Mbappe is very young and already one of the best players in the world. If he has shown a desire to play for Real Madrid, it seems to me that Madrid should consider this deal. Especially since Benzema is a key player who will be leaving the club this summer.

Talking about Mbappe and Madrid at this time it seems that PSG is starting to feel uncomfortable and like giving an ultimatum to Mbappe to make a decision whether he will extend the contract or leave PSG as soon as possible.

Manchester City didn't want Gundogan to remain in the club. If they had wanted him to remain in the club his contract would have been renewed before now. The club intentionally waited for his contract to end so that he could leave. The 32 years old German midfielder was not treated well by City. He would have been offered at least a one-year contract because of his contribution to the success of the club. And he is still strong with a lot of experience.

The fact that Gundogan was the captain of City team that won the treble and he accepted lesser value contract from Barcelona shows that he wanted to be at Barcelona for a long time. I mean why wouldn't you say yes to more money with the team you captained to win the treble when the other offer is less money with a team that wasn't even out of group stages at UCL? It has to be some personal preference type of thing that will make it a bit harder. In the end he got what he wanted and I think that's what matters to players.

As you said, yes Gundogan is a great replacement for Busquets, but I don't think Barcelona would trust him straight away as captain especially in his first season.

If you look deeper, then maybe you will find the figure of the captain who is most likely to lead Barcelona next season. Sergi Roberto, Marc-André ter Stegen and Frenkie de Jong will probably be up for that responsibility over the next season. So I believe Ilkay Gundogan doesn't deserve the captain's armband yet as he's not a player known for his loyalty as a new players. Araujo might have been more appropriate even though he was young.

I haven't seen any credible news about PSG selling Mbappe. Messi has left PSG. Rumors are being heard that PSG is also interested in selling Neymar. If PSG management sells Mbappe now, the PSG team will be very weak next season. It seems unlikely that PSG will sell the three main players in the squad at the same time. But if PSG wanted to form a completely new team, they could do so.
