Tor is obsolete, insecure, compromised and thus deprecated. Use I2P.

Why do you say TOR is insecure? Has it been breached already? Is there any cryptocurrency which uses I2P at the moment?

Tor is a honeypot project. Look who funded its development. The US government. No wonder they closed all those dark markets. Some coins use I2P but I don't remember which, perhaps BitcoinDark was one? Anyway, this topic might be relevant to your interests:

Looks like Filecoin is more like Sia and StorJ. Want to provide alternative to dropbox and google drive etc.

SAFE is about that as well, but now more focused on a dedicated browser and domain registration and websites.

Have a look:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=W838ehMyWc4

This is what we'll see with Alpha 2. Download the browser, create an account en publish your own websites. After that they focus on Vaults from home again. So fully encrypted, decentralized storage network. Think of it as one big database where people store private data, public data (filesharing, websites etc.) and even chats, mail as SAFE supports Mutable Data now.

Would it be safe to say that we shouldn't expect a completed Maidsafe product until mid 2019?

So whats to stop storj to put a front end on that aggregates info in a browser style.....I mean thats what they kida already have by file storage, its not a huge step to do the front end bit.

I really don't see what is left to maidsafe.....also why have storj and sia? been able to get product out the door.

Maid safe simplify releases endless reports on how great they are doing and how many advances .... still no product that will pay me for my storage.

Even if they do get a better a product .... people will have already installed storj or others ...

Creating a decentralized DNS is not simply a front-end thing. MaidSafe already has it as you can see in the video. So you can create a domain on the system like safe://jubalix   which is fully protected by cryptography. Nobody has a clue what your IP is and even while they're running testnetworks controlling all the Vaults MaidSafe still has no idea who created what domain on the network. That's quite huge, no other project has that.

Self_Authentication is unique as well. All other projects out there want you to register over a sever, and a real P2P-system like Freenet simple doesn't have a way to log on to the network, even while the project is 17 years old now.

Self_Encryption is unique as well. Popular chunks get cached in the network, making things faster while at the same time still being 100% encrypted. Again very unique to MaidSafe.

If things are a simple as you say here, show me another decentralized network on which I can log on, one without servers where I could create a simple domain like safe://zeeman in 2 minutes. The Ethereum devs are working on Swarm, an idea from somewhere 2014 if I'm correct. Still not out. And IPFS, look at their GitHub. It was created in December 2013. The project has 32 people who have committed code since then:

https://github.com/ipfs/ipfs

Show me their decentralized network somewhere, where is it??? That's not to criticize them but just to make the point that these things are hard to do. And why does TOR still use these long .oinion addresses?? Just look at this one: http://3g2upl4pq6kufc4m.onion/  It's the address of DuckDuckGo. Why such a weird crypto_address if your point was true that a DNS is simple to implement. And notice it's still http://  people still attack these websites using javascript exploits and others. That's why SAFE has it's own browser. You can't hack someone's domain as there is no server to hack. That's way more secure.

So it all takes long but that's because it's hard. Here's the MaidSafe Vault on GitHub. It almost has 2000 commits. And that's just the Vault:

https://github.com/maidsafe/safe_vault

Here's Routing with over 5000 commits: https://github.com/maidsafe/routing

The results of how this stuff works are in the video I posted some replies back and on the Safenetwork forum. People are actually using this stuff right now. That's because they're close to their second official release. That will be Alpha 2. Quite an amazing accomplishment.

It's both actually, in a very weird way. Alpha 2 will run from datacenters but on small droplet-nodes. They could use some very big servers but that doesn't test for vaults from home again. So I guess several hundred small nodes. And what David is referring to is probably the Disjoint Group/sections part. So 8 nodes to start the network, then another 10 join and the network will split itself in 2 groups. Another 10 extra nodes and another split occurs. The nodes decide this for themselves, no action from any human/server needed. And the great thing is: they will keep all the data secured. Each chunk of data is stored by 8 nodes. If 1 of them crashes the other 7 will find a new node to get back to 8 again. This is decentralized as well.

https://github.com/maidsafe/rfcs/blob/master/text/0037-disjoint-groups/0037-disjoint-groups.md

Next to that we finally have Mutable Data in Alpha 2. Some community members already building a "Youtube":

https://safenetforum.org/t/safe-tube-release/15690

And this is what sets SAFE apart from all other P2P and crypto. It really allows for decentralized stuff. Metamask for Ethereum is cool, but it still depends on servers somewhere and now has 100k users:

https://twitter.com/metamask_io/status/897988358911266816

So the Ethereum idea was to decentralize stuff, but now 100K are moving to servers again as they don't run full nodes with a bloated blockchain. This is something SAFE fixes. Although it takes some time  Cheesy

This is what I'm talking about, since 2014 and all you have accomplished is literally nothing, I was looking at the site and every where I clicked I got redirected to a bunch of blabla, we all know about them already but where do we find the facking software to start facking farming? you are trading on exchanges for 3 facking years without people actually farming? what the fack people are paying for other than some tokens sold by you only? how stupid you think people are?

Hello,
the coin supply is 452552412. There is about 14000000 for sell in all exchanges. Maidsafecoin price is between 0.00008 and 0.00025 since 2016. the coinmarketcap chart doesn't show any pump period where big sells happened.
can anyone explan why only small amount of maid is in exchanges?
are people only holding it?

I realise the complexity of this project & who am i to tell you guys to push something out the door?
Oh right, i am an investor since ICO. I look around and see all these projects releasing something out the door within a year period.
Some of them might not have full functioning features but they released something. Maidsafe still hasn't released anything which the public can use in 4 flipping years with lots of funds and lots of Devs working on it. Its rediculous.
