I'm kind of expecting 0.01 BTC right now And kind of getting into deep thoughts about XMR actually replacing BTC in 4-5 years 4-5 years is such a long time that it might actually occur that people start using bitcoin as an alternative currency to Monero. How would the cryptoverse look like if this happens?

However, I am pretty confident some demand will be coming from there.
Think so too, vendors might ask a risk-premium when customers want to use btc... if buying with xmr would become cheaper... best regards

...getting into deep thoughts about XMR actually replacing BTC in 4-5 years
Why, in the name of all that is holy, would anyone use bitcoin and expose themselves to extortionists, kidnappers, and thieves (governmental, NGO, and freelancers), when an alternative exists? XMR is now the single most liquid alternative. The market, through the mechanism of price, will act to insure that there is enough liquidity to meet demand.

Even when Zcash arrives I'd distrust it as a long-term store of value, because of the setup issue (an irresistible temptation for TPTB). Monero (plus a Lightning Network layer and a Zerocash or Mimblewimble sidechain perhaps) will be the best trade-off between privacy, scalability, and decentralization.

The game is about how many you own and can keep in your possession. If you own 1000 BTC, you are well positioned, but it is expensive to gain that position if you start now. If you owned 1000 BTC five years ago, it is equally good as 1000 BTC now, only if you have managed to keep it from theft, hack, taxman, your own mistakes in storage, and most importantly from your urge to sell.
Many reading this have 1000 XMR, or even much more. In five years, or less, it might have equal value as 1000 BTC now. Statistically, an extremely small fraction of people manage to do it, though.
I believe it's prudent to budget in advance that half of the remaining coins are lost, every time the price rises x10. So the ones who wish to have the coveted 1000 XMR when the price hits $5k, should buy 10k now.
Hmm... it seems that XMR is more mature now than BTC when I heard of it. It has 50 times higher market cap as well...
I like this strategy. Lot of people might say "SELL NOW", price may go down, which is certainly a probable outcome. As for me, I decided I want to have X amount of Monero and I try to adhere around that number. There was a brief time I played the sell because I thought it would go lower, then ended up buying back higher, then the price went lower...personally I don't want that stress and it causes me to make bad decisions. This is the opposite advice some people would give you (don't get attached to any asset, etc). I think you can get attached as long as you ensure the decision is right for you.

I'm curious how a currency like XMR is allowed to trade on Polo. How can they comply with KYC and AML given the fundamentals of XMR?

Its not usable transactionally either from my PoV: The implementors are not to be trusted.

There is no legal tender involved.

Just recently someone said in the trollbox that already 12 vendors at Alphabay are about to take Monero payments... Because it is a trollbox, I'd like to know if somebody has any information is it true or just B.S. Also, it would be nice to follow how wide is the Monero adaption among D.N.M. in general so if someone is more specialized to those would you care to give some additional & factual info.

I bought my first batch of XMR two years ago, around .005 BTC. I really wasn't sure if it would ever get to that price again, as the crypto community seemed to continually pass it up for inferior coins, like Dash. Now, here we are.
XMR "feels" like BTC circa 2012-13. People are taking notice. The advantages of Monero over any other currency are now being recognized by the wider community. Soon, they'll be utilized. Usage, speculation, the ecosystem, and the price are likely to grow ever faster.

I heard something similar on reddit. I'd imagine anyone using tor and BTC is already somewhat tech savvy. The barriers to entry for monero, i.e lack of official GUI wallet, lack of direct USD-XMR trading, shouldn't be too big of a hurdle for D.N.M. users.

I signed up and made a search for who accepts monero. Got 70 pages of results and browsed through the first 8 pages.. counted 30+ vendors just there so probably a lot more. Not sure if there's a better way to check these stats.

Sure tomorrow you might be able to buy 10-20% cheaper with some probability but also if the shorters are hunting for dumps there may not be chance of getting any meaningful amount of coins for cheaper price. Anyway, this pump haven't affected my position, I might buy some more actually (which is insignificiant considering the size of my overall stash) to support the price, after all there are takers to my coins in the future most likely.

Deepdotweb does not even have an update on how widely Monero is adopted yet but they probably will. I think you would have to do your own research (join the markets for a look see) to get the answers.

I'm with you on this similar timeframe and circumstances. If nothing else we have seen whats possible with a bit of potential adoption and raising the profile. Pump or not. Here's to the future. Shame I diversified 1 BTC out a few months back, still I wouldn't be saying that if it went to 0 and that's Ristos point really isn't it.
