Why don't you ask SP to sell you 29 x SP30s and that you'll pay for them in 6 months let's see how that will work out for you. The reason I switched to Toom.im hosting was because at that hosting rate with SP I would lose for sure 100%. So switching to Toom.im was the natural thing to do to minimize the loss and expenses in order to get as close to the ROI as possible. Of course SP themselves suggested to do that, which of course is good advise because paying $500 a month for 1 miner is just something that's not going to happen. Yes I agree that I end up with 10TH more but that's at the cost of an extra 14,500 Watts altogether.

Anyway we will see in 6-12 months time, I hope I am wrong and that I can get my money back. Keep in mind that people aren't support to worry about only breaking even, if you took that money and bought shares in a company or did some other investment you could make a nice profit instead of being in a situation of simple trying to get your money back from mining.

Why do you guys keep pre-ordering...it is always a bad deal for the purchaser.  I used to feel bad for people that got burned on these pre-orders, but after it has happened over and over and over and over and over again...wake up.  Stop pre-ordering or just expect to loose $$$ on them.  How are people surprised every time a pre-order goes wrong still?

FWIW, any investment is a gamble, especially "company's", if you could make "a nice profit" from one why did you invest in BTC? Sounds like you may have "jumped into the deep end without learning to swim" or "put all your eggs in one basket" by making some (me thinks some uneducated, quick) calculations and "threw caution to the wind" with the unknowns, in hopes for some fast cash and easy money. I sincerely do hope you at least break even.

These are impressive units! Definitely the "Big Boys Toys" of the Bitcoin mining world.

I got them all hooked up, and they were up and mining as soon as I logged in and entered my pool details. Damn, that was easy. I hung around for a while watching them, and stressed myself out a little bit when they stopped mining. I should have just walked away and left them to it, knowing that they do a series of performance stress-tests to find the optimimum operating speed before PSU/ASIC failure. Sure enough, they settled down into their optimum groove all by themselves, probably still adjusting as they have only been running about 16 hours so far.

These bad boys are the rockstars of my collection. Hash rate at the pool as at 16 hours:

SP30B 4.4 TH/s

On my to-do list:
* Upgrade the firmware to the latest version
* Install the rubber feet. I think this might reduce vibration noise.

We're having no trouble with cooling. We should be able to fill that rack without a hitch. If there were something 2x as power dense than an SP30, we should be able to cool that too. I'm a little disappointed with how easy it's been.

I was doing some work on our router/server today, and I found the most comfortable place to be (as long as you have earplugs on) is inside the hot aisle, with about half your body in front of the SP30s and half in front of our half-full medium-density rack. That way, you can lean forward to get in the cool airstream if you get too hot, or lean back to take on the SP30 exhaust if you get too cold. Sitting outside the hot aisle in our DC is just too windy and cold to be comfortable.

Regular maybe, even though I have a feeling that it's close to doable. Not under optimal conditions, but possible.

@jtoomim One more question about the cooling for my personal knowledge. What you needed more for your super cooling? Money or knowledge? My guts tells me that the "custom" cooling itself didn't cost that much compared to the cost of the full rack filled with SP30 miners, but it's so efficient because of the airflow knowledge that you have. Am I right?
