when will we see the first versions with the UI. I don't need  specific date just some timeframe.

I think alot of people still don'T get the blocknet fully but thats ok. its like the thought of a stateless society. it requires abandoning some old thought processes that have been established through years of public school education and mass media. it takes time. If you don't have that time xc is not an easy place to be atm. if you are willing to stick through the rewards should be massive.

For the team it will be a delicate task to find a middle ground between catering to the conservative needs of investors (progress on the coin itself in a more self centred fashion) and carefully establishing a openminded understanding of the revolutionary concepts getting worked on beyond that.

everybody that is still trying to wrap their had around the blocknet have to start with this thought:

the blocknet is not an entity!
its just the summ of all nodes implementing the Xbridge in a decentralised fashion. nothing goes "through" the blocknet. you can't shut it of. It is to the blockchain of different coins what their blockchain is to their different nodes. Its the biggest step in development since the blockchain itself. i'm repeating myself here to help people understand.

In an ideal  future most coins will have the Xbridge enabled in their wallet. so the same parameters of free market and competition will be in place on the blocknet like on the internet now. So nobody has to fear xc giving of his tech to the blocknet, thats not possible.

^^

Your explanations have really helped many of us understand the benefits and implications of the blocknet. I really appreciate it  Smiley.

A quick question about distribution. With so many people seeking xmixers, do we risk locking up too many coins? Is there a limit to the total number of mixers allowable?

as long as the minimal amount to host a Xmixer is flexible i don't see that as a problem. it just has to be established in purchasing power more than in just numbers. a regular revision of the mandatory amount compared to the gdp or something could do that. its more about the ratio to a real basket of goods. i hope one day 1 xc will be the required funds to get mixer fees cause it will be worth the same as 1000 now.  Smiley

Speaking of lack of liquidity, one of the major things that inspired the creation of the Blocknet is that we perceived a need to create an entire ecosystem for XCurrency.

Real usage has to start somewhere. It'll start on the Blocknet, and as we approach our official public launch we expect it to become more and more of a real-world thing.

Is Blocknet to be released before rev3 - official release?

A little clarification with the timeline would be great Synechist.

Where does the XC Inc ITO, Blocknet ITO/release figure with XC rev 3 release? Thanks in advance!

It should be the Blocknet, Rev 3, and then the XC Inc ITO. However the order of the latter are fairly likely to be reversed so that we can launch with handy things like in-app fiat purchases and investment capital for marketing.

Syn,
Spend a fair amount of time on the XC anon tech & personally consider it unbreakable.  To me this is something big, really big & a great selling point. Am sure a lot of people will agree on this. But most, if not all, of those people are already in this community. But when will the rest of the world learn about this?
You really go start the XC Inc ITO on the words: Trust me, we have build the best anon coin (and a lot more) or prove this first to the world and than use all that extra attention from outsiders to start the Inc ITO with the words: want to join us?

Seems to me great tech is just laying around somewhere waiting to be presented with a lot of other great things in the perfect V3 bundle. Understand the anon tech will be extended some more with stealth addresses, not sure this is necessary but trust Dan to make that call & that there is another, undisclosed tech, to be expected in the next release.

The new package (2.5 or 3.0) will have so much different stuff in it, how and when will the individual parts get there 15min of fame?

coin is dead, I havent seen this unhealthy of price movement in a very long time, Seems no matter the publicity it gets people still wanna dump this coin and move on. This in turn causes new investors to turn away, from investing in XC because no1 wants to touch a falling commodity/coin. And dont try to say its a bot on Bittrex because the price action has been definitely human Embarrassed  O well, ya win some and loose some.
Yeah i thought the same about bitcoin when it was around a $1 and wasn't going up so i sold...now i drink myself to sleep every night

lol.... that's a hell of a story... now you got the experience... This should be a lesson to all "early adopters". What was it like when you first used the internet? The first time you could phone any1 from anywhere... The first time you wacthed a measly 240p vid attached to your isp email? Then the first time you watched a full HD one in your smartphone? Bitcoin is as important as all though major breakthroughs, maybe even more so, and XC is a big step up. It is just way to early to see it yet.

Im w8ing like a predator for our "1$" so I can throw pure FIAT at it.

I would have estimated that Blocknet would be a longterm project? - i.e over a year....a decentralized exchange, plus all the other massive components isnt something you code over a month or two. Look at openbazaar....thats just one piece probably as big as a decentralized exchange.

I mean it'll launch soon, but yes, development will continue indefinitely.

Some of the tech is already part-done BTW. This isn't too huge a task. ;-)

Synechist - my only worry is that the Xbridge tech will be based on the Xnode coding, will that not mean we will be going open source earlier than expected? opening up the the chance of more pump and dump coins?

The Xnode protocol is security-related rather than privacy-related. It's the end-to-end encrypted communications protocol between nodes. You can put pretty much anything down that pipe, including Privacy Mode and XChat.

This protocol technology will be adapted to work on any node, and an API and a general applications platform built around it. This whole package will be open source.

Fortunately this means that none of XC's user-operable features will be copyable. :-)

Doing this also makes sense in terms of our policy on going open source on a delayed timeline. The Xnode protocol was a Rev 1.5 thing if I remember correctly, so it's about time.

I just fall in love with XC day after day more and more and more and more  Grin Grin Grin Im compleately sold to it If I had more money I would throw everything I have on it.

those prices are just screaming buy more if I hadn't have to buy a car at the end of the month I would have thrown 2000 Euro more into it.

FIAT will collapse hard in 2015 I will convert all of what im paid for in XC each end of the month don't want to be stuck in Fiat when it will reach its presupposed use:

Failed to install xcurrency-qt on Linux Mint 17 (based on Ubuntu Trusty). The package has libdb4.8++ in its dependencies while on Trusty there are only 5.1 and 5.3 available (on Ubuntu 12.04 there's only 5.1).

4.8++
5.1++
5.3++

Tried to repack .deb. It installed but failed to run as it was trying to find libdb_cxx-4.8.so. I guess I could've made a symlink but packages should be corrected anyway.

Hey guys, I'm the staff member who packages Ubuntu builds. The libdb4.8++ packages are used for full backwards compat, as is part of the Bitcoin standards. You can get the packages from the Bitcoin PPA here: https://launchpad.net/~bitcoin/+archive/ubuntu/bitcoin

That a rough guess, not a commitment, especially because it's a third party doing the UI.

Note also that the UI is actually a Rev 3 commitment, though of course we want you to preview it (and test it, and thoroughly refine it) before then.

I wish to know how the Fiat/XC exchange will work. My guess is that you will have to work with a country that has loose reporting requirements like Bulgaria.

The ATM's are a nice touch, bit USA has strict rules regarding identification and are too few.

How in this day in age do you keep your anonymity and buy XC with Fiat?

Maybe we can get Ripple on board with the Blocknet.

I hope everyone realizes that the technology being built here is powerful beyond our wildest dreams.

Yeah, it'd be nice if the BTC ratio would rise a bit to meet our natural desire for immediate satisfaction, but this technology is beyond profit and deserves a closer look.

The BlockNET will be the foundation upon which outdated institutions can be replaced.

Have a little anarchy in you? Great! The BlockNET can facilitate movement towards a stateless society. Self-regulation can be coded into being instead of written/voted/manipulated/bought into being.

What's the first thing anyone ever says when you proclaim a desire for the government to go away?

"What about the roads and our safety and blah blah blah..."

Technology like the BlockNET can replace government entirely. It will allow us to set up local, regional, national, global networks for raising issues, voting on issues, and acting on/financing issues in a truly decentralized system.

This isn't about profit. It's about building a better world.

Dan and team, thank you so much for your contributions on this project.

I see the big picture and I love every bit of it.

That is why im in crypto I think all major XC believers think alike
