I think it doesn't depend on coins.
Did you see clause 4? on the 1st page:

4. One more command line is needed. Navigate to Fantomcoin's folder and launch minerc.exe using the next command:

minerc --node1=127.0.0.1:8081 --node2=127.0.0.1:24081 --wallet1=%your BCN/MRO/QCN address% --wallet2=%your FCN address%

--node1=127.0.0.1:8081 is IP and BCN's daemon port. If you want MM with MRO you need to use this one: --node1=127.0.0.1:18081 instead
--node2=127.0.0.1:24081 is IP and FCN's  daemon port

You may be doing nothing wrong. It took me 3 days to find my first block. Sometimes I'll find a block in 3 days, sometimes in 3 hours. It depends on your hash rate, the network difficulty, the number of other miners, etc.

I MM Fantomcoin with QCN sometimes. Other times I merge mine FCN with XMR (formerly MRO).

As for pools, there is no FCN pool to date, nor is there any pool that MM FCN with another coin.

I am amazed that nobody has yet to implement either a FCN or a FCN-merged pool, given that the source code for crytonight pools is available. I know it would require time and coding skills, but that's money just waiting to be made.

fcn is similar to mro but is also very different
so the pool of mro dont work with fcn
also it would be a useless pool
seen that even the miners "minerd o simpleminer" dont work with fcn

This could be the trigger for FCN if we could somehow capitalite on that and draw the GPU crowd in.

Can someone please tell me how do I solo mine Fantomcoin with this miner? what are the Bat setting?

As for the GPU miner, it's for Windows only and not Linux, and I'm a Linux guy so I'm afraid I can't help with Windows settings, although the first post in that thread gives the settings. Are they not working?

As for solo mining with the GPU miner, that won't work for anyone because it's a pool miner.

Your options for solomining FCN are to use minerc (to merge mine), SoloMiner (to merge mine), or simpleminer (to mine only FCN).

Also, just to clarify, if you're merge mining FCN with another coin, you're not splitting your hash power between the 2 coins. If you can get 100H on one coin, then when you merge mine, you are mining both coins at 100H (not 50H each).

I was just used start_mining in simplewallet to mine on fantomcoind.exe. Shouldn't that work?

It should and it will. You can easily calculate how often (in theory) you can find the block using this formula - difficulty/your_hashrate/60/60 = hours until the block find.

Is there a conf file somewhere that I need to edit? That folder path doesn't exist on my PC. I just downloaded the Win64 version from the OP.

Well, it's not exactly an error - daemon tried to open up a port for itself on your router, but it failed. Since you either don't have a router or it's forbidden on it. It should not affect work of the daemon tho.

Are you certain it's not syncing?
