I recently purchased some HYP and was looking to download the software/client.  I went to the wiki>installation and it starts with the following:

Paste this code on a shell (Unix only, or Windows with MinGW). This assumes you already have the required dependencies installed (including git).

Please help as I am ignorant.  Other than copy and paste I understand nothing.

Can't believe HYP is holding steady a increase of 40% in value.. Incredible. Now is a good time to stake, weight is at 4.5 million/billion (assumable people selling coins for the price increase).

I updated the command line, thank you for mentionning these shortcomings.

I am not 100% sure it works (I myself have some non replicable issues that no one understands), but the now command line, duplicated below, should take care of everything and use Qt5.

Code:
sudo apt-get install git build-essential libssl-dev libqrencode-dev libdb5.1-dev libdb5.1++-dev libminiupnpc-dev libminiupnpc8 && mkdir -p ~/cryptos && cd ~/cryptos && rm -rf HyperStake && git clone git://github.com/presstab/HyperStake && cd HyperStake && qmake HyperStake-qt.pro && make && ln -s ~/cryptos/HyperStake/release/HyperStake-qt ~/Desktop/HYP

ELI5 this please?
Buy now. HYP will become rarer later (not on the absolute, but relative to the demand).

Thank you David for giving what I assume are the required dependencies.  However that does not change the fact that I understand nothing and therefore have no idea what to do with the code.  I need something along the lines of "The Idiot's Guide to Installing HYP" because when it comes to computers I am ignorant.

I guess squiggie's advice is appropriate.

1. Copy command-line
2. Open terminal
3. Paste command-line and press enter
4. Go preparing a coffee, watch an episode of your favorite TV series (I recommand Century City or Real Humans)
5. Return to your computer and double-click the "HYP" shortcut

By the way: I just released HyperDigest #4 - HyperStorm.

What happens to the coins in a block if the block reaches max age of 30 days? Do those coins automatically 'refresh', or does the user have to manually send them to themselves again to reset the age back to '0'?

Preface: I have Windows 8.1, I forgot to mention this

1. Copy command-line
Is that the code you posted?

2. Open terminal
I assumed this was Command Prompt and google confirms this.

3. Paste command-line and press enter
I pasted the last code you posted into Command Prompt right after C:\Users\Me>
and received the following:
'sudo' is not recognized as an internal or external command,
operable program or batch file.

4. Go preparing a coffee, watch an episode of your favorite TV series (I recommand Century City or Real Humans)
I haven't owned a TV for many years but I'm sure there is something I can do with my time.

5. Return to your computer and double-click the "HYP" shortcut

TY.  I downloaded it and even though It was a compressed folder I didn't extract it as I didn't know where would be appropriate but instead followed your instructions and "just" double clicked it.  The wallet opened up and it's currently syncing.  There is no desktop icon.  After it finishes syncing should I extract it somewhere?  Will that give me a desktop icon?

Thank you all for your patience.

Cool! You can extract that exe to your desktop. And also if you want themes to work, then download the themes folder and extract it to the desktop too.

Don't sweat it.

It's an estimate, and usually wrong. That's not a coding error, it's just the nature of staking. It gives you it's best guess based on current network conditions. As long as the block is still gaining weight, you're ok.

I have coins in my wallet Smiley Cheesy Grin

The syncing got stuck a few times near the end, after 75%.  I got it unstuck by closing and reopening the wallet.

What would it take to get HYP listed on Bittrex? It would be a pleasure for me, as I do most of my transactions there.
They're right here in Las Vegas, I'll go over and ask personally if it would help. Can't hurt being on another big exchange  Smiley

I contacted Bittrex two days ago with a long mail. If they are in Las Vegas, this means we could do something about the HYPcon to share costs...
