Hello,

I'm trying to get a rig up and running using a Radeon R9 380 on Windows 7.  I'm using sgminer 5.1, AMD SDK 3.0, and Catalyst 15.20.  It will connect to the pool, and sgminer shows hashing, but no shares are ever accepted.  I've tried different pools, uninstalling/installing catalyst and amd sdk. I tried using another mining program, with basically the same results.

This is what i have for my batch file:

Code:
sgminer.exe --algorithm scrypt -o stratum+tcp://scrypt.usa.nicehash.com:3333 -u 1BceNw9f9wY8Vx9LNN1Dn1Xou4EjnUBkcf  -p x

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

This may not be related because I'm on LINUX with an R9 290 GPU, but:

Yesturday I upgraded fron Catalyst 15.5 to Catalyst 15.20 and I had the same problem with the X11 algorithm. sgminer would hash away at 7 MH/s without any problem, but it would never accept any shares. I changed sgminer versions, kernels and .bin(s) to no avail. The only thing that worked was to go back to a previous Catalyst version that I had at hand (14.6).

ive found that 15.7 is the best catalyst version to run this with ...

mine are all 7970 / 280x oc cards - but they had a similar issue - until the latest sgminer compiled with cat15.7 ...

x11 with wolf0 bins are the most stable we have had ... wolf knows what the hell he is doing when it comes to optimization and stability ...

#crysx
haven't been paying attention...but thanks for that....are AMD SDK's necessary and if so what version?

in fedora 22 x64 ( KDE version NOT gnome - as catalyst is broken with gnome ) - the latest AMD_APP works very well with the compile ...

depending on the linux distribution you are using though - that may be different ...

#crysx
should have qualified...op system is windows 7

So I tried installing a previous catalyst version 15.7.1, and after i do that I check the driver version and it shows 15.20. Sad  Then I try an even older version 14.x and check the driver, and again it installs 15.20.   Ran sgminer anyway to try, and the card just hashes away, but no shares are accepted.  I tried neoscrypt too, to no avail.  If the problem is with the drivers, catalyst won't let me install a older driver.  If the problem is with having the R9 380, then I still have time to return it.  BUT I fear that if I buy a 7970 for example, catalyst will still force me to install v15.20, which looks like doesn't work  Sad  Maybe I'm screwed as far as GPU mining.  I already have a T2 for scrypt, but I wanted to do another algorithm with GPUs.

I doubt if there is a problem with your R9 380. Hopefully some Windows wizard will chime in about Catalyst!

go to device manager and install the drivers manually from folder where is uncompressed ati drivers installer i.e. C:\ati\version of driver
or use display-uninstaller

genreal version 15.20 IS fglrx version 15.7 ...

amd just set their version in a silly way like that ...

it doesnt seem to be the driver or the card ...

what version sgminer are you using? ... what are you mining? ... and where? ... and what is the exact commandline you use? ...

I'm using sgminer 5.1.  I've tried scrypt and neoscrypt algorithms.  Where? I'm in usa, and tried usa nicehash, and eu nicehash.  Or if you are asking where I have sgminer., its just in a the same folder it came in after I unzipped it.

Code:
"C:\Users\Gridseed1\Downloads\sgminer-5.1-nicehash\sgminer-5.1-nicehash\sgminer.exe" --algorithm scrypt -o stratum+tcp://scrypt.usa.nicehash.com:3333 -u 1BceNw9f9wY8Vx9LNN1Dn1Xou4EjnUBkcf  -p x

That's the exact contents of my .bat file. (Gridseed is just the computer/username,, i used to have some gridseeds hooked up to this computer)

I've also tried the above code but with doing neoscrypt instead.  It doesn't have any problem connecting to nicehash, and it hashes appropriately.  It just never gets any shares.  I started with 8 intensity.  Waited for about 30 minutes with nothing. Then changed to 11, then 15, but still nothing.  I left it going overnight and checked in the morning, but not a single accepted share.

sgminer.exe" --algorithm scrypt -o stratum+tcp://scrypt.usa.nicehash.com:3333 -u 1BceNw9f9wY8Vx9LNN1Dn1Xou4EjnUBkcf  -p x

I presume the " after sgminer.exe is just a typo.

More than likely your problem is just environment variable linkage with the AMD_SDK. You can run clinfo.exe which should have installed with Catalyst or the SDK. It will let you know if it's a Catalyst/SDK problem if it doesn’t correctly identify your R9 380.

Hopefully the Windows gurus will help sort it all out.

what hashrate at what nicehash share diff ?

(i'm asking coz at 8-11 intensity and share diff 4096 you probably won't get any shares for 30 min)

I changed it to intensity 12, and share diff is only 32.  The hashrate is only going at about 75khs  (is that normal for neoscrypt?) But that's for neoscrypt. An update to everything I've tried so far:  I took the advice of going into Device Manager and installing drivers that way.  Then I tried again with neoscrypt with no luck.  Then for giggles I tried the X11 algorithm, and lo and behold it started accepting shares.  Then I tried Lyra2rev2, and no shares accepted there. :/  So i put my other R9 380 on and fired it up too.  So now I'm at about 140khs for neoscrypt, but still no shares accepted, diff is 32 still.  I'll leave it running for a half hour to see what happens.

scam?
I must be very special with my handful of gpus's... as I just got this pm.

I have a special bin files. For x11 R280x makes 12.5 mgh on stock. When the frequency of the chip in 1150 - 14 mgh. Lira2RE at a frequency of about 1140 - 13.5-14 mgh. Quark at the same frequency of about 14.5 mgsh. For 290 speed is 1.5-2 igsh more with frequency selective in 1060 on a chip. 290h more. All proportionately. Interesting?
Especially please do not report to anybody!

I never wrote to me, and do not buy anything.
they bought elsewhere and want to leave just a miner himself.
write to me in private.

hi all ...

NEVER EVER EVER trust newbie accounts that claim such things ... or people selling miners that are windows based ONLY ( as windows is closed source and you just dont know what is coded into them - linux has the source provided so you CAN get it checked )  - unless they are from trusted sources and devs - like sp djm34 tpruvot pallas klaust and a number of others ...

these devs are solid community members AND they are trusted ... you only every need to post a question about any of them in most of the threads they frequent - and you will get an honest answer from the community ...

if THEY charge for THEIR work - these devs can support their OWN work ...

not like these profiles that claim so much only to fleece you all of btc ...

be careful guys ... even private miners can be asked about - as there are many people that would be happy to povide the info that you need BEFORE you pay these fraudulent accounts ANY btc ...

they have no issue with morals - as even the smallest amounts of btc is worth a great deal of money ( fiat ) in their own countries ...
