There is no specific answer in this question
It depends from the country you live, your lifestyle and the bitcoin price ofc
It all depends upon your location of the world and it's your country's PCI but 100BTC that will be fine for me to live my life happily after retirement. But my retirement may come after 34 years only.

For me 100 btc isn't enough at all, because we don't know what's going to be the price of bitcoin for 20 years.
I guess thousand of bitcoins is enough and you need to consider the fluctuation of price and you need to estimate it for 20 years.
So 1k btc I guess is enough.

You would need so much bitcoins to do this and I think its even that you cannot know the worth in the future so maybe you need less or a lot more its really depending on the price..

The country I live in I think 50 to 60 btc can really take best care of me in next 20 years, not sure what will be the price but even if its stable on $1k, I can live best life.

Wow, thats very low cost of living. I think if you live in a first world countries you need atleast 2000 btc to be able to retire and make 20years of living without doing anything,

If you want to live comfortably in retirement, bitcoins are the wrong place to look. Check the history. They've been going down in value all year!

Invest in FacebookCoin or whatever it's going to be called, or maybe just invest in a low cost index fund (since you're talking 20 years down the road).

Umm, check the history?  perhaps you can go back more than a few months?  I think the overall return on Bitcoin has been pretty good.  from a few cents to over $400 in a few year years?  Has any investment in our lifetime been that good?

Facebookcoin?  Really?  You would trust hard earned money in an account with the kind of "security" Facebook is known for?   Huh
if you want to retire in 20 years you need to have allot of bitcoins how many money do you want 1 million you need atlest 1400 bitcoins for now.

You will need  a lot of bitcoin if you ask me, the bitcoin can be worth a lot but its also that its not to predict these days because you do not know the future of the bitcoin.
Everything can happen with the bitcoin, it can even disappear for good if you ask me.

No one know some will want to have just one others 1001
Most will be good with 100 in 20 years price might be high enough for all
The question is just buying 100 bitcoins will be enough for him for his future ? because after retirement he can not probably work much and would be dependent on the bought amount of bitcoins.

yeah I think we have to look at the current price of bitcoin. if the price is more than $ 2,000 bitcoin maybe you need at least 100 more BTC. it will be very profitable and you can buy anything with the money.
you have to make a prediction and collect bitcoin according to your target,

the price might also drop to be honest and people would need a lot of bitcoins in the future

i think you might need a couple of thousands of bitcoins in order to retire in 20 years

Well 4 bitcoins is not enough for you to sustain and retire in 20 years. That's not even enough to survive for 1 year. The price of bitcoin is fluctuating
sometimes up, and sometimes down and we don't know what would be the price of it in the future in 20 years.
So, I would say you need so many bitcoins in able to retire in 20 years.

Exactly, that is too low because in the future, the price will also increase due to economic crisis. But anyway, it would also depend on your lifestyle because if you are living below your means then it would be easy for you to manage a little funds like that, but in my case it is really low. Make it at least 10 BTC.

Well, I think 100 BTC is enough, because 1 bitcoin could may go up to over 1 million dollars by the time you retire. Investing in a retirement fund is not a good idea with the fiat currency system in place.

Bitcoin is a much better option.

not sure where you get the information from that 1 bitcoin can reach a value of $1 million, but it's not going to happen. it's better to set yourself some more realistic price targets. i can see a price of around $10,000 at most, at some point in the far future. if that indeed turns out to happen, then 100btc will be worth $1 million. which is a fantastic amount to retire with.
There's a possiblity it will but we just don't know when. To reach that such value which is 1 btc to $1 million we need 2-3billion of people to use bitcoin and make it circulate around.

Lets say I want to buy bitcoins today and store them for 20 years to use a my retirement fund.  Live comfortably, but don't need to buy a yacht or anything.  How many do you think I would need to buy?
I think that if you have at least 100 and we have a price in the future that we somewhat expect now then you should be all right. But do not rely on the Bitcoin only try to save ass much money possible from your day job ass well.

100 btc is a really good amount to hold for the future, even if price doesn't reaches to the moon you can expect good and luxury life with that amount of bitcoins.

This is really a hypothetical scenario, reason being if you stay in a country where bitcoin is not allowed or in future country policy changes and its closed for that country so what you will do?

Who know if it turns out to be 100$ or 1$ per btc so even if you 1000$ will not make much sense for the future holding of btc.

After few years bitcoin price maybe $5000 or already replaced by other currency.
even if the price of bitcoin is 5000$ still not enough to replace the other currencies we all know,
if we accept bitcoin as a currency, bitcoin must have a fixed price.
A bit harsh but right because most of the people will not start using bitcoins.
Yes, stability is required for bitcoin to replace most of the currencies, but at the same time I love the price up and down because I earn with it with my bitcoin trading skills.

therefore you must make a plan from now mate. how many bitcoin that you need on your pension time ? do prediction what the price is going to happen in 20 years to come and compare it with the cost of living in your country and make targets unattainable. to me maybe I need to collect at least 300 BTC
