2 goals are very difficult for them to equalize or even reverse. But they are not completely over because there are still 45 minutes to the second.
But I didn't enjoy the games they played in pre-season. Really a difference I feel here. Apart from that, Brighton have a very impenetrable defense and their attacks are effective.

I could see United possibly getting the equalizer if they could get they're act together.  But yeah, it looks like we're all seeing the same problems as before.  Gaps in their formation when they don't have the ball, players seem all over the place, no communication between players.  They suck.

What Ten Hag do now is let the 'unwanted one' on the pitch...  Get Ronaldo in to make two goals.

I must admit I am not in this thread often. I am usually in all the pool threads. Has it gotten that bad? I will put an effort and read this thread trough next week and check it for myself.

There is already self moderated thread from jollygood so I am leaning more to closing this thread and let him fight with spammers, then opening another one by myself.

I think Ten Hag should immediately field Christian Ronaldo on the edge to make a difference in the game. It's certainly not too late for Manchester United to improve their game in the first half.

a very bad tactic in my opinion from Ten Hag in the first half, conceding 2 goals will make it even more difficult for them. It's really beyond the expectations of many that Manchester United don't play with strikers, who only rely on Eriksen to dismantle
opponent's defense, really it's very ineffective.

I read your comments but I don't see any Manchester United among the rivals you mentioned. I predict Manchester United will also be the top challengers in the Premier League this season with their new manager Erik ten Hag as well as their new players. United have played 6 pre-season matches with 3 wins, 2 draws, 1 loss, scoring 14 goals.

Indeed, pre-season results can not be a benchmark. However, if you look at the way he plays, Ten Hag United's concoction is quite promising. United played impressive football with Ten Hag's brilliant ideas.

Dunno if you are witnessing the Manchester United 1 - 2 Brighton match or not... 10 minutes left and I am afraid that ManU will start that season with a defeat. CR7 joined the game in the second half although Martial didn't participate from the beginning due to the injury. If this can show something is how preseason matches could be misleading.
In the other game, Leicester is leading with the same score vs Brentford.

If Manchester United can not get a draw In this game then am not just going to be disappointed with the coach but it will be a bad result to the players who are yet to master their playing tactics in all their outings in the pre-season games. They have been in control of the game since the beginning of the second half but they have failed to put the ball at the back of the net, I still don't think Ronaldo can make any meaningful difference in this game because I don't think he is in good form.

United could have done better but I can see them having the ball possession but not making much use of it. They need to make their attack strong again if they want to do better PL finish than last time. I am sure lot of questions will be asked from ten Haag about Ronaldo not starting but he is doing great job out there. I feel its just that he needs a bit of time to fix the squad.

They are bad as a team with a great name in the history.
Looking at their preseason matches, they are not really improving from the last season.
Defense is still a big problem for United and I do not understand why Ten Haag is still using Maguire
(even as a captain).
In overall performance, I can see that there is still no good strategy and teamwork in the team.

For years, Man Utd hasn't had such, instead they kept leaving this role to Pogba who isn't a CDM and doesn't thrive as one and sub par players like Fred and McTominay. I don't see any reason why Eriksen will be playing upfront he's a midfielder for goodness sake, he's playing out of position today, also if maguire is not bench, Man Utd will have a long way to go this season, dude has not been on a fine run, always commiting, he ought to have gotten red card today he was just lucky

Was a disappointing game for Ten Hag and Manchester United, it was as if am watching Manchester United game of last season, there was no improvement at all, especially the mentality of the players, now I guess ten Bag now know the job he has at hand, he needs to work on the players concentration and focus and for him to be successful in it, he needs time, and thank God the transfer window is still open he still needs to strengthen,his attack power is very low, Marcus Rashford has lost his desire and I don't see him becoming the player we hope he could become.another ten hag needs to know that Maguaire is a problem.

The way Manchester United are playing it has no difference of last season,  their is no change. Maybe this is what Ronaldo is avoiding, to come and experience the same pattern of performance. The number of goals Brighton has score I am not sure it will be for Manchester United to meet up to equalize the game.

At first I expected Erik ten Hag to play 4-2-3-1 to trouble the Brighton defence, but unfortunately they play with three strikers and three midfielders, making it easier for Brighton to read Man United's strategy. In fact, if look at the pre-season tour some time ago, they were quite aggressive with a 4-2-3-1.

The results were quite disappointing from Manchester United, after being held to a draw by Rayo Vallecano at home, they suffered another defeat after previously having to admit defeat to Atletico Madrid.

Erik came with a wrong strategy. Most times I think how these coaches get it wrong every time. Why play false 9 hope that Bruno will do the run ins and score. I am fed up. A simple 4-3-3 formation would have won this match totally. Having Sancho by the top left, Ronaldo at the top center and Rashford at the top right. In the middle will be sitting Fred with Bruno and Eriksen at both sides of the midfield. Even playing Sancho from the right throughout the match without switch with Rashford in most times is dump. Sancho in 11 where Rashford played would have done one or two cut-ins and get a goal from R2.

It's a bad day for Man United, they started the Premier League at home, but they can't get any points and Man United seems struggling to find a rhythm in the game. In the first half, their performance didn't look good and their defense looks fragile because of this they had to concede 2 goals. In the second half, their performance slightly improved but their formation still looks messed up as if they were playing without a strategy. While Brighton is playing pretty well, they always stick tight to the Man United players and it really interferes with the attacking efforts made by the Man United players.

They need more than a defensive midfielder. Lisandro Martinez was a great addition but they need one more stopper so they can bench Maguire. They need a better right back than Dalot. Eriksen is not ready yet and I dont know if he will be ready at all after the incidents he had. Manchester United need to score goals and Eriksen don't fulfill this need. If you can't score you can't win games. Ronaldo's situation is still uncertain and he's clearly not happy there. So it's hard to expect performance from him. Realistically speaking, we shouldn't expect any success from Manchester United this season.

Liverpool was a suprise yesterday, but that ManU lost today is really unbelievable. Do they want to help Manchester City win the title right at the start of the season?  ManU in particular annoys me a lot, they played at home and simply don't learn anything from their mistakes in recent years. City will definitely get the win today and after the first week they already have a lead.

Brighton played pretty neatly at the back. they don't have much possession of the ball but the attack they build is very good.
Man United looks in a hurry to make a goal. yes, they did need to equalize soon but their possession and attacking arrangement was always broken by the Brighton defense. in the first half Man United didn't make many shots, they had to find a solution for this soon.

Brighton were absolutely solid in the first half they played brilliantly well even without Bissouma, Cucurella and Eriksen with Welbeck threatening Man Utd defence and got a well deserve win for the first time in old trafford, unfortunately it's the same old Man Utd no noticeable changes in the team, they have a long way to go with Maguire at the defense and the pair of Mctominay and Fred who are awfully poor in their midfield and the whole squad not hungry to win the match as well as not playing like a team, the introduction of Ronaldo changes the game this shows how important is Ronaldo to the team, they should try and keep him else the club will ensure another disappointing season.

I'm really disappointed with Manchester United's performance today. I was feeling confident about a good start for them but it was a terrible one instead. Being unable to defeat Brighton in Old Trafford is a sign for really troubling things in the future. But I'm still trying not be prejudiced too much as it was Erik ten Hag's first ever league match. He deserves many chances now as they gave to Solskjaer as well. If nothing changes at the end of the season then they must just figure a way out to bring back their good old times.
