Same people who said Messi was too old to be the best player, also were the players who praised Di Maria for playing that well. I agree that on the final game Di Maria played a perfect game, amazing penalty thanks to him, amazing goal, it's all him, he played amazing.

But, Messi played as well as anyone else and he did helped the team on so many occasions. Dude may or may not be the best when the next one comes, but he won't be bad enough to just leave from the rtoster, he will still be in the starting eleven without a doubt, who could be better than a 37-38 year old Messi? I was always curious, if football is so much popular in Brazil, Brazil "produce" probably worlds best players, when asking random people who are the best football players - people say that these are Brazilians, then why dont they (Brazilians) receive Golden ball award so rarely? Yes this is a European award mostly, but we see Brazilians in European teams, but only 3 Brazilians got that ball in last 23 years. In last 23 years, Brazil only once won Fifa World Cup.

Yes, people are saying this based on past records of Brazil. I could remember when I was in secondary school, Brazil was very tough and has great players. They played fantastic football and people recognise them for that.

Brazil has won the world cup five times more than any country with the help of Pele. They are also the only countries that have appear in all world cup competition. This is the reason why people respects Brazil. They also have professional players in all the leagues. Maybe this is not the time for Brazilian to shine

By the time of the next world cup, he will be 38-39 years old and he has seen what happened to Cristiano Ronaldo during Qatar 2022.
