Hi wtfc360 - fixing the wallet/re-target is next. Until we have smooth fast transactions again (all the time) with no low diff mining bonanza we can't move forward.

I will update when I have advice from press at PressTab and his colleagues.

Got your mssg - thanks for your extra trouble and we all greatly appreciate your contribution to the UTC rebirthing.

The phoenix has got off the ground soon to soar skyward.

Cheers - usukan.

Great work with the UTC block explorer, check!
Whats next in priority and how much do we need to donate to get it fixed?

RE - ANNOUNCING

The Ultracoin Contest

(new and improved thanks to the generosity of PaulR1)

Just for fun - lets have a contest!

Its like this............

Guess the day that UTC hits 2000 ea (0.00002 BTC per UTC) - on Bittrex

Win 25,000 UTC = 50 million Satoshi = 0.5 BTC

Guesses in UTC time of course. UTC = Coordinated Universal Time.

Guesses must be date/hour/minute in UTC time.

Only 1 (one) "guess" per registered forum member.

No votes after price hits 1500 (0.000015 BTC per UTC).  I will call the cut off time on this forum to avoid any unnecessary confusion.

The closest guess wins.

To claim - just re-post your guess on this forum when you think you have won. Include your UTC deposit address.  If you don't claim (re-post your guess) - you won't be considered for the prize.

I will check claims and make plump the wallet of the winner from the UTC pot funds.

Discussion not entered into and my decision will be final. Trolls excluded from entry.  Those are the terms and conditions that you accept on entry.

May the best guess win.

Cheers - usukan

Emerge reports that hes trying to work on this (Android/IOS wallets) about 4 days a week but hes pretty busy on other things.

Its a bit more work than he first anticipated but he says that things are progressing and it should be ready soon.

So ETA may be a couple of weeks is my current guess.

Thanks Emerge for your work on this project - we all appreciate this massive contribution to Ultracoin.

Cheers - usukan

@ wtfc360

your contribution to the block explorer project came in and all confirmed.

https://blockchain.info/address/1GkVDYMvSoEEnG6NnM1KkLmdiy3aF9P44E

Sincere thanks from all of us here wtfc360.

I will deduct costs (less my 25% contribution also) for the project from this pot and move the surplus funds to another dedicated address that I will post here (a more secure wallet since we have unexpectedly accumulated significant funds due to Pauls generosity).

That Address will be the new Dev fund Pot and will be fully transparent to the community for any transactions.

Cheers - usukan

Just to advise that I have moved the UTC Development funds to a more secure wallet (I don't trust phone wallets for more than $100 and never expected to have a surplus on this project funding)

The new BTC address for the UTC Dev Fund is:
1LpFmfieMBH63ivFA1Us5ju1jnH9CSccKZ
https://blockchain.info/address/1LpFmfieMBH63ivFA1Us5ju1jnH9CSccKZ

This address holds 0.3708192 BTC - which is the surplus mainly from Paul's donation and wtfc360 whose contribution was slightly over 0.089 BTC

I have refunded myself the value of the other contributions made to the project of approx 3 x 0.089 BTC ea equalling 75% of the project cost (since I paid the full cost of 0.356728 BTC to PressTab upfront). I have factored my contribution at 25%.

https://blockchain.info/address/1Muph59SPMP61b5tyyLyK5W8Rnb6WNFrH7

Cheers - usukan

this is the accounting if you are interested:

UTC Dev Pot (BTC)   Transactions   note

Block Explorer cost   0.3567280   Paid by usukan 100% initially

PaulR1 contribution   0.4500000   from deposit
Roister01 contribution   0.0888000   from deposit
wtfc360 contribution   0.0997472   from deposit
usukan contribution   0.0890000   from initial PressTab purchase transaction

Total contributions   0.7275472

Less costs - block explorer   0.3567280

UTC Pot Surplus   0.3708192   sent to 1LpFmfieMBH63ivFA1Us5ju1jnH9CSccKZ

Previous Balance in UTC Pot address   0.6385472   1GkVDYMvSoEEnG6NnM1KkLmdiy3aF9P44E

Less Pot Surplus   0.3708192

usukan reimbursed 75%   0.2677280   1Muph59SPMP61b5tyyLyK5W8Rnb6WNFrH7
usukan contribution 25%   0.0890000   from initial purchase transaction
= Block Explorer cost 100%   0.3567280   cross check = correct

Update - diff re-target/wallet fixes

Progress towards wallet/re-target fix.

"press" at PressTab has advised that he can definitely assist us with this.  He is busy for the next week - but after that we can discuss options and costs in detail - and maybe start work if we can get the needed contributions from the community.

We may need somebody from the UTC community to answer any tech questions that press may have.

There are two scenarios that we need to consider:

1 - just fix the retarget for now OR
2 - Update the full wallet (UTC is fairly old code (read: ancient) and many optimizations and fixes that were implemented in BTC have never been ported over comment Fuzzbawls) and fix the retargetting.

Of course cost will be important - so I have asked press for costs on scenarios 1 & 2 so I can go back to the community for consensus and raise funds.

So by the end of the month we hope to have some solid progress on these fixes for UTC.

Cheers - usukan

You would be rightfully annoyed if you had sold off from 300-600 recently

and I think the situation may become even more anguishing over the next few weeks and months for impatient sellers.....

But who knows (no doubt we will have a few problems along the way) - we need to deliver the goods and thats our undivided focus for now.

Of course the other thing that may propel UTC and other ALTs over the next few months are the troubles with BTC - many are thinking its best to be out of BTC for a while because its likely to drop significantly.  People are looking for places to go to get out of BTC.  Its a good time to present UTC as a viable alternative investment.

Hi Roister

some details on PressTab range of skills and specialities.

https://angel.co/presstab_crypto

http://bitcoinist.net/interview-presstab-pos-vulnerabilities/

Seems there are many coins that he has worked on successfully in a range of areas. Comes up on many coins and discussions on Google Search.  Fixing up the UTC wallet and re-targeting is directly within his key skill set areas - and hes a tried, tested and proven capability.  Trusted by many coins.

When I think back to all the time we have spent mucking around with devs learning on the job - when we could have just done things properly the first time - think were we could be now (usukan breaks out in cold sweat and shakes)

No going back on things - just we need to move forward one SOLID step at a time from this new starting point only a week ago.

I sure hope PressTabs costs are acceptable.

press also advises that the block explorer - rather the "Ultracoin Dashboard" should be up tomorrow.

Cheers - usukan

Good point there Bob...

Usukan, does the presstab deal sort that out, or is it something we need to do?
How would this be done?

Hi Usukan,

Nice one, looking forward to seeing how the 'dashboard' looks, tomorrow!

Just been looking over Presstab info...seems a clever sort! As you say, hope costs are reasonable, but would save so much aggro/hassle if we could afford to use him. Did make me wonder though, with his take on the 'timedrift parameter'...rather concerning. I wondered, would it be worth asking anyone on here who understands the technical issues, to discuss issues on here that need to be addressed BEFORE we ask Presstab to sort it out, so we have a consensus before we start. Think it will help to maintain unity further down the line if everyone has their say now...

Cheers,

Roister and Bob

To fix - I just contact coinmarket cap and advise them to change their link to the PressTab block explorer

This will fix their link and they will need to use updated data from PressTab API for their stats in the future - esp Available Supply which will affect market cap since I think coinmarket cap is under-reporting coin supply from the unsynced Ultrabex.

Cheers - usukan

Hi Roister

what I take from this is:

http://bitcoinist.net/interview-presstab-pos-vulnerabilities/

That if the UTC staking/timedrift parameter makes us vulnerable to a timewarp attack - we should get that code fixed by PressTab.  He is an expert in this area so it should be quite straightforward.

Other comments from tech community members please.

Thanks - usukan

Dear all,

Maybe I'll tell my opinion too quickly now, if that is so I like to hear everybody’s thoughts …

UTC is getting back on track (or it looks like it).
UTC is on his revival.
The Phoenix is arisen and alive again !

But, In my honest opinion, the largest “callers” from the past are very quiet at this moment ...

Only a very select few community members are very active at this moment, they  give a lot positive input of ideas and plans and donate also financial contributions.
So this select group gives 100% help and input of ideas for the whole community.

UTC is there for and by its members and the community. We have to do it together. Onley then UTC can get big "again".

What I try to say to everybody, with all due respect, please give more input, ideas and help to the “interim” Dev-team where ever you can.

They need everybody’s help and enthusiasm to go on strong for UTC !

Warm greetings,
Paul

The more often we see the things around us - even the beautiful and wonderful things - the more they become invisible to us. That is why we have to open our eyes and don’t take this beautiful and wonderful things for granted in the beauty of this world….
