Where is MsCollec?

Up to now this seemed a serious project but the last few hours are making me doubt.
We just had rightcoin turn scam as well.

These moments are far too critical for the devs to not be around

I got new wallet and added .conf file and still can't sync.  Undecided
yeah me too

I am pretty sure that (about 6 hrs ago) the OP said you do not need a new wallet after the POW ended.

This is true, but nobody is perfect.

The reason people cannot sync is because the last block was found hours ago, and currently there is only 1 working pool that i know of (p2p pool)
That pool is currently operating at roughly 100 MH/s at a diff of 1257.423 so you can imagine it will take quite some time to solve 1 block at that diff with the current hash.

The only way to speed things up is pointing more MH/s to that working pool. (or towards another pool if it comes online)

I have tried to contact several pool operators on IRC, but they all seem to be AFK.

has pow finished?

yes! some minutes ago.
in the next hours POS should start (and confirming the last 50 mined blocks too)

Hours for POS to start?  That seems...awkward.  No further transactions will go through until we have block 7201 and beyond, right?

that is right, but maybe POS starts in some minutes. i can´t say when this first stake is incoming, maybe someone can Show a screenshot if it is happen.
It is my understanding that staking is already taking place, except that you don't have mature coins until thirty days. My wallet shows a stake weight when I run "getinfo" in the console, and also a little arrow symbol on the overview page that says "Not staking because you don't have mature coins" when you hover over it. Similar to other PoS coins I've played with. So long as your wallet and several others are connected to the network, it'll keep generating blocks. What I have no idea of is the block times. In some coins it seems to speed up significantly in PoS mode. Lower diff or something.

THx. I am new to POS and was wondering about how this worked. Very clear and concise explanation.

Do i have to unlock my wallet periodically in order to stake? I know some guys at BlackCoin had their coins stolen while their wallet was unlocked for staking. How do we stop that happening to us? Should i just unlock and let it update and then re lock it?

Just wait. The OP went to bed right before the PoW stage ended, it was late after all...

For those of you that can't sync your wallet, simple fix. Close your wallet. Open up the appdata/roaming/sync folder and delete everything in it except for wallet.dat, then reopen the wallet. Now it'll sync.

Does all this mean that there must always be some hash coming in to the chain? To keep the thing going?
Or could this be activated in the wallets?

Guys. I am still around and won't sleep until the issue is resolved. We are having too less hash rate and currently there is just one pool is up on right fork. We need more hash to jump to the next block.

No, there should be no need for that after the PoW blocks have matured and PoS kicks in properly.
Unfortunately I do not have the technical oversight to explain it in detail, perhaps someone with more knowledge of the PoS system could elaborate.

@MsCollec

Do we need to upgrade to a new wallet version when PoW phase ends?

no.

Here's OP quote about not having to update to the new wallet after POW ended.

EDIT: DOH...I caught up on my reading finally. Looks like the new wallet is mandatory.

I guess it will be the same if I solomine through my own wallet as there's no reward to share anyway?

How much hash power and time we need? Maybe some rental rigs will fix this situation.

There is no spot on the multipool that shows individual hashrate yet soooo how are you deriving your speed? Please don't tell me you are looking at total hash rate.

you can find it on http://multipoolmining.com/  instead of  http://sync.multipoolmining.com/

Mine just went over its normal has rate for my rig....while it was 1 M below awhile ago. Something seems to be getting corrected.

OK, so long as you know he hasn't jumped ship. I wish I could be less cynical but these last few days I've seen it all.

I still don't understand why we should be wasting hashes for PoW that yields no reward. Couldn't PoS just start immediately?

I hate to sound like an ass but this sort of thing really should have been predicted
