Yatsenjuk:
"It's still far to victory. Victory will be when Ukraine does not buy Russian gas at all"
"It will be cold this winter"
"Ukraine will not depend of Russian gas in 5 years' time"

Poland pitches in (as expected):

Poland resumes reverse gas flow to Ukraine
http://rt.com/business/187260-poland-ukraine-gas-reverse/

Quoting in full:
Quote
Poland has resumed full deliveries of gas to Ukraine, Warsaw and Kiev confirmed on Friday.

“Today morning gas deliveries from Poland resumed,” Ukraine's Ukrtransgaz said in a statement.

Spokeswoman of Poland's state pipeline operator Gaz-System Malgorzata Polkowska also confirmed to RIA Novosti that gas deliveries to Ukraine have resumed “in compliance with the client’s wishes.”

The state gas company PGNiG hasn’t provided immediate confirmation.

On Wednesday it stopped deliveries, after Poland saw a sharp drop in gas flowing from Russia this week. Kiev blamed Russia’s Gazprom, saying it was pressing the country ahead of the cold winter.

Gazprom refuted the allegations saying that gas supplies were stable and at the contracted 23 million cubic meters a day.

Later the company clarified that Poland was talking about requested, not contracted gas, demand which Gazprom isn’t obliged to satisfy.

Germany and Austria also said there was a drop in Russian gas deliveries.

Looks like the Poles have halted the reverse supply of gas to Ukraine, after Gazprom refused to increase the volumes destined for Poland. As Poland is facing a shortage of gas, they may not be able to supply gas to Ukraine any further. May be the Ukrainians could get some gas from other neighbors, such as Slovakia or Romania.

According to the Eurocommisioner for Energetics, Ukraine will pay Gasprom $2 billion for the delivered gas, no later than in October, and $3 billion before the end of 2014.

If the $2 billion are paid, Gasprom will deliver 5 billion m3 for $385 per m3, paid in advance.

Yeah, talk is cheap, show us the money! Also, shouldn't the title of the thread be changed to "Ukraine succumbs to Gazprom price hike"?

Oh, well, they still didn't pay a penny...

Ukrain owes 5Billoins and may steal Europe's gas so Russia will stop providing gas to Europe via the Ukrain's gazoduc

Quote
Gas price and Ukraine debt to Gasprom: Ukraine will get Russian gas if they pay $3.1 bln out of $5.3 bln they owe Gasprom. In the future gas supply will be pre-paid only; the price is $385, which is a compromise. This is a $100 discount to the EU gas price. In reality, many EU countries pay less, which depends on volume and how long-term their agreement with Gasprom is. But since Ukraine never made long-term agreements with Russia, and even the ones they had made, keep being broken, they are not eligible for discounts.

If Ukraine fulfills these requirements, it will receive 5bln cubic meters of gas, which should be enough for the winter… if it’s warm. The likelihood is that Ukraine may need much more gas, as they’ve been lying about their true gas reserves. In that case, they will likely start siphoning EU gas as it happened so many times before.

Let’s remember that just before being overturned by the maidan coup in February 2014, Yanukovich signed the deal with Russia according to which the nearly bankrupt Ukraine would have been getting the much-needed gas at $220. Belarus, the member of the Customs Union, gets Russian gas practically for free, at $180, making Belorussian economy very competitive compared to the EU. This in part accounts for the so-called “Belorussian miracle” – stability, great infrastructure, robust economy, etc. I might do a piece about that at some point. So, the inevitable conclusion is that it’s so much more profitable to be friends with Russia.

Ukraine still hasn't paid anything despite Yatsenjuk stating the opposite (again):
http://lenta.ru/news/2014/10/04/gasdebtrepayed/

Meanwhile, an interesting statement from Iran, in reply to EU saying that can replace Russian gas with Iranian:

Iran not ready to replace Russia as gas supplier - Rouhani

The world just became smaller..

After the Russia food ban on $16 billion European exports, the EU warned the Latin American countries not to replace  but they were ignored. BRazil, Ecuador, etc. readily acted. Argentina even got a contract bigger than the whole EU- $18 billion.

Now, the EU bluffs Iran can replace Russian gas... then now this, what sharper rebuff can you get...

Conclusion: the bakrupt WEstern states are losing their clout in a big way by the day.

Ah, here's the explanation:
http://rt.com/business/193240-ukraine-pm-debt-eurobonds/

Quote
Ukrainian Prime Minister Yatsenyuk’s statement that $1.67 billion was transferred as part of the country's gas debt payment actually refers to the repayment of Eurobonds which Ukraine’s Naftogaz received under state guarantees, Russia’s Gazprom says.

Gazprom accuses Poland, Hungary, Slovakia of rerouting Russian gas to Ukraine
http://rt.com/business/192808-gazprom-poland-hungary-slovakia/

Quote
“There is every reason to believe that Russian gas is being delivered to Ukraine that isn’t intended for them, but for other European customers. This is generally done under the ‘virtual reverse gas flow’ scheme, but we have seen gas movements across the Ukrainian border,” as TASS quotes Deputy Chairman of Gazprom Aleksandr Medvedev.

They want gas but with their price

Russia is selling with discounts depending on when the contract has been signed, with who, the length and volume of the contract but if they don't want to give Ukraine a huge discount why would they have to?
I wonder when and if they will recover their 5Billions
