If you want to live comfortably in retirement, bitcoins are the wrong place to look. Check the history. They've been going down in value all year!

Invest in FacebookCoin or whatever it's going to be called, or maybe just invest in a low cost index fund (since you're talking 20 years down the road).

Umm, check the history?  perhaps you can go back more than a few months?  I think the overall return on Bitcoin has been pretty good.  from a few cents to over $400 in a few year years?  Has any investment in our lifetime been that good?

Facebookcoin?  Really?  You would trust hard earned money in an account with the kind of "security" Facebook is known for?   Huh
off course the price of the bitcoin matters if he has a stable price he won't be so popular. To invest in bitcoins makes them only stronger. You cant buy something of  you don't have enough to even buy it. If something costs 400 and the coin price is 300 you can't buy it but maybe next week if the value is higher.

I would personally advise you to get around 50 just to be safe. Although, there is no way i see bitcoin being anywhere over 10,000$ anytime soon at all. If they go up to 3-5k$, well happy times for you!
50 is not enough actually, you need at least 100 BTC and in 20 years you can start saving now, regular saving is very important to accumulate a good number of bitcoin by 20 years and the amount or value will appreciate and that will be good for your investment, you will enjoy then.
100 BTC is the minimum amount that is very appropriate for the next 20 years. we do not know the price in the future, so you must be anticipated by having a minimal amount of decent, when in the future rising prices are not very high.
i guess than you prepare for how many bitcoin to be stored for a retreat in 20 years would be better off saving little by little over time so you know how big bitcoin growth.

There are so many permutation and combinations to apply to give the answer. Firstly will bitcoin exists til that time or will your country still accept it?
Also what is the value at that time will decide how mcuh btc you should be having and how money at that time you require.

It's something that's better than having to spend some of the money that we have to buy all of the bitcoin and save it. The reason is not necessarily what we think would be the right thing and it can only be determined on what will happen on the technology that will be created. So you're never too early to do it all, the most important is the life you helped by the existence of the bitcoin. If it is already being met then I think it will make you calm

As many as possible, I suggest. Many financial experts are predicting that bitcoin price will rise significantly in the nearest future, and I believe that bitcoin is one of the best investment opportunities available at the time.

This is difficult to predict, and no one can actually predict the next 20 years. However, I could say 100 BTC, may be enough to have a good life.

we must have a target and not just to save little by little, you have to make it as much as possible. at least 100BTC  must be achieved before the next 20 years. because we do not know what will happen in the next 20 years, so we have to think about the price, if 20 years later the price does not go very high.

For me it would be enough and 1BTC but if bitcoin price will pump out to $1M each (which I highly doubt will happen)...

Then get more. If that is your prediction which you highly doubt, then why not make it 2M or 3M and so on. It aint that hard for now. There are many opportunities to earn it that are waiting.

The amount of bitcoin you need depends on your standards of living and where you live, living in a Third World country in which you feel comfortable will be a lot cheaper than living in a first world country.

If bitcoin reaches 3K by the time you retire and you live in a country in which the average person can live with let's say 15K then you only need five coins per year if you retire by 60 and live another 20 years then you will need 100 coins.

Lol, even if that happens he or anyone of us may wont be alive to see that because that is really not gonna happen so soon.
He would just need to accumulate around 100 bitcoins for getting retired so that he can spend them later on when the price would be quite reasonable.

The problem's that we never know when anything can happen and Bitcoin will fail. It's possible, we can see this anywhere around us. Disasters happening, taking the fear to a basically new level. The price went down as Bitfinex got hacked.. How are you so sure there is no hack going to take place anytime soon again?

I disagree, it will totally depend on the price of bitcoin, if price goes higher then even 10 btc can take care of you at the time of retirement or else even 100 btc would not be enough.

It's very huge amount of money, cause retiring means you will not recive money anymore, and i can't understand why you want to retire when you can create you own buisness.

Lets say I want to buy bitcoins today and store them for 20 years to use a my retirement fund.  Live comfortably, but don't need to buy a yacht or anything.  How many do you think I would need to buy?

This question is very tricky because we don't know or don't have the knowledge to predict after 20 years what will happen with the internet neither with the bitcoin.
I think that you should count a million dollar equivalent in bitcoin, so around 2,000BTC or more I think should be enough.

If you are a bitcoiner then there is no age limit for retirement, you can earn bitcoin till you are alive, so if you get retire from full time job then you can get full time in bitcoins after that.

When you get retired sometimes means that you are not able to work anymore so bitcoin is just money that is for the work we do, so just a kind of money.
Thinking from now about the retirement is a bit early but at least thousands of bitcoin at current value should be enough but who know what price will have bitcoin after 20 years.

Earning bitcoin doesn't involve any physical efforts, you can easily earn it by sitting at home in front of computer so I will keep on earning bitcoins even if I get retired and older.

yeah agree of course it will not be enough. let alone in the future course of the year the cost of living would be very expensive. Of course you need more bitcoin for survival
