Can you break that down a bit more.

So the fork was caused by not enough people actually using Qora? Thats common with new networks right? Not really an issue with Qora itself?

It was caused by not enough people unlocking their wallet to stake, which is what secures the network. You don't need everyone to stake, but at least enough to make sure 1 single person can't achieve 50% of the generating balance.

Since the rewards for staking aren't really big yet due to not much transactions happening it is understandable. Fortunately there is a bounty program for people running nodes now, so that issue is solved.

Even if you use Bitcoin through Tor, the way transactions are handled by the network makes anonymity difficult to achieve. Do not expect your transactions to be anonymous unless you really know what you're doing.

What do you mean by 'Chnages' in transactions list, what should we look for, a transaction turning up that wasn't one you did personally?

It had to do with people that have QORA in their wallets NOT forging...  you need to unlock your wallets folks!   Wink

As far as the changes in the transactions list go...  you want to make sure that the listed transactions are the same as the ones you had when you first recovered plus any newer transactions you've made/received after that.  Mostly expect transactions to disappear if that ever happens...  you will never see transactions that you personally didn't send and/or transactions that people hadn't sent you specifically...  but if someone had an invalid transaction incident due to the longer fork he/she might see those appear.

If anyone sees changes in their transactions list...  they need to make sure to backup the data folder and send it to qora before they recover their wallet.

Thanks for the answers.

Might it be an idea to just increase the transaction fee for the moment? Since ultimately it is the possible reward that will get people to stake. NXT has 1 billion coins and a fee of 1, we have 10 billion and a fee of one. Perhaps a fee of 10 makes more sense.

Or a fee that is somehow connected with the USD market cap. (Both BTC and LTC adepted their fees according to market valuation)

Or an indirect staking subsidy to be paid out from the community fund. Two bots sending transactions back and forth in order to make staking for fees more worthwhile.

Just thinking out a loud here.

(edited for the dreaded 's typo)

If we don't have any major stability issues why aren't we on some more exchanges?

Why are we worrying what Polinex does?

I see low level bitcoin clones come out very day and a week later they are on BTER and Cryptsy. Is Qora reallyl that much of a risk?

Busoni froze Qora because he saw something strange happening in the blockchain with a Sharexcoin deposit. Was probably caused by Zip being too busy scamming people to have time to update to v8. Anyways it was a good decision even though there is most likely nothing wrong. He's just being pro-active. The same kind of pro-activeness that caused him to freeze the scammer's account. Effectively saving a percentage of the stolen funds from disappearing into the scoundrel's pockets

He is waiting for a confirmation from our dev in order to resume trading. Our dev meanwhile is probably sorting through endless DATA folders just to make sure everything is indeed ok. So once qora is done triple checking trading will be resumed.

(or thats what I understood from the last 20 pages)

Hi, When do the Devs contact Poloniex to sort out their issues ?

So they can resume withdrawal ?

I'll prefere to see all of my Qora in my wallet, instead of in the exchange ...

Thanks . .

When the dev first distributed the coins he advised everyone not to trade until he was certain Qora was bug free. Even now he cannot be certain it's bug free. Everyone will probably blame him if he OK's trading and we get another fork incident.

Testing a completely new code base is harder than testing a shit coin whose dev copied bitcoin's source code and just changed the name of the coin. Perhaps we should stop trying to push the dev into OK'ing trading and let him decide when it's ready without pressure from us.

Give another couple of days. There is no issue in the first place I think but it needs to be checked regardless. Situation will be solved soon. Meanwhile Poloniex has a spotless track record when it comes to handling other people's money so I wouldn't worry too much. Of course the only truly safe place is in your wallet Smiley

Yes. Better to check endlessly than to be sorry in the end. So qora take your time by all means. Meanwhile, the reason why the fork occurred in the first place wasn't because of a bug in the code. It was because we didn't have enough people staking. So unlock those wallets Smiley

There is still a bug in the code that causes synchonization problems.
This happens maybe 1 time a week now and it is hard to see what is wrong when I am not experiencing it.
This is why I am asking people who are on a fork to send me their data files.

It is safe to send payments to people you trust.
It is not safe to run an automated exchange 24/7.

Do you want us to send the data files if we have sync problems even when we don't see changes in the transactions list?   Undecided

Yes.
The problem seems to happen to parts of the network at the same time.

Well, I had V8 off for a day and just started it up and this is what I am seeing now.

I will send my data file to qora as well.

Actually, how do I send my dat file to qora? Is there an email I perhaps missed, I don't see an option to attach a file to the PM.

You can simply load archived blockchain file to dropbox or other file cloud storage and post download link here.

Some good ideas for the pot, thanks. It is a little disappointing to find I generate a block only to see the fee is zero (although sometimes you get double digits, which is nice).

However, at the end of the day qora is a PoS coin, in more than just the forging algorithm. For those investors who own more than a few million qora, the value gained/lost through having a stable/unstable network is more significant than the fees generated. So, get staking everyone!
