Can anyone point me to a link to 'splain to my addled senior brain how to setup an SD card for the RPi2 (Avalon6) using Ubuntu? Everything I find is pointed to Winbloze.

Thank you... Kiss

https://www.raspberrypi.org/documentation/installation/installing-images/linux.md

Wow...quick. Thank you again. Shows ya how old I am...I'm quite aware of RPi, it's etiology, etc. but just never had occasion to do anything with one. Also dunno why I didn't come across the .org site in searches...more French press (or PepsiMax), I guess.

That should do it. Mine on!  Cool

Sounds like that guide is what you need. But if you get into trouble, feel free to PM me. I've set up a number of RPi's for mining purposes.

In fact last weekend I set up a Stratehm stratum-proxy on a Raspian Jessie lite image. I used DaemonTools to turn it into a service and to manage log rotation. And I mapped all logging to a RAM disk via log2ram to minimize SD card wear and tear.

As an aside, I really like the Stratehm stratum-proxy. It seems well behaved and has a convenient web GUI with pretty graphs (and configurable period and depth for performance tuning). But I'm currently only running one S9 behind it (adding a second S9 B10 that I just bought). Not clear how a Java based proxy running on a resource limited platform like an RPi would fair with a larger farm.

If I had a lot more miners, I'd probably use CK's proxy. But for my limited use case, Stratehm works fine.

CK's proxy won't work on a PI. I tried it a while ago. Had to put it on one of my Centos machines instead.

ITs been awhile maybe I should see if will work on the new ones. Last I heard the 64 bit support on PI was not complete so it won't compile.

Interesting. Good to know.

Seems odd though because I assume that if ck wrote it the proxy would be very frugal resource wise. If there's a compile problem it can probably be worked around.

Not that larger farms would want to put a lot of miners behind a $35 RPi anyway. For me I won't have enough miners to be a concern. A cheap RPi is just what the doctor ordered.

off topic, using keepkey
Does this thing tumble?
I sent 2 btc to coinbase and the entire contents were sent, 2btc to coinbase and 4 btc to another btc address( I guess another keep key one)
keepkey says the right final balance but the blockchain has the remainder in two different addresses, one the main original one.
Makes it a pain to see the total on the blockchain.

This is normal the extra BTC was sent to a change address.
The main address btc and the change address btc don't add up to the keepkey extension btc

2btc sent to coinbase
4btc sent to keepkey change address.
.003 transaction fee
ouch.

Is the amount showing in your Keepkey device correct?  I think what you are seeing is the BTC trail that led up to all of the transactions that you've accumulated to get to the 2BTC.
Blockchain showed 7btc in keep key main to start, keep key said 6btc
Sent 2btc to coinbase, 4 BTC went to change address. 1btc stayed in main address.
Keepkey now says 4btc which is the amount in the change address.
The other 1btc in the keep key main address on the Blockchain is not showing on the keepkey

How much did you put in the Keepkey to start with? 6 or7 BTC?
Must have been 6, Blockchain won't match the keepkey
Installed Bitcoin core, downloading the Blockchain. Will give that wallet a spin.

I use the Keepkey also...I have found it to be very precise all the way to the 8th digit.  No problems at all.  Maybe you should contact their customer support.

I've been using a keepkey, it usually works very well but recently i've had big issues with my transaction history syncing incorrectly. The biggest issue of all is that it took about 5 hours to send BTC to bitmain for my latest S9 purchase. I contacted support via email, send them debugging logs etc, they replicated the problem and are working on resolving it. If you continue to have issues, contact them, i've done it twice and they are helpful. Generally respond in less than 24 hours. I have read that the issue you're experiencing has happened before and they know how to resolve it.

Do you experience lag in loading transaction history or sending BTC?

I typically use it to just store extra BTC and don't have many transactions with it.  I did send 1.13 BTC to Toomim Brothers on July 20th and there were no delays...and no discrepancies.

Wolfen:  I had a similar situation with my Trezor not matching the blockchain. I chalked it up to their hinky chrome app plug in -- but, not sure.  I manually drained the wallet address -- and, went to keep key.   Huh

If you are downloading core 0.13.0 -- bitcoin.org is issuing warnings regarding their binaries -- so be careful...

If anyone noticed - the DE node network dropped out for about 3 minutes at 12:11 UTC and any miners pointed to DE will have failed over

doing core 0.12.0, that what was presented for download.
I have had no problems with the core wallet in the past.
Seems odd that Keepkey is so complicated to see your total on the blockchain.
Thanks for the 0.13.0 tip. WTF

In my experience with keepkey, to figure out your total on the block chain you need to make a list of all of the different addresses you have used and search each one totaling as you go.

Still can't get the frakking SD card to load/work...oh, well. Gonna continue putzing with it today. Could be it's a bad card (old) or a crappy reader (also old). Could be, too, that I don't know what the frak I'm doing.  Cry

There was a question a while back on getting locked out of the website...you're perhaps the fourth or fifth to ask that, and the answer is still the same...stay off the page for a while and let it recover. Repeated, frequent logons will get you blocked (it resembles a DDoS).

To infinity and beyond...on two 741s and one of only 3...nope, make that 4...full nodes in Hawaii...on <30A. (I have other gear on the Hoth ice planet)
