Japan government will probably ban anonymous cryptocurrencies such as Monero or Dash. Do you think that this will happen?

Wouldn't that be funny. If dash got banned for it's marketing claims that it's anonymous even though it Isn't. I wonder if they would try have their cake and eat it too by explaining to Japanese authorities how it isn't anonymous but telling everyone else to just ignore that. That would be the worst of both worlds for them, banned for being anonymous while not being anonymous enough to protect it's users from said ban. Maybe monero could survive being banned for being anonymous because it actually is, but all the dash users would just be tracked down on the blockchain for using an "anonymous currency". Cheesy Cheesy Cheesy
But I still do not understand this kind of anonymity.
When you buy or sell Monero, probably you will use exchanges.
Only way how to exchange these anonymous cryptocurrencies is on the street?

Well the stuff about dash not being anonymous isn't animosity, that's just facts. But I guess there was a little bit of animosity with the bit near the end where I was imagining that potential beautiful irony.

The animosity comes from the fact that they are a complete and total scam/fraud yet still their market cap is around about the same as our legitimate project. That's frustrating you know. Watching that day in and day out.  It just wears on you. It can make one a little bit bitter.

Incidentally, watching dash day in and day out for years now, I really feel like I empathize with car company executives. That must be what it's like to be an executive at Ford watching Tesla except 100 times worse. Here ford is making tons of really great products at really competitive prices and they are having to cut product lines to stay in business. While Tesla never needs to make a profit, hardly even makes any cars, relies on welfare and their marketcap is something like 50 times greater than fords. But Tesla doesn't need products when it has better marketing! Not unlike our friend dash. Can you imagine. When ever you think we have it bad. Imagine what it must be like to be a auto manufacturer exec.

...

Actually by the title there really should only be Monero on that chart and a few other cryptonote coins could be added as well. But yeah I see your just comparing coins that people claim are anon and have large caps. Wink

Latest Linux GUI wallet is still not connected to daemon. Is there any update or fix for this? When? The CLI works anyway.

This issue will be fixed in the upcoming point release, which should be released in 1-2 weeks. Also, see:

https://github.com/monero-project/monero-gui/issues/1261

The information of status of this coin is low. It is not ok to run all over internet to reddit to find solutions for a coin of 4B$ marketcap. There is no info at all of this issue at getmonero.org. There must be some status site there.

I am not sure if getmonero.org would be the appropriate place to list such issues. However, I am curious if you personally have a viable idea that would make it easier for users to find common issues (and how to resolve them or use temporary workarounds)?

Privacy matters, use Monero - A true untraceable cryptocurrency

Actually mirroring git issues on the official site would be a good idea.

I agree if any common issues displayed on the official site of the users will be easier to see and certainly will be trusted because all announcements are on the official site.

I really hope the anon coin bans start happening soon, if Japan tees off first it might start the dominoes falling, we need to just get it done and dusted, it's inevitable and probably the best marketing any coin could ever hope for, let TPTB do all the heavy lifting on sorting the wheat from the chaff for crypto newbies.

Like the John West tuna adverts, "it's the crypto governments ban that makes Monero the best",

Governments don't like wealth transfers that they can't track. They will probably ban anonymous coins but they can never stop them. It could a niche market but a very big niche market too.

I agree with you. Verge actually has private feature. But no one of them can surpass over XMR.

Verge is just as private as bitcoin, as long as you don't reuse addresses, or use a stealth address since they've been available in bitcoin wallets since 2012 or 2013. Don't believe everything you read on the internet, especially stuff on instamined clone coin website that used to be known as dogecoindark.
