I've already gotten my money back (in dollars that is) a long time ago on everything except for the Cube which just showed up the other day so ROI isn't an issue. I mine more than my electricity costs so therefore I'm happy with it.

I find all the ASIC equipment fascinating and enjoy trying to get my hands on as many different devices as possible.

That's your opinion. Mining is a long term investment - BTC price goes up, so the more you can mine now the more you can save for when BTC is worth $2000 (or perhaps $10k).

That's your opinion. Mining is a long term investment - BTC price goes up, so the more you can mine now the more you can save for when BTC is worth $2000 (or perhaps $10k). You can't use that as an argument though, because if your entire plan is based on BTC increasing in value just outright buying BTC is guaranteed to make more money than buying (for BTC or FIAT) a miner that will never earn it's value in BTC back as BTC. Not disagreeing at all, and I mine, but it's a lousy argument. He's certainly not costing himself money on electricity, not by a long shot right now. Pretty funny though, seeing someone say that.

I think some of those devices might become VERY valuable as collectibles. I bough one of the first BE USB at 2.6 BTC!!! and one of the first RF USB for 1.4 BTC!!!, because just like stamps with defects, collectors will look at the soldering of components to see the rarity and age of the item, funny how that resonates well with the 21 million rarity! My zTex x1.15 will be the crown jewels of the collection. Early and very rare: Interesting to compare those purchase prices with the 600GH Monarch I bought for 3.6 BTC, I'm pretty convinced that including resale collectors value; the poorly soldered, completely non ROI, crap BE will beat the Monarch hands down; those components are placed by hand and I even got friedcat to send me an original "manually tooled" heatsink from hongkong: Comparatively the singles will fade away in history (except maybe for the case looking cool but being completely unusable) but they heat the house and feed the monkeys:

2x V1 Blades, 1x Cube, 1x Jalapeno, 1x Intel NUC in TranqilPC passive case, TPLink switch, Corsair CX750 PSU, old Dell PSU driving the Cube. Cube has the fan bolted to the outside due to a few added 10000uF caps to make the thing actually work. Not pictured is the other Jalapeno, and a Block Erupter which are hanging off a TPLink router running OpenWRT. I'm also waiting for a couple of NanoFurys to arrive.

My third guetto machine 900Khash extra Now going at a measly 2400khash with my 3 rigs. Not much, but all is always paid for and it's a fun little extra.

My setup has grown pretty crazily since I got my first miners in late November... First, the main mining area: Here we have 2 Jalapeños (running at 7 and 8 GH/s) along with 2 larger BFL units (running at 55 and 58GH/s) This is all plugged in to a USB hub, along with 2 Block Eruptors going into a Surface Pro. Let's start off and LOL at the fact that as of that picture I didn't realize the end-ports on that hub were power-only, no data, so the Eruptors weren't actually mining. The Surface Pro is going to be replaced by a Raspberry Pi that I was using when I was still mining in my office. Sadly I don't have a WiFi adapter for it yet so when I moved the mine downstairs as I added hardware (due to noise) I had to swap it out temporarily. It'll be back to running things once I get it WiFi-enabled after the holidays. Then the latest addition, back up in my office: ASICMiner Cube running at 38GH/s, connected to a Corsair AX860i. Upcoming changes: One of the Jalapeños has just been sold off and shipped today, to be replaced by 2 more Cubes that should be arriving today / tomorrow! From 15GH/s to approx 150GH/s (soon to be ~200GH/s after I get those cubes) in 6 weeks... Yeah...this is going to be an expensive hobby And no, I'm not worried at all about making my money back from all of this or hearing how I'm wasting money.

The flower heatsinks are zalman northbridge sinks, but the zTex are now obsolete and only give 200MH at 40W/GH. The BE gives 330MH, RF 2.5GH and my two singles 110GH.
