They worked for months with a team designing and testing this stuff. You can not have secure data-storage in a P2P-network if the nodes can not agree on who stores what chunk of data. Especially if you want to provide 100% data integrity (like your chunks, coins and data still being there even if you didn't touch them for several years).

So no matter if the network gets 200.000 new nodes in a certain month, or if it looses a bunch of them...... Your data should be secured no matter what (even after an internet blackout).

It seems they have the consensus and Routing part in place (IP-connection layer was already done). This means they can finally move towards beta. First we'll see Alpha 3 and Alpha 4 I guess.

This could explain the increase in volume that someone has noticed lately. Let's really hope that beta is not too far, but on the other side, the real important aspect is the quality of the solution delivered, not the quantity of time that it is necessary to achieve it.

Alpha 3 would mean the routing layer would be in place... they said its bigger.  This would mean that maybe (just maybe) the breakthrough in routing was Transaction speed nirvana.. that would shake the foundation of crypto.

I really love this project. Even despite the recent drawdowns and falls of the market, MAID was able to grow a little. If you look globally, the coin is now at the bottom. And in the relatively future we are waiting for good news. So MAID takes in my portfolio a significant part of the investment. Just lets wait a little.

That is truly good news. Looking at the price graph is seems some serious accumulation has been going on in the past weeks. While most of the alts are suffering Maidsafe is slowly surging. I wish I had bought a few more at the bottom, but it's for sure not too late

It’s called PARSEC (Protocol for Asynchronous, Reliable, Secure and Efficient Consensus) and the details of the RFC are available here 1 and today we are also releasing a corresponding Whitepaper. In addition, those looking for a higher level introduction should also check out our Medium article. We hope you enjoy reading them as much as we enjoyed working on them.

As you will find, PARSEC is an effective solution to the difficult challenge of achieving vote ordering in a decentralised network, even if ⅓ of nodes minus one are malicious. This is very interesting in itself, but when we incorporate some of the other deliverables of the Routing library, such as: Add, Remove, Split, Merge and Secure message transfer the functionality this provides is quite revolutionary.

The exciting part about these papers is that the code is already written, and some of it is running in Alpha 2!

Lot of speedup on releasing Alpha 3 and up to BETA:

As many have speculated, this algorithm will reduce significantly the number of testnets and code we write. Instead of huge conditional sets in our codebase, it will be reduced to this algorithm. Then adding features: add, remove, split, merge and secure message relay, Routing will be complete for Alpha 3. This marks the end of the unknowns we have to face before launch. From this point on we will be finalising Vault rules, Safecoin farming, SOLID integration and all of the client API’s and bindings.

There are 2 smaller ones that are implementing maid afaik (maidsafe mentioned it at the devcon) but as of now not using hitbtc and instead polo/Cryptopia/changelly/omni ledger are the only reasonable options

A few days ago I create buy order at 4700 but did not get hit, and till today MAID price keeps going up, I'm very sad cannot get profit from this one coin 
But i will try to advantage of moments when MAID is in downtrend from a panic seller

Dynamic reallocation of group membership.. there's no route to attacking part, they would have to attack the whole network as one. It's a stunning achievement and the last uncertain piece of the setup for safe to now make steady progress towards release.

Also they're doing it all open source; so, parts will be useful to other projects looking to support decentralized networks.

MaidSafe have designed  a consensus system for ordering of events on their network. It isnt entirely revolutionary as it build on existing work in the space, but it cements an important part of the puzzle for the SAFENetwork. If SAFENetwork fulfils its promise it will become a fundamental platform for the internet.

If you start to realize how big this is all prices under 1$ are a bargain if you ask me. I mean they have proofed there consensus mechanism now with PARSEC which was the last unknown for maidsafe which is a huge deal. With the most critical part of the network now solved its de-risks the project in a enormous way imo from a investors point of view. It will be the first autonomous data network which is highly secure, scalable and fully decentralized. With instant, anon transactions without having to pay fee there are many other scalable solution out there but they all sacrifice decentralization or security one way or the other.

Devs can build all kind of dapps in almost any language on the network and those who develop the most used dapps will get funded from the network itself.

Data security is one of the biggest problems in the digital world, the current internet is not fit anymore for what we want to do with it, with all the personal info we store on it. Every day you read about hacks and breaches, no personal data is safe anymore and this is a very big problem that we came to accept, but this is not how its supposed to be and this can all change with the safenetwork.  

There are many possibilities with the safenetwork, I still cant even comprehend most of them, but I think we can say with much greater certainty now that this could really be a massive game changer.
