Unfortunately I think the reasons charities dislike Bitcoin donation is that they think it's illegal/scammy and they don't want association with it.

The Red Cross is a fucking scam to begin with. They don't like Bitcoin because it is all PUBLIC INFORMATION!

That being the case, Rassah, would you be so kind as to take what's needed from my excess donated coins to Bitcoin 100 and bring that up to exactly 100 BTC? Let me know if that's possible or if I'm missing something as to why it can't/shouldn't be done.

I started the project "Send to charity" a few weeks ago which lets people donate shares to a glbse account which means ongoing dividends can be paid each week. The bitcoin100 is one of the addresses we pay out to.

Today I wrote them a general inquiry about how the non-fees work and only briefly mentioned bitcoin as the only service to my knowledge that would allow to operate without fees. His very quick reply did not mention bitcoin but asked for ways to further reduce fees. I sent another mail with more bitcoin introduction and also sent him a bitcoin via a charged instawallet address asking to either send it back to me or on to a wallet out of my reach.

And no, no one ran off with the money. Unlike other so-called "businesses" or what have you, Bitcoin100 money has a publicly viewable transaction log in Google Docs spreadsheet that let's anyone verify that everything is where it belongs (http://goo.gl/Mk3hp), and the private keys are kept by at least two people, myself being one of them. We still have all the money safe and sound.

On the other hand, it seems we really dropped the ball on the whole asking and bugging charities. I think Phinneas is still in charge, right? If you want this to continue, we'll need to get back to work. If not, we do have a list of whom most of the money came from, and thus can give it back.

Oh come on! 1000 posts written and read 400 times for in the end returning it? How about watsi.org? Nobody commented on that one. The guys are interested in bitcoin already and it's a good project I guess. Very transparent and really non (aka zero) profit for those involved unless they get donations for them personally.

It's just a credit card issue. The first time this happened, I didn't have the payment process set on automatic, with the previous times always being able to pay Host Gator on time. The second time, the card expired, so I used a different credit card. Now I'm back to square one, setting the payment on automatic with the current Visa card that's not set to expire for about 17 months. I'm going to do the update now and it should be up and running shortly.

Currently, we are on the brink of attaining our 501c3, or non-profit legal status, as well as launching the Pilot version of the website. Over the next few months, we will be working out the bugs in both the pilot platform and the business model while simultaneously preparing a fully scalable version of the website that will allow donors to quickly fund a very large number of medical treatments around the world.

Watsi is an online peer-to-peer crowdfunding platform that allows users to fund life-changing medical treatments for underserved people in developing countries. I represent a charity fundraising organization called Bitcoin100. We are a group of 100+ volunteers who are fans of the Bitcoin payment system, and believe that everyone can benefit from its adoption.
