I am having a little trouble with one of my S3's. I was updating the firmware and the unit lost power during it. I have tried the reset settings with reset button but I have not been able to fix it.
With losing power during update am I now out of luck with unit where it's a hardware issue or am I just not doing reset right?

Losing power during a firmware update will brick the unit. sorry for the loss. This is why I choose not to update the firmware ever especially if it hasn't paid itself off yet.... maybe after it pays itself off I will take the risk, cause that way I won't be out the buying cost of the unit.

You might be able to send your controller into Bitmain and have them jtag flash the firmware and send it back to you?

So, two of my 6 S3+'s are back down to about 50Gh/s, this has only started since the newest firmware upgrade the day before yesterday. Prepare for others to start noticing this update causing this. Talk about new untested problems with every firmware update.

Talk about new untested problems with every firmware update. Can you flash back to the old firmware? Seems like this new firmware has a problem. Many people are complaining about low hashing rates on the new firmware.

The well established paradigm of "if it ain't broken, do not fix it" then ....Actually, I think bitmain were fixing something with the reset thingybob, now look.

Yes, this new update is supposed to fix the reset button which can be important, especially down the line so " if it ain't broke" doesn't apply because it was broke...

Yep, and going by the bits they seem to have broken, now that they fixed the reset button, I think it is time to test that feature for those who took the plunge.

What I got from bitmaintech was "After you finish the firmware, please go to "Miner Configuration-->Advanced settings" and set the frequency to default value, click "Save&Apply", all would be better."

So it seems like you need to manually set the voltage and frequency setting(s) after flashing the new firmware ..... that would perfectly explain the dropping hash-rates then ...

Yeah after all my late night fun last night I'll just stick with October's release for now. LOL Hindsight is always a wonderful thing ... and with that in mind, it looks like the first port of call for dropping hash-rates would be the freq settings, but yeah, I don't blame you for sticking with your reset firmware seeing the only officially documented change is the reset button functionality. Anyone still running the new November firmware, would you please find out what version of cgminer ships with it?

So this new firmware screws up the S3 if you're over or underclocking? Hope they get that fixed quick with the next update (and please don't screw something else up doing it). I'm guessing the problem of the new firmware might have something to do with the voltage settings... https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=883197
