I really can't understand why people would run a free miner from an unknown user... What do you expect? :-) No Christmas yet ;-)

Say "Thanks" to russian idiots. So the sgminer.exe is infected, but do you try use these bins on clean sgminer ?
Don't works

Don't works Ok THX For anyone who's rigs are infected , and don't want to reinstall system, try combofix, works. http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/download/combofix/

PS To whom it may concern: as you know the miner is infected, but you also should know that any try to use those bins with custom sgminer is useless. the names of bins are incorrect, the correct ones are: fake darkcoin-modTahitigw64l8ku0.bin ---> real wolf-x11Tahitigw64l8ku0.bin fake lyra2REv2Tahitigw64l4ku0.bin ---> real qubitcoinPitcairngw64l4ku0.bin fake quarkcoinTahitigw64l4ku0.bin ---> real quarkcoinTahitigw64l4ku0.bin So, be careful!

Hi guys! Got a question what are normal speeds on Lyra2ReV2 with a 280x? and is a optimised kernel avabl yet?

Hi, Another reminder about sgminer-related job at NiceHash. We're looking for someone to integrate sgminer into our NiceHash Miner following same principles that are valid for already included cpuminer and ccminers. You can do it as a one-time job (integration only), or accept our long-term job to maintain and develop NiceHash Miner (see here https://www.nicehash.com/index.jsp?p=jobs and here https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1220347.0). Best regards, NiceHash team

Not sure what normal speed would be, but a couple of pages back in this thread Wolf0 posted a screen shot. pretty sure he was running lyra2REV2...and on the 280x it looks like he is getting 8.6 mhs "Here's some ACTUAL stats on what's possible with Lyra2REv2. Don't worry, my screenshot won't try and run a fake svchost.exe, cause I'm not a hack Tongue https://ottrbutt.com/miner/lyra2rev2wolf-10242015-2.png"

I've been mining quark using Kachur's miner ever since the algorithm was introduced to NiceHash and would like to confirm that the infected miner you folks speak of is indeed Kachur's despite the fact that I haven't experienced any symptoms of infection.

I have .bat files to start sgminer with different .conf files and I use cgwatcher ,,
Now cgwatcher is fine with the .bat and the .conf files I can use it to change profiles
so how is it that when I close down cgwatcher and the miner and then use explorer and d click the .bat file does sgminer find a JSON decode error in the .conf file
Anyone seen this or know why ?
cheers

For what it's worth, you can use jsonlint.com to verify your .conf file.

The exefile was different in the virus version. Thanks for the quick feedback! I've read through this entire thread and no one seems to have provided any concrete proof as to whether this miner contains malicious coding so I still remain sceptical. There's a quick question I would like to ask you given you've developed CCminer although it may be a little off topic. I've got a pair of Compute Shader 1.1 capable cards, more precisely the 9800GTX & GTS250 and have had absolutely no luck getting them to work with a variety of algorithms via CC/CudaMiner besides Scrypt which is no longer a viable option. Upon launch, the miner will either instantly crash or provide a hashrate so low no shares are ever being submitted due to the GPU's relatively idle state. I was wondering if you can suggest a particular build of CC/Cudaminer and or algorithm which are compatible with these cards. I was forced to ultimately resort to SGminer and managed to yield a little over 600 Kh/s w/ LYRA2REv2. Any advice you may offer is greatly appreciated.

My fork uses instructions that are not supported by compute 1.1 cards. F.ex the Shuffle instruction, funnelshift, vector instructions etc etc. Alot of the code is written in inline PTX assembly language, so you cannot compile it down to the older models. Opencl is limited and slower. 600khs/s is a waste of power when a modern 980ti can do 18MHASH easy.

It is indeed a waste of power which fortunately is included in my rent and since I've got no alternate use for them at the moment, it's more productive then having them lying around on a shelf collecting dust instead of crypto-currencies. Anyway, thanks for dedicating your time to what was a very thorough and comprehensive response.

I feel like AMD has fallen off.. More ccminer devs or what?

wow that is so bad. I feel like AMD has fallen off.. More ccminer devs or what? It's very simple. The day when kernel contributions were first pushed out awaiting for donations have long passed by. nVidia users 'donate' in advance, for some definition of 'donation' to development of optimized kernels. When optimized, GCN can often be competitive (and hashing is not even complex enough to fully stress a GPU) but those private kernels are either kept secret or sold. So, yes, there are more devs on nV side. It's just more rewarded.

I created this to warn everyone, My partner and I bought miner from MColeman (his handle here) that was a virus, he has since hacked into my partners account here through the virus embedded in the initial virus telling people it works. I am posting this for 2 reasons. 1- I do not want anyone to go through the same thing we did 2- I am offering a large sum of money to anyone that can track this person down for me. I lack the computer skills to do this myself, but I have the funds to make this well worth your while. What happens to him after I get this information is non of you concern.
If anyone has the ability to do this and wants a large payday please let me know.

cop it sweet and let it go ... there would not be much else that can be done to this 'guy' unless you know where he lives ... and even then - a 'nice coffee a warning' wont do very much anyway ... if you get my drift ... just make sure you dont deal with ANYONE that is not a respected and long term trusted member ... it really is that simple ... #crysx
