Liverpool have done well to get Konate for £36 million but they needed at least two more additions to be serious contenders and to close the gap with Manchester City. Liverpool look vulnerable in defence so Klopp went looking for a defender and Konate seems like he has potential to strengthen Liverpool. That will not be enough to win the title though because both Manchester Clubs and Chelsea have stronger squads.

Even Leicester City have a strong chance of finishing above Liverpool because they nearly did it last season and because Rodgers went out and did excellent business by buying Soumare and Daka, then got Bertrand for free from Southampton. Liverpool have to buy in the winter transfer window otherwise they could be out of the top 4 at the end of the season.

I cannot see Grealish moving to Manchester City. With Sterling on the left wing and Mahrez on the right wing how can Grealish play regularly for them when De Bruyne, Fernandinho, Silva, Rodri, Zinchenko and Gundogan all occupy the midfield? Grealish already warmed the bench for most of the Euro 2020 tournament playing a bit-part so he will not want to move to a club that does not guarantee him game time. At Villa he is adored by the club and the fans and plays every game as long as he is not injured. If he really wanted to leave he should consider other options.

I might have to change my predictions, at the moment it doesn't seem like Liverpool are in for any players, of course there's plenty of time for that to change, but at the moment its quite quiet on their front. A lot of their rivals have already got the players they have been linked with, and wanted. Its important in my opinion that you get players as early as possible, because then they settle in quicker, and can have a preseason with the team they'll be expected to play in.

Grealish comes across as a person who would rather be winning silverware, than be loyal to the club he supports, and of course there's nothing really wrong with that. They are professionals at the end of the day. Its easy for me to sit here, and say I would stay with my favourite club, but I imagine a lot of these players want to create a legacy filled with trophies rather than loyalty.

Liverpool absolutely need a prolific striker if they are to compete, and that was my assumption when I made that prediction; that they would be in the market for a striker capable of netting around 15-20 goals a season. Firminho while excellent at the job hes been implemented to do, isn't a out, and out striker. Although, he is definitely capable of netting those 15-20 goals a season, last season, and the season before he struggled somewhat on that front.

I think Liverpool are defensively sound now. They have plenty of options, and they only had issues last season due to the amount of long term injuries specifically in the defense department, that's unlikely to happen again, even without the addition of Konate.

Leicester I see competing for Europa league, and I imagine their aims will be at least a top 6 finish. They have the players, albeit they are aging a little bit now, and that might play a factor when the games schedule gets a little congested in the winter months.

Grealish; I think I can see him in a Manchester City shirt, I always thought if he were to move it would be to Manchester United though, as I feel he suits them better. I think Grealish could be considered more valuable than Mahrez. Since, there's the homegrown factor that you have to consider, and Grealish might actually become the better player if hes surrounded by better players, its hard to tell.

The only natural number 9 / forward that Liverpool have had in years is Origi. Firmino was originally an attacking milfielder before Klopp turned him to a forward. He did better in earlier seasons but haven't flourished in that position in recent times. It has been evident in the last two seasons - wingers (Mane and Salah) have been the ones competing for Premier league golden boot for both 2019/2020 and 2020/2021 seasons. I have thought that Klopp would be in the market to buy a forward but so far, it hasn't been the case. Defense was a major issue for Liverpool last season due to those injuries (of vital players) that you mentioned but Liverpool's frontline didn't  suffer much injuries over the course of the season but produced few goals.

The addition of Jota a couple of months back was good but Liverpool still lacks a natural finisher.

Voted for Liverpool in the pool. I'm a fan so my choice is biased.  Wink

If Grealish does move to Manchester City, he will have a great chance to compete for titles not only in England, but also for the Champions League. Aston Villa can certainly snag some title in England, but certainly not the Champions League. Another question is that Grealish is the undisputed leader and unquestionable authority at Aston Villa, but at Manchester City with its star and strong players, Grealish will be just one of many and it may take him some time to adapt to the game of the new team and the requirements of Josep Guardiola. But one thing is certain, that Manchester City is very interested in buying the player and raised the proposed amount from 75 million pounds to 100 million according to the demand of Aston Villa. If a player has outgrown the level of his team, he should try himself at a new level no matter what, so as not to regret the missed opportunities later.

It is very obvious Manchester city are interested in signing Grealish from Aston Villa,he has emerged as a hot prospect in Europe and one of the best player in premier league as a whole, but I think Villa will not want to sell their best player, except Grealish forces through a move to Mancity.

BREAKING NEWS !!

Manchester City offer £100 million to buy Grealish

Leaked reports in Sky Sports say that Aston Villa have accepted an offer of £100 million (USD $139 million) from Manchester City for Jack Grealish. They will make an official announcement soon but it is up to Grealish if he wants to stay at Villa or not. If the deal goes ahead Grealish will be the most expensive purchase by an English football club. The previous record was the £93 million Manchester United paid Juventus for Pogba.

If he decides to go to Manchester City he will have to compete with Sterling, Mahrez, De Bruyne, Fernandinho, Silva, Rodri, Zinchenko and Gundogan for a midfield position.

I think it will be a big mistake if he goes to a club like Manchester City where he will be up against too many of the squad for a midfield position because he will spend too much time on the bench being used as a substitute. He will become rich beyond his wildest dreams but will he be happy with the game-time?

Wow, this is indeed a huge offer! Shocked
Still, IMHO this price is way far more than Grealish value. Yes, he did a great season with Villa, he is a good player but he is "overestimated" without making something huge. I mean he didn't get the EPL title with his performance! That price will definitely change the economical map...
As far as who he will compete to earn a place in the 1st line-up of Man City, I'm sure that by giving $140 million, they count on him to be in the 1st eleven. Besides, the new season will be tougher, stronger, and longer for big clubs.

P.S: I'm also certain that the club will sell someone from the above players that you mention...

No not sure but moving to Manchester City would be a game up in his career and I don't see him spending much time on the bench as there is no current Manchester City midfielder who plays that No:10 role more than Jack Grealish currently, Jack can also play on the wings, Pep wanted him so badly so I believe he has a big plan for him for spending that much on him.

Talks started two days ago and here we are £100m placed now we wait for Aston Villa response. Will they accept? Or will Jack sign the new contract extension with Villa next week? ... Drama on!!!

Aston Villa have accepted the bid, they are happy to sell Jack Grealish for £100 million. It is up to the player now if he wants to start negotiations for a contract with Manchester City or not. I wonder which signings Chelsea, Leicester City, Manchester United and Liverpool might make before the new season starts.

What source confirmed this? Because from my sources the deal is still ongoing and Jack Grealish is willing to move but the only option remains with Aston Villa to accept or not since they offered Jack a contract extension last week and are willing to keep him for another season. Jack is not in a hurry to make a move he respects Aston Villa and if they turned down the offer from Manchester City he won't have a problem playing for the Villa for another season.

Quote
I wonder which signings Chelsea, Leicester City, Manchester United and Liverpool might make before the new season starts

Manchester United and Leicester City may likely send some players out on loan or permanently to stay within FFP rules, meanwhile, Chelsea is still pushing to get Julies Kounde from Sevilla with or without Zouma being involved, I don't have any update on Liverpool but VVD is back.

Just like Manchester United, I have confidence that they will win this season, the adaptation problem I don't think will be long for Jadon Sancho and Raphael Varane. We will see later Cool
We are used to seeing Manchester United being a potential league champion every season after adding 1 or 2 players to the squad and end up winning nothing  Grin the arrival or Sancho ( which I know won't adapt quickly to EPL) and Varane who is precisely not a very good defender, has been living under the shadow of Ramos for so long and having two defenders (Maguire and Varane)
who are only good on the air won't be a good match.

I'm only concern about Leicester City they made some good transfers while still holding their old squad, they are turning up to permanently kick Tottenham and Arsenal chances of European competition spot to the mud.

Manchester City and Chelsea are confident of the team they have so far, they are not overhauling they are just trying to strengthen up some positions. Manchester City are likely going to add either Kane or Jack Grealish to the squad before the deadline while Chelsea are still on Halaand radar as Likakau seems impossible this season to get.

Really?  Chelsea hasn’t given up on Haaland yet?  Lawl.  That’s funny cos they prolly should if they’re not willing to splash the cash.

And City...  Daniel Levy is never releasing Kane unless City pays a premium.

Manchester United
Manchester City
Chelsea
Arsenal
Leicester
Liverpool

My predictions are based on new signings performing to their ability and current squads. Manchester City and Manchester United have the best team in the league and they should be very close at the end of the season I think Chelsea are good without any major signings Arsenal have secured ben white which is an improvement over their other defenders and Leicester have a good squad but I think will have more determination than Liverpool that is why I put Liverpool in 6th place as they lack a good striker and their midfield has been weakened.

~snip~
But they are UCL champions. Chelsea have unlimited funds it seems, some reports say Halaand has been offered 175 million Euros. Besides that they have Lewandowski's target if they can't get Haaland. That's a lot of money, it looks like they want a centre-forward to support their main striker. At least Tuchel's arrival has changed them. Then if one of them comes, Chelsea will be stronger. They can win the title.

Even if they can't get the EPL trophy, I'm sure they will be in the top 3 Grin

Top 2 I cannot see them failing that bad with the players they have. Their entire team has world class players in all positions De Gea, Varane, Shaw, Fernandez, Sancho, Rashford and Cavani. That is 7 out of 11 that I would say are world class players which would fit in any other team in the premier league.

BREAKING NEWS !!

Aston Villa have reached agreement with Bayer for the transfer of Leon Bailey for £30m

Remember the wonderkid who was valued at about €100m a few years ago? He is joining Aston Villa on a 5 years deal, medical scheduled next week after they finally strike a deal with Bayer Leverkusen in a deal worth £30m with ads on. He has been battling with injuries all his career and finally found his foot last season. Looks like Aston Villa is preparing to live a life without Jack Grealish, Leon is a talented and very fast winger and could as well cover ground for Jack if he makes a move. Good buy?

Really?  Chelsea hasn’t given up on Haaland yet?  Lawl.  That’s funny cos they prolly should if they’re not willing to splash the cash.

Aston Villa have accepted the bid, they are happy to sell Jack Grealish for £100 million.

I also read that aston villa got the deal to sign Leon Bailey from Bayer Leverkusen

Source: Aston Villa reach agreement to sign Leon Bailey from Bayer Leverkusen

last season aston villa was having a good performance but fell in the last games, i hope that this season they manage to hit the signings and have a good season.

Premier league starts off with some nice fixtures

  • Fulham v Arsenal
  • Crystal Palace v Southampton
  • Liverpool v Leeds
Can Arsenal start off the season with a new strategy and re-energized team, this match looks easy on paper but Fulham looked impressive in the previous season and a team full of energy this will be a good test for the gunners.

Southampton had a terrible season in the last one out wonder how they survived not to be relegated but this opener am backing Palance to win.

If the news is true, of course this is quite good news for big clubs who really want to sign Jack Grealish and it looks like Manchester City is a club that has a great opportunity to get Jack Grealish from Aston Villa, in my opinion with the financial strength that manchester city has of course the price is not too much of a problem for them and even Manchester City are rumored to have made an offer of £ 100 million for the aston villa midfielder, if the transfer actually materializes, of course jack grrealish will be one of the players with a fairly expensive purchase fee and broke the record as the most expensive player in world,  beat the record held by the previous Paul Pogba for £89 million when Manchester United bought him from Juventus.

A tempting offer of course for the player and his old team, I think the offer will be difficult to refuse by Aston Villa and also the player. I don't think Manchester City should spend that much money on a midfielder, they should be able to save a little money on expensive players because the financial situation can be unstable during a pandemic. Although it looks like Manchester City are capable, but FFP will be watching their movements in signing players like this.
