Really, I do not think adding this latest merchant (mentioned 3 posts above) is helpful to the Guldencoin cause and future.
Or maybe I am wrong and have been expecting too much of Guldencoin. Anyway, I still hope NLG will become a serious digital currency used in the Dutch economy.
Guldencoin being associated with merchants that have sh.. in their brandname, will not do any good for NLG being taken seriously.

I'd disagree.  When there is full-fledged adoption of the coin, there will be far worse people using it than someone who sends a joke gift.  Adoption is adoption is adoption.  What's to say this store's owner doesn't take the coins they make from any sales and goes down to the pub and buys a beer with the coin.

If a closed-loop system is the end goal of NLG, as it should be for any crypto, adding another vendor, regardless of how obscure it is, just helps to make that loop that much easier to close.

Hell, I was almost tempted to buy a gift for clever when I saw this.

-Fuse

The real marketing world out there, and the way A-brands evaluate before jumping in, do not match your point of view.
Also it will not help convincing new users to start using crypto, this only contributes to the obscure image crypto have and should get rid off.
But hey, have fun with your shitexpress.

I agree. It's bad for our image, for both consumers and other businesses.

Also, having to send an email first doesn't really qualify imho.

Please do reconsider listing this. Quality over numbers, please!

Nothing? You sound like there are no other merchants and this is our only hope..

Regardless of what they sell I don't think the site needs much promotion from our side since they aren't promoting Guldencoin on their site either.

For next big announcements consider these maybe:

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=847469.0
https://twitter.com/CryptoTraders

I can accept altcoins as long there is enough buysupport on the exchanges (doesn't mean that I will sell, I'm holding several for longterm).

f.e. https://twitter.com/CryptoTraders/status/539448874096951296 lots of retweets.

Hey guys,

I just got my gulden coin stickers and cards, but here are some remarks.

first off there isn't enough information for new users on the Gulden coin website. e.g
What is digital coin?
Why use digital coin?
Why did the team make a digital coin?
What are the future goals? etc..

The first thing you see is a text "Pay with gulden coin" and the next page tells you to download a wallet? while most ppl wouldn't even know what a digital wallet is. (There is a small explanation after few clicks)

The other remark is why doesn't Gulden coin have a .nl domain?

the sticker says Guldencoin.nl, while that doesn't even exists. Only with a QR-scan is it possible to visit the website.

just some remarks.

That is why I suggested a welcomepage for both users and merchants to introduce Guldencoin with these. Hope Rijk can make a welcomepage with some good intro and with his creative skills it can be a good thing. After that jump to the site as it is now or split users and merchantsinfo. Think you are right about this.

Guldencoin.com automaticly detects if your ip comes from the netherlands and it directs to the dutch site. If your ip is from outside of the netherlands it is directed to the english version. Also guldencoin.nl directs to the website. So that is ok.  Smiley

Lots of succes with the cards and stickers, hope you can promote well! Cool

First of all, I'm glad you finally have them! This delay is totally my responsibility, so again my apologies for that!

I also think you do have a point. But maybe we can suffice with a bigger button on the homepage that links to a page for new users. There we can build a page that is "fool proof".

I will ask Rijk how he sees this...

We could add some more information about what cryptography is, make a page or two under 'Getting started'. And make it a little more prominent maybe.

Why did the team make a digital coin?

https://guldencoin.com/who-we-are
Maybe some more information about the 'why' on that page as well?

What are the future goals? etc..

A 'Goals' page under 'About' might suffice.

I just wanted to post this in case anyone hadn't seen it yet.

With more hashpower on the network dedicated to an actual pool, the longest block time is 50% of what it was previously, and the difficulty max has been much less.  So there are two points to be noted here.

First, more miners do help the network.  We knew this all along, and it's a fundamental principle of the blockchain- more miners=more stable chain.

Secondly, it proves the effectiveness of multipools against our current DGW3 implementation.  The swings in difficulty are too great, and they are causing clever to be able to capitalize on too many low difficulty blocks before shooting the difficulty to the moon.  Again, something we all knew.

I bring this up because my team has been testing DIGI over the last couple weeks on a testnet.  Initial results are very promising.  Retargeting is occurring quickly and efficiently.  We are seeing very good retargeting when large hashes come and go.  We've also found out some other key dynamics that are working against us in some cases.  I will let 24Kilo comment on those.  However, at this time I am standing behind my initial assertion that DIGI is going to fix this issue.  When we get closer to releasing data, we'll provide the charts and darts for community review.

Very interesting indeed. The choice for DIGI... I am curious how this work out on the simulator of GJ.

Sorry to say, but what do you call NLG? It's being manipulated, both by MP's and price suppression. Difference is, we the PEOPLE are manipulating it instead of the banks, and for a good reason. The power of the finance in the people's hands at it's finest. If we can handle this manipulation past full-fledged adoption, we have successfully shown the governments they need to quit screwing around with fiat. They had their chance at controlling money, they blew it. Think about how little we've heard about EU bailouts and USA QE once the domino effect finally ended, in the media anyway....

Just wait until the governments forget and start playing around with fiat again and cause a market crash. It will happen, only a matter of when. And that's when everyone will run to gold and BTC (or NLG), if BTC survives the dormancy period.
