A lot of these nodes are supernode devs (Alice) which have huge balances of 20 mill +. I see balance no longer shows which is a good thing

The Android and iOS NEM apps are beginning open public testing.  There will be a 5000 XEM reward for bugs (of which there are surely still many).  Help us get these apps launched in top shape.

Here is a repost from a few days ago.

Hi Everyone,

I have some good news about the Supernode servant. We have our first update. The biggest news now is that the bandwidth has been lowered to 5Mbps.

I have some instructions.

1) Turn off your servant. Rename your servant folder you used to boot the servant until now to “Old Servant” or something like that.

2) Go into the servant folder and find a file called config.properties. Copy this and paste it unto your desktop. Next rename this file config-user.properties. (you will need this new config-user.properties file shortly)

3) Please download the new servant from https://drive.google.com/folderview?id=0B_0Z9jDGHPxPVmdCVDFTT25CXzg&usp=sharing12

4) Unzip the folder. Open the servant folder and paste in the file you named config-user.properties.

5) Your NIS should be still running. If not, start it. And also you need to restart your servant. To start the servant double click on runservant.bat in the servant folder (In Mac or Linux navigate to the file in terminal and use the command sh startservant.sh). If it works you will see your terminal/command prompt window become active.

6) Lets now double check to see if your servant is working correctly. Please go to http:// <your supernode ip>:7880/nr/metaData, e.g. http://211.107.113.107:7880/nr/metaData4, in your browser. If everything is working okay, you can see something like
{

"application": "Servant",
"publicKey": "cd94cdcfde6878e093bc70e35b575dbe68095c69f73112e67559f71c1fb64c6e",
"version": "0.0.4-alpha"
}

7) If all went well you can now delete your old servant folder.

If you have any questions you can review the instructions at the top of this thread, or please just ask.

Thanks!

don't forget to put your nem address in the bottom :-)

I love the Japanese updates, however will NEM be a regional thing in Japan or does it still have worldwide ambitions in the long run?  Huh

I like to speculate

I don't think those articles have the same content. Either that or mynavi is real slow.

Hi,
I am pretty new to NEM and kind of a computer noob. But I managed to setup a light wallet and transfered my XEM to the wallet. I guess, for the moment I am done, no backups or what so ever?
thanks

You have the private key put aside? You need to remember which node you are attached to, always. Otherwise the account can go "missing". Private key and account address are most important.

Depending on what you chose while setting up your account with the lightwallet the password you chose may also be enough.
I'd like to clarify though that you don't have to remember your node because that's where your wallet is stored. Your wallet is stored localy. You should remember the node because local storage works on a per-domain basis. That means different domains access different parts of your local storage. As long as you have your private key, address and or the password to your brainwallet you can re-create your wallet on every node though.
