Serie A teams got a big blowout in this version of UEFA Champions League. Milan got a draw and was excluded in front of Feyenoord and it is the turn of Atalanta to get a huge defeat against Club Brugge. It is right now 2 - 5 on aggregate. It is very disappointing seeing what's going on with theses Italian teams.

Atalanta broke my heart. Not that I'm a fan or I place a bet on them. I just wanted them to win because of my homeboy Lookman but they messed up big time.

So I went back to check the champions league standings. Atalanta and AC Milan both finished 9th and 13th position respectively on the table and they were knocked out by Club Brugge (24th), the last on the playoff spot and Feyenoord (19th). This year's champions league is really interesting and we are seeing many surprises.

This season’s Champions League competition grows more interesting as it heads on towards the finals and I must say that I am loving this new method of the group stage, it is even more interesting than the previous method and I will love it to continue. It is unfortunate that both Atalanta and Milan couldn’t make it to the rounds of 16, though I expected better from Milan but they disappointed me but it is what the competition is all about, surprises and disappointments.

After the draw results my predictions for which teams to advance:



PSG put on a great show against Brest. But will they maintain the same effort against Liverpool? I doubt it.    Liverpool would eliminate them IMHO.

We are going to watch 2 more Madrid derbies.    I like the work Simeone does but I don't think they can eliminate Real Madrid. But we might see really close scores in both legs.

Another draw I would like to comment on is Bayern Munich v Leverkusen. Probably most people will believe in Bayern Munich but I don't. I didn't like what I watched against Celtic. There is still no progress. Leverkusen look much better in the Champions League now.

I won't be wrong to say the path is now free for Barcelona to go to the finals with little or no much resistance. It's as if they selected the tougher teams and kept on the left and handpicked the others to the right.
I don't like the pairing of two Spanish and Bundesliga teams in this stage. The champions league needs more and more competition to be exciting, why pair all the teams that will bring this Champions League aura in this stage of the competition, I always thought the sweetest part of the meal should be saved for the later stages of the competition.

I don't know why many here were confident in Juventus... Juve spent a lot of energy in the previous game against Inter, maybe that's why they couldn't beat Einhoven... But on the other hand - PSV play great at home... Now it's hard for me to say when they last lost a home game in the UCL... Especially they were able to beat, though not motivated, but still strong Liverpool... In general, the statistics of clubs can often give tips... PSV is definitely not a weak club and I would say that they are not worse than Juve...  What is surprising is that all Italian clubs are out of the UCL thanks to Belgium and the Netherlands... The only one left is Inter, who were lucky to get to 1/8...

Juventus still with their good performance when defeating Inter Milan, making most people think Juventus is starting to improve and the victory certainly made the players more confident in the UCL but fate said otherwise Juventus actually experienced a fairly painful defeat even though I thought Juventus could at least hold PSV to a draw as they have done lately often getting draws but in this match Juventus' defense looked careless which made it easy for PSV to break through Juventus' goal.

I am not surprised by Juventus' defeat because since the beginning of the season their problem is inconsistent performance consistency and it is happening again now so if we look at it as a whole it has happened repeatedly especially now it is happening in UCL of course it is not surprising.
Apart from PSV's strength is also not that good but in football sometimes it takes a moment to be able to give the best and PSV has a good mentality to create that in the Champions League play-off round.

It will going to be a tough games this time around with all the teams because all those teams will do what they have not done before to make sure they are part of those teams that will win their games. you see Barcelona, Inter Milan,  Liverpool and PSG are in high spirit to make sure they win this game, but the games will not going to be easy for all the teams to win easily. Liverpool will be facing PSG for you to know that the game will be tough because the both teams are very good in this UEFA champion league tournament, and there is no how the game will end up in a draw 0:0.

With the current performance of Liverpool in the premier league game, I guess PSG will going to knockout Liverpool from this game with 1:2 , and if you watch PSG game very well in this UEFA champion league game, you will agree with me that PSG will beat Liverpool to move to the next Level.

Today, the Champions League will feature four exciting return matches:

I believe the most intriguing matches will involve AC Milan and Bayern Munich, as these teams are among the top contenders for the Champions League trophy.

Sadly it was AC Milan who failed to live up to expectations and dropping out of the tournament after failing to win their second leg tie with Feyenoord and ended in a draw. Bayern Munich were able to get a draw against Celtic in the second leg which was enough to secure their tickets to the Champions League’s round of 16.

As we all know Liverpool ended group phase with fantastic performance it because they can finish at the first place with only lost once from 8 matches but their consistency will be tested at the knockout phase whether Liverpool can advances to the quarterfinal or not and for PSG their journey on group phase is not quite well because PSG have to play through an playoff stages before reach to round of 16 but at the playoff stages PSG qualified with fantastic aggregate 10-0 over Brest

Bayern Munich vs Leverkusen

Unfortunately the Bundesliga teams have to met early on round of 16 but this season both teams is the rival and currently they have compete for Bundesliga title besides that whether it Bayern Munich or Leverkusen currently handled by young talented manager because Bayern Munich manager is Kompany and Leverkusen has Alonso and i think this match will be difficult to predicted because from the latest met they were playing draw at the Bundesliga match

PSV has indeed proven its ability in the Champions League play-off round this season, but in the last 16 it seems that PSV will get more pressure from the next opponent because they have to meet Arsenal which in terms of consistency is somewhat better than Juventus this season. So PSV also cannot be sure that they will be able to make another surprise in the last 16 of the Champions League this season. Although I also salute what PSV has been able to do in the previous play-off round in the Champions League this season.

Normally from the start of this season, the Champions League competition has been interesting because of the new method, and it has been favourable to lower clubs than the strong teams that have been taking over the top spot for a long time.

Some teams that we did not even expect to be this good in the Champions League competition this season are the ones at the top of the league currently and are even beating the big clubs in the competition.

I like it because Real Madrid won not because of Mbappe's style that seemed like a hero, but yes, a hattrick in the match against Manchester City is certainly a source of pride for every player who plays, it is his best record so far in the champions league with Real Madrid.

I admit that the hattrick that Mbappe got like his own efforts but all of that was also the contribution of other players. If we compare the skill between Mbappe and Vinicius, Vinic is actually much better in terms of skill. But in yesterday's match Mbappe looked smarter looking for an empty place to score. But all of that is not important and the most important thing is Madrid is able to qualify to pursue the title like last season.

I also don't understand why Guardiola did that or maybe it was on purpose or maybe he was not confident with Haaland, many fans are waiting for Guardiola to include Haaland and also KDB.

After thinking deeper, I have an assumption that Guardiola did not use Haaland and KDB in the match because most likely the Man City coach already had a feeling that he would still fail. So Guardiola did not use his two mainstay players to maintain physical condition and not waste too much energy. So after this City can focus more on the EPL and rely on Haaland as a player who will help the team win the EPL title at the end of the season.

Yes and yes we just need to support them to achieve a better position in the champions league at this time, Mbappe is indeed quite impressive, I don't want to compare him with Vini because they are different, they have different potential but are also good.

I highly doubt that thought is true, seeing Guardiola's optimism who is always the vanguard of confidence for Man City, it is impossible for him to have such doubts about the match against Real Madrid, although I also remember that in the previous season he said that they would not win as long as Real Madrid was there, but they still did it with full strength even though they ended up losing.

Yea there were football fans who thought Manchester city could go to Madrid ground and do the unthinkable but they forgot to take into consideration the present form of city in contrast to the city of season's ago.  Real Madrid are in one of their best form than city could relate, not even the 4:0 win that city had against Newcastle united in the weekend was able to convince me that they could defeat Madrid and make it to the round 16 of the UCL.  Ancelotti is weigh above Gardiola in tactical approach and as such knew very well the very weak point of city and took advantage of it in the both legs, that's just what happened.

That is right many Manchester City fans thought their team could beat Real Madrid but they forgot that City is not playing as well as they used to. Real Madrid on the other hand has been playing very well and their experience and smart tactics helped them to win. Carlo Ancelotti is very good at tactics and he used this skill to find and take advantage of City weaknesses in both games. Pep Guardiola tactics are creative but Ancelotti more practical approach was better in the end.

This is because their favorites expected Manchester City to play well and strong and win the match. Manchester City have also played well but they somehow failed to score 1 goal, if they would have scored the match could have been a draw, which would have made Manchester City proud and also managed to defeat a strong team. If Manchester City played with their old performance, we could have seen a lot of interest in this match, but alas, Real Madrid took full advantage and won the match.  This proves that they took full advantage of Manchester City's weakness and won the match. If Manchester City had won this match, there would have been a lot of joy and surprise in the league because at the moment Manchester City's record is neither that strong nor that weak.

Just wow at the games, a huge difference between Barcelona facing Benfica and Real Madrid playing against Atletico Madrid or PSG facing Liverpool.
Such combinations are disastrous for some and make the matches more interesting for us, followers
Liverpool, Barcelona, Bayern Munich, Arsenal, Borussia Dortmund, Inter Milan, Aston Villa are the ones favourite to win in my opinion. Liverpool, Madrid and Bayern Munich games are the most hazardous ones and hard to guess for me.

It's funny to see how Gasperini has labelled his player, Lookman as the worst penalty takers he's ever seen. I know he's not lying in this case, but he made his boy lost respect to him.

I never expected Gasperini to discredit his player, and it seems he's feeling upset with the failed pen by Lookman against Brugge. I also see Lookman also fireback his coach as well. I take my poopcorn to see a drama between Gasperini and Lookman.

 

A wise coach shouldn't talk like that because to execute a penalty, a player must strengthen his mind, and have to be calm in order to succeed. Lookman doesn't want to be executor but Retegui giving him that opportunity. Maybe at that situation, Lookman was nervous and had a lot of pressure to turning things around so his shot can be tipped over. I certainly don't blame him, because if every failed penalty we must be commented on, there will be a lot of bad comments we can ear everyday because of failed the penalty. Gasperini should provide the support to strengthen mentally so that it does not happen again, instead giving bad comments which can make degrade his mentally.

I actually had high regard for Gasperini but after the comment, I was really disappointed and even of he was right in the very first, speaking of it like that is really bad and disrespectful, like this is your best player, he got you the Europa League last season, since his recent injury they have dropped points for their domestic title race.

I guessed Gasperini was really disappointed and ashamed they lost in such manner they lost and got eliminated from the Champions League because to be honest Club Brugge is not bigger than Atalanta and the trashing home and away make it more shameful.

Man City must try for a Champions League ticket next season to repay Madrid. Of course, if they have fixed everything, it will be better.

The last 16 will provide tension from several big team meetings. Madrid will face Atletico, Munich will face Leverkusen, and PSG will face Liverpool.

The first half of the PSV Juventus match was boring in terms of football, but Psv played very well in the second half. After getting the score with Perisic, they made another effective attack, but Juventus made the score 1-1 with Weah's long shot.
Two players from PSV caught my attention. Despite their age, Perisic and De Jong played very well.
Especially in Psv's second goal, it was really great that Perisic made a cross without hitting his opponent.
This man is 36 years old and has played at a high level in an arena such as the Champions League.
The match went to extra time. I hope the player who plays good football wins.

Perisic and De Jong played crucial roles in their second leg victory of Juventus in the Champions League playoffs. Perisic recorded 8 points player rating in the game while De Jong recorded 7.5, both players have being pivotal to the team’s success in recent seasons despite their age and it is just outstanding watching them play and carrying the team through tough games each season, I commend them for their efforts.

Some of my prediction are happening. I'm happy to see Liverpool to face PSG, and Barcelona is facing Benfica. This pretty obvious Barcelona is gonna face PSG or Liverpool.

It also surprises me how Real Madrid and Bayern Munich face their main rivals in their domestic league. It was not something that i expected but good luck for them.
