Hi everyone,

I bought some NEM (via NXT) in summer of 2014, but then health issues struck, so I never claimed anything. Such bad luck. Sad

Can I still do anything with it?

It has been a year since people were redeeming.  If you were able to turn in your NXT token and get a NEM private key, those XEM will be waiting for you at that key.  If you didn't there isn't any chance.
Damien83, I've been summarily ignored on this same issue. They're just walking over us like roadkill. I misplaced my NXT passphrase and could not redeem NEMstake when the artificially imposed deadline for redemption went into effect. Guess what? I've located by NXT passphrase and now I'm sitting on 3.5 NEMstake!
You can read more about the scammy nature of the current 'You're too late' redemption policy here:
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1391752.msg14147046#msg14147046

They talk about how there isn't any chance to redeem, but the fact is that all 9 billion NEM that were represented by the underlying NEMstake were created in the nemesis block. Unless someone here can prove that the unredeemed coins were burned, I am declaring this currency a scam.

puh... you guys are so annoying. You really had time enough.
You misplaced it? You were just too lazy to act and search it, because it was not worth enough! And now, as the amount could go up higher you feel the greed, huh?

The coins were not burned. It was a community decision, what to do with it.

Tell that to the people all over this place that made a lot of money by being scammed.
They weren't burned. Everyone was informed multiple times what was going to happen after the deadline, and then the next deadline and then the very last deadline for the real abnoxious people. You missed all of those and have to live with that now. You can declare anything whatever you want, It'll still be your fault. Sorry.

You're entitled to accuse me of being a fair weather fan, but what I'm saying is a true story. As public evidence, I can only offer up my NXT account which has been inactive since August 2014.  You must also credit me with the fact that I was competent enough to invest in NXT, get on the NXT AE and make the NEMstake purchase. Talk about going out of my way to invest in a speculative asset...

The sudden market recognition of value conferred upon digital assets happens time and again in the crypto sphere. I actually believe that NEM has potential, hence my substantial purchase of NEMstake. I did not expect to lose my NXT passphrase. I was pretty devastated because I had lost a nice bag of NXT, with NEMstake too. I'm only doing what I can to recover lost digital assets. I still would like to know what happened to the NEM that was created from the underlying, unredeemed NEMstake. Can I get a straight answer on that one?

Sure you can. All XEM that were not redeemed have been put into funds that are being used to further develop the platform and ecosystem e.g. the mobile app that is in the final phases of testing.

I wanna take the oppotunity to point out that anyone can apply for funding for their own projects (so lang as related to NEM obviously).
Just like crypto apex did https://forum.nem.io/t/crypto-apexs-application-for-nem-community-funding/1393

I have accidently seen that Poloniex' NEM account has harvested 7-8% of all NEM blocks yet. Couldn't it lead to problems and security issues when a single account are getting this might in the network, could it?  Roll Eyes

pump over ?

As of now, it looks like both the pump and the dump are over. Ever since that "flash crash," XEM's bottomed & is crawling back up. aon, 325 satoshis.

You can declare anything whatever you want, It'll still be your fault. Sorry.
patmast3r,
If it's my fault, why are you apologizing to me?
I'm going to give you an opportunity, in the public eye, to reverse this unethical policy of defrauding investors, and make this exchange of NEMstake for NEM. I will send my 3.5 NEMstake to whatever NXT address you specify to prove that I control them. In return, you will deposit approximately 7874999 XEM to the following address:
NAH5IVPG5BI253O3ZRJMSZXHBXUGHVENP7PATMFH

It will take me about 1/2 a day to access and move the NEMstake.

Even if I wanted to I couldn't. I'm not in controll (in fact no single person is) so you're gonna have to convince a bunch of other people and I'll be honest...i don't think it's gonna happen.

Your status of Senior member says that you should have kept up at least once a month.

I had my issues with UtopianFuture at one point, but we came to an agreement.

They extended the deadline many times to make sure no one was left out. If you didn't keep up, then it's no one else's fault.

Maybe devs will reconsider but it would be unfair to everyone else that stayed up to date and this would open a whole new mess which NEM does not need right now.

The amount of times the deadline was discussed, debated, pushed back etc made it very easy to at least be aware OF a deadline in the first place. There simply is no excuse but frankly it was obvious to all that as soon NEM started seeing some semblance of value, people like yourself would come out of the woodwork.

I don't doubt that you have full control over your nemstakes, as probably nobody does here. What i do think though is it's your own fault for not at least checking on your investment.

I think it was a relatively mucky and confusing system but everything was telegraphed for a lengthy time. Imagine what the headlines will be from the forgettees in a year or so if it really starts to gain traction.

That's exactly what I'm trying to do here- to reach an agreement. Everyone has already conveniently forgotten my situation. I actually lost the paper where I had written down my NXT passphrase! I couldn't do anything with NXT or NXT assets until a month ago. NEMstake holders were among this community's earliest investors. They should be the most respected in the NEM community. Surely you must recognize that the 'deadline' is just there so that funds can be expropriated from those who have rightful claims to them to create a developer slush fund. That's fraud.

This happened in Bitcoin largely because people deleted wallets, threw away hard drives, etc. They didn't have their digital asset expropriated from them.

You have no clue. Read my posts. I could check on my NEMstake parked on the NXT blockchain all day long. Couldn't move 'em. No passphrase.

Why don't you do everyone a favor and move on.
No one is interested to hear your problems anymore.
You asked the questions and got your answer.

This is my opinion:

Maybe this is a good time to test the voting power of the NEM community and make a decision as a collective to give these people who forgot their last chance.

The option would be for a percentage of their original stake (if the funds are available), the other percentage going back to the NEM fund as a penalty for not redeeming within the allotted time range.

Maybe something along the lines of 50% given of their original stake.

It's just an idea, the community needs to decide if they are willing to do it.

I would be saying the same thing if I realized that I would be sitting on worthless assets which could have been worth over $10k but are now completely worthless because I was dumb enough to loose the key to my account (if that's even true) or dumb enough to not redeem them in time.

Instructions were clear when you first bought NEMstakes and if you are so careless with your keys or not keep up with your investments, it's your own fault and I have no sympathy.

Plus there's nothing anybody can do, even if they wanted to.
