Greed is the downfall of a lot of companies. Its a shame since bitmain will forever have a piece of bitcoin mining history by setting the standard of no 6 month preorders with the bitmain S1. I feel like after the S1 and possibly the S2 is when they started to get greedy and let the ROI fall out of the customers hands. What they did with UMISOO in December really pissed me off since it made ROI impossible when they cut the price by releasing a ton of more shares without a headsup at a very low price.

If you compare BitMain to any other Mining company; They are the only ones without any real Pre-orders (I don't count waiting a bit for S2 / S3 / S4 / S5).
Yes L1 was fail, but it was for scrypt and I feel they adequately compensated those who pre-ordered.
I think there have been issues at times: coupons could have been and still could be done better; customer service with S2's was terrible, batch 1 S3's had issues, and batch 1-2 S4's PSU was bad. U3's yes those are just fail.
IMO the S5 is as solid as the S1 was a year prior. IMO the S5 is much better than the SP20. I

what a price if I am doing the math right currently it is .0014969 per ghash, that is .0006 higher than S4 per ghash. Seems pretty expensive, ill wait for people to sell their shares and when they're low to snag some.
I was waiting for post like this. It looks like S5 is overpriced.. S4 price looks better.. Can someone correct me?

Show us such a comparison with ASICMiner then.

Wow, performance has sucked the past 24 hours or so, I'm pretty well in the negatives. It will even out obviously, but it's kind of surprising.

You whiny bitches are really pissing me off, lol. The price can only go so low before Bitmain stops making a profit. This isn't a charity nor a communist organization. Profit keeps companies alive. So don't ever expect a company to sell products below their cost to manufacturer. An S5 (or whatever) costs X dollars to produce. And just because the price of BTC is down or the difficulty is up, doesn't mean that they can continue to reduce the cost of mining gear. It was inevitable that it would get to this point. As Jesse Pinkman would say... "It's economics, bitch!"

Corollary: Don't wonder why the peasants are sharpening their pitchforks and lighting their torches when pricing is increased. Mining gear should never, EVER, become more expensive to buy new, the longer it is out.

Simple.

Show us such a comparison with ASICMiner then. I consider the gen 1 Prismas to have been a preorder because they took so long to ship; and when they did ... Hoping AM will redeem themselves on their next offering with the new chips. I do think it is important to consider than AM has been selling miners for ~ 9 months longer than BitMain. I got a bunch of their block erupters a few months before BFL managed to deliver my preorder jalapenos. With the AM equipment I would say Gen 1 blades were good, usb erupters were good, gen 2 blades with or without backplane were good, cubes I'm not sure I didn't buy one, and Prismas were epic fail.

You can always keep one miner going just for fun lol i busted up laughing so hard core, keep one miner going what is that even going to do, i understand will be just for fun to say keep the hobby going but for real even if running like s4 or s5 after a while that 1 machine running might just be sad cause it is not doing anything or be burning more energy than its worth
