Apparently he has returned.

Yup, thats what it looks like to me as well. Cheesy
Me too - I guess he is still a butthurt Darkcoiner?

Market cap has collapsed for them, I guess they know it's over for Darkcoin / Dash / Masternode scamcoin or whatever that crook calls it now.

I can't be bothered to look back in the rear view mirror - but has it slipped out of the top 20 market cap yet?

I haven't looked but i think it's being delisted at Polo, not that that exchange matters for anything anymore. Cheesy

While Dash is being actively used in every day lifel.
Not convinced. Number of Dash txs not that much bigger than number of Monero txs, to claim some sort of wide spread everyday usage.

And talking about people in Venezuela, I think they would much prefer something not traceable. And something that is best in its category and also work out of the box.

#18 ATM. It's been steadily declining though. I'd anticipate it being out of the top 20 by the end of the year for sure.

Even if true, which I doubt, wait until they start getting targeted.

Try again, Dash tx count is significantly larger than Monero. Always at least double or triple with some periods completely blowing Monero out of the water. Get your facts straight.

I believe on Tuesday 3rd September we will finally get daily inflation crossover day with Bitcoin.  Monero yearly emission inflation will go under Bitcoins that is at  3.67%    Big day ahead.

While Dash is being actively used in every day life by communities that really need it the most in these times like Venezuela, Colombia, Brazil.

This hype has been debunked repeatedly. Most recently

“We’ve been accepting dash for two years. We currently haven’t received any clients using dash to pay for their events. They’d rather use bolivares or dollars,” she said.

...

Los Costilla, a popular, dash-friendly restaurant, is one example. A representative told CoinDesk they haven’t accepted any type of cryptocurrency for over a year.

Sure, and that's what I was talking about. 2-3 times is not that bigger to claim some sort of next level usage. And by the way, if you mention "some periods", don't forget to mention some other periods even in last 3-6 months, where dash and xmr txs were identical numerous times.

Lets have some facts here about referred Coindesk article :

* Writer of that article broke off contact with regards to fact checking with Dash Core Team and failed to re-establish contact before posting this article. This is highly unresponsible journalistic behaviour.
* Writer had to do two seperate rather embarressing corrections on the article after publication.
* Writer failed to support their article with any facts that Dash is not the most used crypto in Venezuela, writer just quoted a few local sources and then made the rather unsupported personal opinion
that because of these local sources Dash may not be the most used crypto in Venezuela. Writer does not state which according to her (or to any investigation) then is the most used crytocurrency in Venezuela.

The thing that really surprised me is seeing how one of Coindesk's local source is quoted saying they rather use bolivares, when we all know about the hyperinflation, which is making those same bolivares totally wearthless.
Those bolivares are these days littering the gutters of the streets in Venezuela and people are actually making baskets / purses out of bolivares, because it lost any monetary value.

Venezuela's currency is worth so little that artisans are making purses out of it
https://www.miamiherald.com/news/nation-world/world/americas/venezuela/article213372814.html

This of course makes Coindesk's "local sources" in this article rather questionable.

Lets have some facts here about referred Coindesk article :

I'm no fan of Coindesk's reliability generally but I've seen MANY instances of the Dash Venezuela usage hype being debunked including many times on twitter when it comes up and people who appear to be genuine ordinary Venezuelans saying the exact same thing that Coindesk did: that no one uses it, that merchants which theoretically support it generally don't even know how to accept a Dash payment and nor do they ever encounter real people paying with Dash, that total crypto usage is very small, and those who do use crypto mostly use Bitcoin.

Believe what you like or do homework.

I rather believe in hard facts or in a thorough investigation, then rely on twitter posts in a time where everyone has an opinion and are using twitter to express themself
(just look at how much "facts-value" comes out of the twitter account of a certain American president).

Anyways, enough with the off topic here. Lets get you guys back on the Monero rails.

Okay where is the thorough investigation to support the claim that was made here:

While Dash is being actively used in every day life by communities that really need it the most in these times like Venezuela, Colombia, Brazil

It doesn't exist because that claim is a crock of shit.

Nobody is claiming Monero is being actively used in every day life. Score one for lack of nonsense claims at least. Not that it is really helping the price these days.

I bought a bunch a 0.0102 and was happy with that.

Currently 0.01017 at Poloniex. I fear if we break 0.01, then 0.007 wont be far behind.

Okay! Job done. We can go back up now..... please!

As someone who uses XMR GUI on the Mac, I find it fast, fungible, reliable and a serious alternative to Bitcoin in terms of trustless cash. So why do people value it so little?

I don't get it myself. I'm one of the least knowledgeable people (not trying to simply be humble, I seriously only know how to the simplest things with crypto) but of all the privacy coins, Monero's the one most straightforward to use, and the easiest to find merchants to use it for. And most important to me is one thing you said: serious. Many other coins are either trying to be my buddy with witty devs on Twitter, or trying to hipsterify their coin in Venezuela.
