Well i'll leave this here as a warning to future dreamers (Renters) that's me now 60k down the pan over the last 4 years renting hash to try for a block (would have been better buying 60k of bitcoin in the dips) and I have also always kept S3's and v9's on chain too with no luck once this hash run's out this time I am out of the mining game.
Just threw my last 15 LTC at rentals no luck 6 hr's left then i'm sorry to say but I won't be returning to the mining space.
Would have still been a fair payday with bitcoin being at the +£7k range would have netted a profit of around 30k or so for 4 years work but the god's of the hash are just not with me.
Sad times...
Magic.
Damn - sorry to hear this. My losses are lower but steady as a miner. Running 3 S15's 24/7 and R4's to supplement heat when needed. I justify it as a hobby and investment, but I need bitcoin to do something......

Well invested about 10k into miners that have sat in boxes as they are faulty bitmain refused to admit they are fucked for example here is 1 of them I have running Crazy amount of rejected shares down to there piss poor rip off version of Cgminer so I wasted 10k on those note to anyone never buy V9's I thought they would be a good buy but turn's out there piss poor and were a absolute waste of money every one of them rejects shares at around 48% to 50% which to be tells me there is something wrong. Funny thing is they work on shitmain pool but no other pools I did test on CK Pool CK Solo Kano BTC.COM VIA BTC and a few others the only one that they don't reject shares on is AntPool so I know there's something fishy going on with the miners but after over 100 emails back and forth with bitmain they refuse to accept the miners have a issue. So rental's was the only way forward for me. Had some good times though can't complain just wish the luck could have been with me over the years even 1 block would have broken me into profit but just show's if you ain't got them 0's your just burning capital.

Looks like bad times, be sure i'm with you Also had an about 100k $ minus over the last 6 years with mining, but have to admit that around 5 years of solo mining was kind of stupid (would have been better buying 60k of bitcoin in the dips)
Thought the same very often ... but you know what's more fucked up! I told a good friend in 2016, please just buy 1 Coin better 2. And i helped my (Ex) wife to get some very precious secure private keys with alot of coins on it ... know both hate me because they both was able to get "rich" in there sheme of things...
Just threw my last 15 LTC at rentals no luck 6 hr's left then i'm sorry to say but I won't be returning to the mining space.
Yeah, just pluged in 4 S3 at different frequencies, for the next 3 days ... maybe i'm going to install 1 or 2 SP20 also for the next 3 days .... halving time i'm sorry to say but I won't be returning to the mining space.
What about just running an S3 with low noise fans "forever" ... just for the sake of things However, be sure! You're not the only one that's got fucked by mining, BITMAIN, halvings and own stupidity ... peace

I may keep one S3 running just can't justify running a APW3 PSU anymore. Also starting to come to the realization that if I were to calculate the power that I burned keeping the some miners on the chain and the rentals sometimes up of 200-300 machines at a time it makes me wonder about bitcoin's difficulty going forward and the environmental question behind the wasteful energy use over the period. I mean what did any of the power I rented even archive in the end? It came with no reward and to be honest it's not like it even provided anything of benefit to the network just wasted shares. Good luck guys I hope one of you cracks this block!

Ok guys, lets do our last SOLO round, before the halving. I know that Willi is also doing solo groups, that I also participate in, but still think the more tries the better.
So our last solo rental, before the halving will be for 24 hours. There is no minimum amount of participants, or maximum either. You can gamble any amount of btc, starting from 0.01 to 0.03. If we find a block, we will split the block reward between all the solo gamblers percentage-wise.
There is about 60 hours left until the halving, so we will start in ~ 36 hours. Write down you’re nickname and send me a pm, if you’re in!)

Tell me if I'm right or wrong
We play with nonce (2^32) and use it to hash the block and hope the hash will be < target So it means that for an antminer S9i (14TH/S), it takes 0.00028 seconds (2^32/14TH)
After this we increase an extra nonce from 0 to X. With an Antminer s9, we will reach (extranonce = 14TH/2^32) = 3500 in one second. After this, there is the roll time, we update the ntime to the current time and put it extranonce to 0 and play again.
So I never try some extranonce more than 3500. But anyway, a extranonce < 3500 has the same luck than an extranonce > 3500, am I right ?
Also, in the coin base transaction, there is my BTC address, so it means that the block I tried to solve is unique ? So it means, I can be lucky and solve the block with nonce to 0, extranonce to 0 and no change about ntime?
My conclusion about this is : It is really purely and simply luck to solve a block. Event with 1000PH or 1 bird neuron, you can win...
Arffff, I spent hours to modify my cgminer by creating some random behavior (changing extra nonce offset, modify the ntime in the future).
The fact is, more you have power, more you can have chance to win.

Yes, it doesn't matter whether you roll forwards, backwards, randomly, some pattern, or what. Every single hash has an equal chance of finding a block no matter what it's comprised of = 1 / 2^32 / current difficulty. All that matters, therefore, is how many unique hashes you throw at it. Cgminer already takes care that you never repeat hashes, and the pool takes care that different miners never repeat hashes.
