BAN "Giveaway" Promotion Scam to Fake Users & stolen mining equipment.

**Unfortunately there are a few BAN Shills/Trolls (instahater, bbeesley, fire000 & Phwner) who have taken it upon themselves to flood this thread with crap, just hit ignore - it makes the thread much more readable  **

So, I and a few others started getting suspicious when BAN (BitcoinAffiliateNetwork) were awarding most of their S3 "givaways" to unused or brand new accounts that were obviously fake, so I started asking questions. I was then attacked by no end of shill accounts on their thread, which made me even more suspicious, so continued to ask questions directly at the pool operator, s0br. He ignored & evaded every single question, even when online, until today - when he started deleting every post by me and anyone else asking for information about the fake accounts that "won" the miners. He has now locked the thread.
The admin of the thread, ThePhwner, was also caught red handed uploading pictures of a S3 he "won" (yes, a pool admin) that were obviously fake.

I urge every miner to use extreme caution with this pool until they explain their actions & the many fake user accounts connected with the pool & it's admin.

I believe if you look at the timeline, he won the miner before he became an admin.  I see nothing wrong with an avid user of the pool stepping in and offering to help others by becoming an admin

Thanks for the advice...and it is sage.   I for one have been mining at the pool since a couple of weeks since it's inception and I have to say that s0br has always been very responsive and has made good on any legitimate issue I have brought to his attention

once the pool got popular and he started getting busier and didn't have the bandwidth to pay personal attention to every little request he stepped up and got some administrative assistance so he could focus on running the pool

so far, I have to say this pool is doing what I really want from a pool.  Paying me.  The giveaways are fun, but I don't rate the pool on this, I rate it on whether I am getting paid what I should be and this pool has done that and more.

Frankly, I'm surprised the scam accusation didn't come earlier, but it was bound to happen sooner or later I suppose. There were definitely some major issues that needed to be talked about. s0br only has himself to blame of course, he had ample opportunity to address the concerns & answer questions, but chose not to repeatedly.  Deleting posts then locking his own pool thread was a ridiculous thing to do, it not only arouses more suspicions, but it also makes him look guilty of trying to hide something. For a pool that describes itself as transparent - this is very strange behavior indeed, especially when he had many opportunities to answer questions but either ignored them or diverted the conversation onto something else.

I too look forward to s0br coming on this thread - but have a feeling he won't.  If he chooses not to, then we will all know the truth I guess.

The proof is all in the BAN thread, including the two pics that Phawner uploaded claiming them to be the same miner he "won" - even though they were pictures of two completely different units with completely different labels on them, which was pointed out the very moment he did it. That's if s0br didn't delete them of course, but everything is mirrored. The brand new & fake accounts belonging to the "winners" are also freely viewable......or were, I haven't checked today.....

As I have stated before, this post was moved to the scam thread by a moderator. I was hoping to get s0br to finally answer the questions I and others have asked repeatedly, but it seems the admin & his shills would rather post childish pictures or obscenities instead. I don't want to lock this thread and start a moderated thread for s0br only just yet, as there are still a couple more shills to show their faces, but if I can't get a single bit of sense out of the pool admin - I might have to do it sooner rather than later.

I expected better from a pool operator & his admin, and am a little disappointed that they have chosen the childish route instead of making an effort to clear their names - it gives other good, honest & hard working pool operators a bad name, as well as Bitcoin in general.

When there are a lot of newbie accounts winning prizes it is almost certain there is some kind of scam going on (or anytime a lot of newbie accounts are involved). Remember that it takes very little effort to create a new account and there is no limit as to how many accounts someone can control.

Most games have certain terms that limit the entrants to people who are not a newbie to prevent this kind of manulipation

The initial shipment of S3's to the pool owner was posted, and winners received tracking #'s for their individual shipments. That list was not posted out of respect for privacy. I posted my tracking #, proof of delivery, and everything else, and was accused of faking photos, etc, etc. Which would be fine... if there was anything to substantiate it other than "the proof is in the other thread." For example if you're going to insist someone has faked a photo, you need to be able to back that up.

No one's hidden anything and the accusers have refused to do anything but point fingers and speculate.

We have always been willing to discuss actual facts.

Myself and the pool owner have not been hiding, not refused to answer any questions, not refused to disclose anything, and have provided ample proof of our actions, and been 100% transparent with what we have been doing.

For there to be a scam, someone needs to have put up money and been taken for it. Some sort of theft, loss, etc. None of the accusers mine at our pool, nor did they invest any money, or anything else. There was no fee to enter the S3 contest and anyone who didn't win was no worse off than they were on July 31st. At this point this has gone to such a level that there is a burden of proof on the accusers, something concrete, something cohesive, something based in facts.

EDIT: In fact the pool is 0% fee.

It's not that the accusers don't get answers, they get answers they don't like. And s0br hasn't been missing, when he responds, he doesn't say exactly what the accusers want him to, which becomes more "lying, scam, hiding Elvis, etc." And when it became clear that logic and reason didn't factor into the accusers' game, that's when we all kind of started treating these threads like a joke. The accuser can't even follow the appropriate format for a scam accusation because there's nothing there to support it.

So, once again, I am asking for your proof. We've provided above normal payouts, public statistics, 24 hour tech support, payment resolution, and as much data as we can around our giveaway. You've provided nothing but a convoluted string of thoughts on this forum and made accusations with nothing behind them except more stuff from this forum.

Here's the thing: if you'd rather judge a pool by a contest you didn't win than PPS payouts as often as hourly, then you're probably better off using multiple addresses to do Publisher's Clearing House entries. And good luck with that. Maybe you can hire that photo forensics expert.

Lol he just linked p2 pool to the down outright bs and fud that taken place and where this is from As it funny he pops up in the ban thread when you are around and NOT when you are not there as can again be seen in the ban thread as well as the other user I put in BOLD in cathoderay    Just reported this fud thread just as heads up I am sure if the mods do a bit of research on this thread and the official BAN thread in the btc pools they will notice something and it really stands out   That the p2 pool have been attacking and fud BAN mining pool for well over 4-6 weeks on baseless claims etc by matching ip and and user names and will also be able to see the fud and down right baseless claims these users have been  making in that time frame and who the TRUE USER is behind this really ID and hopefully deal with the problem.    Also look into the other really id I am sure they will find a common user that been a pest for over a month plus  now  and hopefully also get there non hidden account as well which is connect to the p2 pool

PS it not a good look for the P2 pool to be attacking other pools as these users have been for weeks just saying.... This thread was moved from the pools thread to the scam thread by moderators. I posted it in the pools thread in the hope that the people involved would see sense & try and explain their actions instead of continuing to ignore every question. They didn't. This will be the last post.


OK, it has become clear that sobr, the owner of BAN (BitcoinAffiliateNetwork) mining pool has absolutely no intention of showing his face on this thread to challenge the allegations of many S3 winners being fake accounts owned by the pool, fake photos being uploaded by his admin (ThePhwner), lies told to everyone by Phwner as to s0brs whereabouts when he supposedly "disappeared" or the insulting & threatening behavior by the admin including via PM to users who asked questions or needed help, some examples of which I will list below. I and other forum members asked s0br time and time again for answers & explanations, but were constantly either ignored or told by Phwner or his shills that "s0br has already answered that", when in fact the only answers we had got were "it's already been answered" - even though none had! A vicious circle. Those questions were:

1)  Does it not concern you that the pool admin, employed by you, uploads fake pictures claiming them to be a delivered unit when it obviously wasn't? If not, why not? And why would he do that?

2)  Does it also not concern you that the same pool admin, employed by you, lied to everyone here by saying that you had no internet due to adverse weather conditions (at the exact same time as the S3 drawing "fix" debacle) - when it was obvious to everyone that this was not the case, as you were indeed online. If not, why not?

3)  Why have you shipped much less than a third of the miners you promised you would since the beginning of your promotion over a month & a half ago?

4)  Why do you continue to advertise your promotion in your pool thread header, knowing that it is completely false/finished.

5)  You claim to be a transparent pool, but you consistently refuse to answer any  questions that have been asked on multiple occasions by multiple members regarding your "promotion". Why? What has happened to that transparency?

6)  There is only one possible source from where the fake posters with fake pics of fake "delivered miners won" come from & why. Either you address & discuss the concerns of the members here, or forever be known as a liar, faker & con-artist that you are shown to be by the overwhelming evidence available on this thread. Until you do so, like any half decent pool operator would, I'm sure the scam accusations will continue for the foreseeable future - it's entirely up to you weather that happens or not though. Answer the questions & clear your name, preferably with evidence, or don't.

There came a point when I managed to catch s0br online - so asked him face to face to answer the questions one at a time, so as to make everything completely clear and transparent for everyone to see:

Shortly after disappearing s0br began deleting as much evidence from his thread as he could of the fake winners, refusal to answer questions, etc before looking his own pool thread - hardly the acts of a transparent, innocent man.

where Phwner said s0br was offline due to weather issues at the exact same time - only he wasn't, he was online for everyone to see, just hiding from everyone over the fixed S3 draw scam. Not the best liar that Phwner bloke.......

I don't want to drag this write-up on, It's taken me hours to find various deleted posts, and I'm pretty sure that anyone who reads through what is left of the BAN thread will be able to see that there is/was something shady going on with s0br, Phwner, their multiple aliases & the whole S3 "giveaway every day" debacle. I am also not saying that nobody got their S3's, many did after the first draw was made and the cat was let out the bag when questions were asked. It's a shame you put all this time into trying to tarnish a reputation that you simply can't touch because your stories are lacking one very important detail...

We're not making money offering this pool to others.

The most anybody could ever 'lose' or get 'ripped off' for is 1 hour of mining. Why? We pay as frequently as hourly and we're PPS so we pay on all the work any miner contributes. There's a nice 12.5% bonus applied currently as a promotional thing... will go away or change into something else in the future...

I know it's hard to believe... I understand most people are assholes just like yourself. I most certainly am not or those I consider close friends. So yes... everyone reading this and is afraid of getting 'scammed' or anything... the most that you could EVER risk is 1 hour of time for your miner. Is that worth it to you to witness yourself how much better our payouts are? ... the fact that you can and will make more money mining with us than anywhere else? That's a risk I wish I had available to me to take.... but instead I found myself on the end having to create it in the first place...

Good luck with your taunts... anybody with any intelligence whatsoever will simply consider you to be a buffoon. There's no scam here. There's only a better and more profitable place to mine. He was one of the first to be busting my balls over certain things with the pool... He wanted to see it succeed and offered to help... and he has been...

He's not the only one to have come forward to contribute their time. This project is not just something I'm doing... but several... we all want to see it succeed.

I'm not sure if I sent ThePhwner more than one S3... I have to check and ask him... I've had one guy come to my house.. who won one S3 but I gave him two... I have some large server farms that I manage/operate.. and have bigger ones coming online. I never imagined a 'giveaway' to cause so much drama. There were plenty of other people that posted pics. I never asked anyone to do that...

So back to the point in my last post... I still fail to see what kind you think I could possibly achieve doing all this work to what... con someone out of 1 hour of their mining time? Really? I had several power outages.. my ups backup failed me... and ruined my raid 0 array. If I was online I was on my ipad... as I had to rebuild my array from a 2 terabyte time machine. Do you know how long that takes? I was pissed and took a few days off... I had family in town... and I spent it with them. The thing is man... I'm just a normal dude like everyone else.... I'm not some vc funded guy or have a rich daddy... I'm trying to make a better life for myself too...

Ban pool had a rough start and ill admit that i was not a fan in the start.. i thought for sure s0br was a low life scammer that was doing this as a get rich quick trick... but i seen the work this man put into this pool and the *EXTRA* miles he went to make sure that his users made the most in his pool even if it means he has to spend his own money... This thread was moved from the pools thread to the scam thread by moderators. I posted it in the pools thread in the hope that the people involved would see sense & try and explain their actions instead of continuing to ignore every question. They didn't.


OK, it has become clear that sobr, the owner of BAN (BitcoinAffiliateNetwork) mining pool has absolutely no intention of showing his face on this thread to challenge the allegations of many S3 winners being fake accounts owned by the pool, fake photos being uploaded by his admin (ThePhwner), lies told to everyone by Phwner as to s0brs whereabouts when he supposedly "disappeared" or the insulting & threatening behavior by the admin including via PM to users who asked questions or needed help, some examples of which I will list below. I and other forum members asked s0br time and time again for answers & explanations, but were constantly either ignored or told by Phwner or his shills that "s0br has already answered that", when in fact the only answers we had got were "it's already been answered" - even though none had! A vicious circle. Those questions were:

1)  Does it not concern you that the pool admin, employed by you, uploads fake pictures claiming them to be a delivered unit when it obviously wasn't? If not, why not? And why would he do that?

2)  Does it also not concern you that the same pool admin, employed by you, lied to everyone here by saying that you had no internet due to adverse weather conditions (at the exact same time as the S3 drawing "fix" debacle) - when it was obvious to everyone that this was not the case, as you were indeed online. If not, why not?

3)  Why have you shipped much less than a third of the miners you promised you would since the beginning of your promotion over a month & a half ago?

4)  Why do you continue to advertise your promotion in your pool thread header, knowing that it is completely false/finished.

5)  You claim to be a transparent pool, but you consistently refuse to answer any  questions that have been asked on multiple occasions by multiple members regarding your "promotion". Why? What has happened to that transparency?

6)  There is only one possible source from where the fake posters with fake pics of fake "delivered miners won" come from & why. Either you address & discuss the concerns of the members here, or forever be known as a liar, faker & con-artist that you are shown to be by the overwhelming evidence available on this thread. Until you do so, like any half decent pool operator would, I'm sure the scam accusations will continue for the foreseeable future - it's entirely up to you weather that happens or not though. Answer the questions & clear your name, preferably with evidence, or don't.

There came a point when I managed to catch s0br online - so asked him face to face to answer the questions one at a time, so as to make everything completely clear and transparent for everyone to see:

No, none at all, despite many requests for it from users/winners. Phaker claims to not have access to it & s0br won't even talk about it, but UPS have said that if they have sent them, then they will have it on record and is available to the sender at any time.

The proof is all in the BAN thread, including the two pics that Phawner uploaded claiming them to be the same miner he "won" - even though they were pictures of two completely different units with completely different labels on them, which was pointed out the very moment he did it. That's if s0br didn't delete them of course, but everything is mirrored. The brand new & fake accounts belonging to the "winners" are also freely viewable......or were, I haven't checked today.....

Yes, he's a real problem child I'm afraid......all I can suggest is that you report every post you see of his mentioning your name (there is a link at the bottom right of every message). Unfortunately, the scam thread is unmoderated, and he knows it, so he thinks he can post what he likes about anyone. He seems to think that everyone who makes a comment on this forum is a p2pool user for some reason - I'm not sure what he has against them, maybe he's upset that he got kicked off their forum again....and again......and again! No not UPS it was sent FedEx ground. Also I compared the dates and the tracking number with what s0br posted and it all fits. The miner was new in a unopened box with Bitmain pool info still config on it.

Don't know what all the fuss is.  I didn't win an S3 but have been mining on the pool for almost two months now and the payouts are awesome!  The few times they were wonky due to issues, I just pm s0br and it was fixed pretty quick.  I even got a 24 double bonus a few weeks ago as s0br was making up for a few days of issues.

so..if it's a scam, it's the most profitable one I have ever mined at.

I mine, I get payouts like clockwork.   All the other stuff is just noise to me.

The purported scam the OP is proposing is based on some sort of fantasy originated from his not winning a drawing even though he wasn't actually mining on the pool in question and therefore not eligible for said drawing

s0br has taken no money from any miners and created a damn fine pool that had some bugs early on but he made good on them

so..the only scam here is ..Really? continuing to try to defame the pool when he by his own admission has recognized that people are getting their miners

oh..and he won't prove that he didn't create the account just to defame BAN even though the evidence is overwhelmingly supportive of this ;-)

I agree that the pool has paid me more than I was making at other pools. At first every time the pool had a snafu I would pull my miners but always got paid any shares I had coming. I also can say I was a winner of one of the S3 miners and did recieve it.

I am not comfortable using a pool that lies to it's users & the community, no matter what they pay. I need to be able to trust a pool, and it's obvious that this pool isn't one of them.

All good points but I have mined at all the large pools and some that are no longer large but have seen each pool be accused of all kinds of things, so there would be very few pools left to mine on if I let all the unanswered questions that people have brought up on each pool bother me.

And the BAN scam goes on -  now s0br is stealing 7.7% of miners earnings, that's a nice slice of every miners pie.........will people never learn?

Someone earlier posted that they get transparent emails ... so I guess the emails explained it also?

I never got emails explaining anything.  I did finally get my payout yesterday (after 11 days without payouts).  It did indeed have 7.71% missing due to the difficulty adjustment near the end of those 11 days.  BAN wasn't doing partial payments during those 11 days but instead was picking and choosing who was paid, so not everyone took the 7.71% hit on as many days worth.

IMO, handling difficulty changes in PPS the way BAN does is not the brightest idea.  If there is another difficulty drop, before the drop anyone could set their payout for 24 hours and earn extra for nearly a day at the expense of the pool.  Likewise, always hop off and never let a payout cross an increase!  The pool can probably handle it though-- there are far more increases available to skim from those who do not know any better!

I'm no hater - I just think it's scandalous that people let s0br get away with stealing, lying & scamming miners. As should everyone. Speaking of scamming, here's another classic from their first thread:
