the years I have been watching football where they came out the tournament as champions, despite always being one of the favorites.

Each tournament that comes (world cup or Euros), they always have a good squad but for some reason, they exit the tournaments in a weird way

They do often seem to under-achieve, given the players they've got.
That half of the draw is really opening up now, you'd bet on the winner of England-Germany to reach the final. And of course, talking of teams that have good players but always under-perform in big tournaments, I think everyone is expecting Germany to win this one

I like the way Belgium plays, De Bruyne is a very talented player and the team is very strong and young. Portugal has an edge in player experience, but I'm not sure if that will be enough to beat Belgium. The mutch is very difficult and I would not bet on it, this match is good in order to watch it and enjoy watching a good match.

After such good results until now, I expected it to be an easy win for The Netherlands.  The game started weak and ended in a disaster for them. Quite sad. On the other hand, it may be good luck for Denmark (unless another surprise happens)

I really thought Czech Republic didn't have the firepower to win but you know what ....that red card changed everything for the Netherlands and put them at a disadvantage.  
Players became reckless and forgot their defensive duties in trying to get an equalizer but the Czechs threatened more and were rewarded with a beautiful second goal and it was game over for the Dutch.

Am hoping Belgium wins their match as I don't see Portugal defending this one...

What a great play by Czechia. I was expecting them to show strength but this was a great performance both defensive and offensive. De Ligt's red card was definitely make things easier for them but even before that card Czechia played slightly better, this score is not surprising at all after we saw that match. Netherlands was favorite before the game but they couldn't put that winning performance in pitch. Patrik Schick is Czechia's savior in this tournament, brilliant performance, 4 goals in 4 matches.

I think belgium will win this one because compared to portugal they have a lot of players who can make a difference not to mention that lukaku seem to be on top form he scored three goals so far with great assists from de bruyne not to mention the hazard brothers on the other hand only ronaldo showed great performance from the portugal side and especialy on major games like this one.

Who would have expected the Czech to win in such fashion, De ligt getting sent was probably the biggest factor for the loss, but it's still somewhat inexcusable looking at their chances of making it to the next after the draws were determined.

I hope it wouldn't be same Belgium, I've got quite a lot at stake on them to win, even at regular time 🤞

If you look at the statistics of the meetings of these teams, the Czech Republic won the Netherlands more often... Honestly, for some reason I believed the statistics, but I did not believe that such a strong Holland could lose today!

Happy to see Santos has dropped Fernandes today again. Trying to accommodate him reshapes the team and they tend to suffer defensively. He’s presence makes them play two holding midfielders and since the wingers don’t help their fullbacks, their opponent’s fullbacks have the freedom to go on and off around the edges.

If Portugal holding midfielders tries to come to the wings, the opponents returns and try going in thru the midfield, making them stretch too much.
This 3-man midfield is the best for them and it guilds the team since Ronaldo and Bernardo doesn’t drop back to help the fullbacks cover up when the overlap.

Yeah after the first round, a lot of people have said that was one of the easiest group and it is the reason why the Netherlands got 9 points.
Today everything is wrong with Netherlands, Malen's getting alone with the goal and lost, De Ligt's red card, Depay's low level, Wijnaldum's lack of attendance at all, and of course the strange change from Frank de Boer with Malen's exit and Promes subbed in.
Neither Promes is a player who can add something big in attack, on the contrary, Malen is currently several stages better, nor is Promes a player who can strengthen the defense and fill the gaps after playing with 10, so it can be said that this change made the Netherlands play with 9 players instead of 10.
