But I didn't think that we would win the match against the top team New Zealand. Two top teams are standing at the top of the World Cup 2023 points table. The First Team on the points table is India with 6 points as they won their 3 matches and the 2nd position was secured by New Zealand they also won their 3 in 3 matches which is a great success for them. As New Zealand's batting side is marvelous these days and their bowling has some good quality bowlers like Trent Boult.

I would say it was an accident. No one expected the Netherlands to win. South Africa's erratic bowling was one of the reasons for their defeat. I was very disappointed with South Africa's bowling. After losing 4 wickets for 50 runs, Netherlands set a huge target of 246 in 43 overs. South Africa gave 32 extra runs in this match. They have scored 21 wide balls. 32 runs extra in 43 overs is too much. Even if the target was around 200, maybe South Africa would have won.

Afghanistan players are now very confident after the win against England. There is no doubt that New Zealand is a strong team. But since the pitch is spin friendly I would say Afghanistan team cannot be considered weak in this match. They have several excellent spin bowlers. There will be no surprise if New Zealand loses.

Yesterday's win by Netherlands was more like a slap for the ICC. They reduced the number of participants to 10, to weed out associate teams from the main tournament. Netherlands still managed to qualify despite this, by defeating three test nations during the qualifier tournament (Scotland also deserved a chance to be here). It was a team effort from them. Each and every member contributed to the win. There were crucial contributions from lower order batsmen such as Roelof van der Merwe and Aryan Dutt, while their bowlers chipped in with crucial wickets at the right time.

The South African pacers (Lungi Ngidi, Kagiso Rabada and Gerald Coetzee) were leaking too many runs during the depth overs and the South African captain erred by not giving Marco Jansen the maximum number of overs available. And while batting South Africa could not capitalize on the good start they got.

In both the instances, the team batting first won. Netherlands defended a miniscule total of 245 (albeit from 43 overs), while Afghanistan was able to defend a total of 284. But that doesn't mean that teams batting first had any sort of advantage so far in the world cup. Out of the 15 matches completed so far, 8 were won by the team batting second while 7 were won by the team batting first. So there is no big divide here. Anyway, the match is going to take place at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chepauk, so naturally there will be an advantage for Afghanistan.

I believe Temba Bavuma might be a problem of this great team. He seems to struggle with both captaincy and batting. In yesterday match against Netherlands on a good batting pitch, he made decisions to bowl first. However, their bowlers were not organized. Yes it depends on toss .If Afghanistan won the toss and set a score of 270+ ,then it will be very difficult for New Zealand to chase this match.Afghanistan Spinners are very dangerous ,they can bend the match into their sides , especially Rashid Khan which performance is outstanding in all format , he made strong when he came in the International team of Afghanistan.Mujeeb ur Rehman is also excellent bowler and Muhammad Nabi can also perform well. And lf  Rashid Khan and Mujeeb ur Rehman took wickets in middle overs and New Zealand could not on wicket , Afghanistan will win this match.Hashmatullah is good batter , he can change the side of the match .

Even during the match against England, it was individual performance from two batsmen (Rahmanullah Gurbaz and Ikram Alikhil) that enabled them to post a good total. Hashmatullah Shahidi made 80 against India, but he didn't contributed in the other two matches. Azmatullah Omarzai also made 62 against India, but got out cheaply in other matches. Others like Rahmat Shah Zurmatai, Ibrahim Zadran and Mohammad Nabi are yet to contribute positively with the bat.
