Can anybody describe what will be the purpose of MaID token in the SaFe network? Will I be able to earn MaID coins just by providing my computing power? If yes, what will be the rate?

Downloading anything from SAFE will be free. You don't even need an account. So think of it as people sharing torrents... It's just a link and instead you might see something like:

safe://adomain/tutorials/my_crypto_tutorial.mp4

So no account needed, no Safecoin needed. The Farmers though make some money, because when you request that video from a website they deliver chunks of data from their Vaults. And they might get 0.0000012 Safecoin from the network.

If you want an account or a domain you need some Safecoin fro yourself. PUTting data to the network cost you some Safecoin. You need to "burn" some coins so to speak.

- So uploading cost you some Safecoin
- Downloading is free
- Domains cost some money
- Make Safecoin by running a Vault

Hope that helps!

They keep hiring new people. The BankToTheFuture funding brought them some BTCs in 2016. And these BTCs are giving them wings I guess  Grin

Dug Campbell joining them.

Really good new!

With Bitcoin price reaching 1 million dollar next year (per John McAfee), I doubt that Maidsafe price will be able to keep up, even if Bitcoin only reaches half of that.  Also, according to the price and trading topic in the Maidsafe forum, it looks like the Maidsafe enthusiasts are all content with the Maid dollar price reaching 8 times the price at the beginning of this year.  Nothing wrong with that, but that also means you will get a lot of weak hands selling at a lower satoshi price because they believe they made money dollar wise.  Before buying a coin know your community.  If a certain altcoin community are bitcoin purists, you know that this altcoin might do well.  If on the other hand the specific altcoin community always keeps bragging how much better their coins are than bitcoin, then you know that it either a scamcoin or a shitcoin.

You never know in current frenzy. MaidSafe might just start pumping and you will have to eat your words.

Sure, but while waiting till it happens I could use that money for coins that are presently pumping.  No need to keep any coins hostage for a long term.  Investing in shitcoins/projects/ICO requires a due date by which to sell the coins regardless of the price of updates.

That said, I do like that Maidsafe is fairly transparent with its updates, though I wish there was a clearer roadmap with dates.  It gives a better idea at one point to invest or to get out.

You would think that Maidsafe price would go up with the Internet Neutrality story.

You don't get the real value of Maid, in a world debating about Net neutrality only Maid & alike decentralised apps can solve the problem.

Hitbtc allows deposit finally.  Use Livecoin otherwise since Poloniex and Bittrex should be avoided.  Expect Maidsafe to loose its top 100 rank on coinmarketcap.

Any plans for a Ledger Nano S integration for the Maidsafe token? Nowadays the only way to store the token is quite weird and not very comfortable.

Exactly this !

There should be much easier ways made available to store made off of exchanges.
For me, MAID is about the only coin that I still keep on exchanges because I have no idea how to store them offline and no confidence I will be able to access them again if I do.
Creating a simple wallet or a Ledger add on shouldn't be too much work right ?
And it might also boost interest in MAID a bit.

I have read that some people were asking for a safe way to store their MAID tokens besides the current centralized exchanges.

Just to be clear, at the moment of writing, DO NOT execute on my advise and wait for the public release.

A project I have been following for over half a year is that of NVO (NVST),

They have been working on a wallet that will eventually offer secure storage for all crypto on the market (with decent volume or community I suppose).

Not only will you be able to store your crypto in the wallet, according to their roadmap it will become possible to trade all those coins on the decentralized exchange.

You will have all the private keys and will always be in control of your funds. I have tested the really early release which if I remember correctly already included MAID.

Keep a close eye on their project :-)

I expect when they do deliver, that most people will start using this wallet since it bundles all your holdings, gives you the opportunity to trade without other parties holding your funds as centralized exchanges are doing

at the moment.

I have recently obtained a holding in MAID and am really looking forward to the progress. For the non-tech crowd I think the DEV updates are quite technical, is there anyone who could shine some light on the actual functionalities of the next phase (Alpha 3 if I am correct) ?

I have stored my MAID ina cold wallet made with omniwallet. The point is that now I don't remember at all how to get it out of there.

Maid and any coins based on the Bitcoin blockchain are the easiest and safest to store offline.  Just deal with it as if you were dealing with Bitcoin.  Create a bitcoin paper wallet and send your Maids to this wallet.  That's it.
Later, to redeem them, use Omni Wallet.  Yep, that's it.
