What are the outer dimensions of that case?  What are the chances that it fits in a standard 19" rack?  Another idea would be to add removable rack mounting "lips" on the front.

This case is 500mm x 500mm x 250mm. Plus nut heads which are 3mm. Same design could be made a bit smaller in theory. Probably could squeeze it to h 460mm x d 400mm x w 220mm without compromising temperatures.

Can I ask about the USB WiFI card?  Can you not place it close to a wired connection?

thats are real bitcoin asic miners! (first i tought it just normal servers, but no, it is asic miners!)

3M produced liquid cooling for the asics, the complete asic blades are put into some special 3M
cooling liquid!

I'm shocked that they'd choose the 3M liquid (Novec 7000 Engineered Fluid, 1-methoxyheptafluoropropane). It is at least 100 times more expensive than using a light oil. And even that is far more expensive than if they reduced the physical packing density of the miners and air cooled them like in any conventional datacenter with ambient/evaporative cooling. So I'm surprised to see them claim that their reduce floor space (and saving on rent) is the more economical option. Especially since the entire 'mine' will be irrelevantly inefficient within 12 months and won't be worth the electricity bill. Good for them though, the rest of us can only dream of having that kind of capital.

Assembled some BFL based Chilis into cases for eBay, sorry I don't have a better camera o.O surprisingly decent temps considering the shitty orientation of the boards.

They are in hong kong, and not mainland china. I think rent saving is a big issue there... Also with evaporative cooling you could get away with higher overclock levels. The company that built this sort off specializes in evaporative cooling... so they probably have some cozy relationship with 3M... Also i doubt if asicminer will mine with those chips forever... when their next gen chips are made... they will simply sell these old boards overpriced and replace the datacenter with the new ones.

Currently this miner is on base floor wheres no wired connection available. Thats why i added wifi.

You should better count with 450 KH/s (WU), but if You can´t get or afford anything better and the electricity is not big deal, It will be OK. You still can sell them in the future and buy something better. Look at my sig - its with what I am mining. Sad is that even that I can afford better mining equipment, there is nothing available in my country atm

This is the 4 chip+1 dead chip "Danger Jally with a much... bigger... cooler. 5 chips of heat.

Temps went from 80c with the stock fan down to 38c and holding. Now wait till I get water cooling. :-)

Note: You do have to do a bit of stuff. First you need to bevel the edges so it will not touch the caps right around the chips. Then you need to drill and tap two new holes, try to center it as much as possible so you don't hit one of the heat pipes with the drill.

But man, this solves the heat problem. I'll try taking this one up to seven chips as soon as I get the little heat sinks for the FETs.

GPU: 2 x Sapphire Vapor-X 280x
       3 x Sapphire 7950 (2 x Boost & 1 regular)
PSU: XFX 850 W (2 cards + MB) & Corsair 1000 W (3 cards)
MB: MSI Z77A-GD65
CPU: Intel G2020
RAM: 8GB
OS: BAMT 1.2 on a 8GB USB stick

Ordered unpowered risers and made them all powered so all are running powered risers, PSU's are connected with add2psu.

Made some clocking but not finished yet, will change the 280x to I:13 and run G:2, still looking for a good configuration for the 7950. Also having problems with lowering voltage on all cards.

there is another 280x card on the way that will join the setup.

Watercooled, huh? I may be of assistance!

I have a scrapped waterblock like this that I made, but when I was using a slitting saw to make the "fins" I ran it too hot and it folded a few fins over. Ought to work fine still, just not 100% and it's nothing but scrap to me. If you get me a hole pattern, I can waterjet a new mounting bracket.



Ought to be super easy to mod this thing to fit. You'll need to do some lapping though, I refuse to do any more than I absolutely have to lol
